I'm sad to say I don't think so.But I still think he is one of the best players I have ever seen. i was blessed to see Great One in his last year.I don't think Ovie Needs to hoist The Cup to be remembered or to be called Great. But I must confess I Love him. He plays for My Caps so I do have a hometown bias. Your thoughts.

I'll be honest with you I am shocked that they went out this early being the first ever number one seed to blow a 3-1 series lead to a number 8 seed and I have seen both them and Montreal play this year and was never impressed with Montreal at all their goalie just got incredibly hot at the right time for them its not like they got outplayed they will be back if they keep that team together they have an amazing amount of talent there and if they stay together they will have another shot at the championship. I think they may be a victim of having everything wrapped up so early and having such a big point lead for being the number one seed that they may have lost a little of their intensity and weren't able to get it ramped back up and Montreal was playing playoff type games every night just to get into the playoffs and Washington lost a little of their edge going into the playoffs or as I call it the President's trophy curse it got my team a few years ago they had the best record and did not win the cup either it seems you win that trophy and you don't usually win the cup there have been a few exceptions, but not many over the last few years.

That's It! The Caps were full of themselves! They took the Habs too lightly. If this is true then they deserve Every thing that happened. Assuming since you beat this team before that you can easily do it again is the worse type of arrogance! I Hate that! Thanks tim. It doesn't sound like it but I Do feel better.Your reason makes Perfect sense!

and you know the league did not want to see this upset happen they wanted their ovechkin vs crosby east matchup in the final like they got last year that went to 7 games and was one of the best series of the playoffs so all those upsets are going to kill the ratings not that they are the greatest, but they are a little better when the best players are still in it so you know the league is upset that ovechkin didn't get out of the first round and no one is going to think that Montreal is better then Washington they just played a smarter last 3 games and took advantage of every chance they got and their goalie played amazingly well and I'd be even more shocked if they could beat Pittsburgh now that they don't have to worry about ovechkin and the capitals in the next round I'd be amazed if it isn't Pittsburgh and Detroit for a Third straight year in the finals.

I have to agree with tremendousmachine above and say that Ovie needs to be a better team player. I was pulling for Montreal from the start, so I wasn't disappointed with the outcome at all. I am not an Ovie fan to begin with, he's got some skills for sure, but it takes more than that and he just doesn't have it. I wonder now how he feels about that long contract he signed? He might have seen a cup sooner had he not committed most of his career to Washington. I'm sure Brian Campbell of the Blackhawks wasn't sorry to see the outcome either.

Ok Jewels . He's a goon but he is My Goon! I still rather see him play than a Crosby anyday. I'm thankful he is with my hometeam. I have been blessed with the chance to watch him play most of the year. I was hoping for a 1998 rematch, Caos vs Wings . Well it wasa dream.I know now I really don't care if Ovie hoists the cup or not. I love him just the same.

Crosby is the narcissist. and sadly he is smart enough to stay far away from Ovie. That's what I love about Ovie, he has the finesse of a Crosby and the mentality of a Darren McCarty. He is a grinder that can score , Well! And I have come to the point where I really don't care if he doesn't hoist the Cup. I'm just glad i got to see him play.

LOL..I'm still not ready to say he's a goon..a narccisist maybe?..Did.n't mean to put you on defense Sarah!! ..I actually like ovie, I just like poking you about him better, my own amusement done in true cyber-friendship I swear. If he would take one of those collar-bone breaking shots at Crosby..he would forever be my hero.

When Ovechkin learns to play a team game, only then will the Caps go further in the Stanley Cup playoffs. He cannot do solo rushes down the ice and expect to go through a grittier opponent on his own. He has to make use of his teammates. In the playoffs, the opposition actually sacrifices their bodies to block shots. The Caps got a free pass in the regular season. Also, Ovie has to take shorter shifts. There were many instances where a tired Ovechkin was going to the bench at the same time Montreal scored. Compared to Crosby, Ovie has only won one series, while Crosby has won a world junior gold, a Stanley Cup and an Olympic gold.

The hardwear doesn't matter to me. I love Ovie's style of play . But you do have a point, he does have good teammates who Can score and Ovie doesn't seem to have a problem passing to them . but he needs to wait for them to go in with them. shorter shifts sounds great.can you tell the coaching staff? Thanks for your response. I Know I am way too close to critique My Ovie.

Ovie and Crosby, both amazing. I know this is the closest I will we see two players that dominated like the great one, and super mario. This is due to the training these players go through to make it to the show now. Now on to the question, Ovie will hoist the cup. Soon? most likely not, the Caps are not where they need to be. This year Montreal was playing playoff hockey a month out, makes a big big big difference. They knew what they had to do to take down the Caps and pulled it off.

Thanks. Now I can understand why the Habs advanced. I hope to love to see Ovie Hoist The Cup.
