So, I think we have another Helium now because unless we are featured contributors we may not be able to write for AC and get performance payments hereafter. I got a mail to day and I am posting it for your benefit
"Unfortunately, those who are not accepted as Featured Contributors will be unable to earn additional Performance Payments until further notice. We sincerely apologize to all international Contributors who are affected by this. These changes are occurring for legal reasons outside of our control. We strongly value your contributions to Associated Content, and hope to expand our new Performance Payment system to additional international Contributors in the future. You will be notified again if this occurs.
If you would like to remove your content from AssociatedContent.com, please send your request to community@associatedcontent.com."
I am not a featured contributor here and for all the others who are like me, what should we do? Do you think we should remove our content from AssociatedContent.com ?

This came as a shock and disbelief but after going through the internet history this is not new. a lot has been happening recently. Paypal is yet to sort out issues with RBI and now AC's 'improved' policies. It seems, AC it gradually phasing out of India and Asian and African countries.
I haven't quite decided on pulling off my articles yet. I just hope, they still allow us to write there. It's a beautiful place.

Hi Kala !
I am also shocked to read the mail from Associated Contents and was disappointed to know that we will no longer be paid for our write-ups on Associated Contents. I think at least me cannot figure in their 'featured writer category', therefore, I am least likely to get any further payment for performance page view. I think we have no choice but to comply with their directions. I write on AC primarily for fun and for indulging in some 'creativity' and earning is/was secondary. It is, therefore, I feel that I should continue to write on AC, even if no payment is made. What do you say?
Have a great day!

Honestly speaking, I enjoyed writing on AC and did not much enjoy writing a blog, I cannot spell out the reasons. It is possible that if we Indians are shown the 'exist' gate, then we will have to switch over to some other site or may be make do with blog.

I found this sad when I first found out that international members cant use this site. This is because this is the site that earns me the most money. I really enjoy the upfront payments and it sucks that international members could get that either. If I was you I would remove your content from associatedcontent. They shouldnt make money on your stuff if you arent.

I think it is better to remove your contents from AC. Yes, Helium closed the doors for the International writers and now AC.
Unga baniyil solvathu enral " Kadavul oru kadavai moodinal innoru kadavai thirappar".
Good luck Kala.

Your name sounds familiar to me. I have a bad memory. I know a lady with your name who was extremely humorous, energetic and kind.
BTW May I know about you?

It is a concern for those in Australia too kalav. I received a similar email yesterday. I am disappointed although I had stopped posting there and Helium a while back because the payments I was receiving were beyond minimal. I am not so sure what to do about this. If I remove my content I don’t see what I will achieve and if I leave it there I feel somewhat annoyed that I am shown no appreciation. Becoming a featured contributor is not easy and I am not sure what I can do. I received a private message from another member asking me if I had any ideas about this and I am stumped on how to reply...

Hi Kala, actually most companies are doing it as Obama's policies are such that those who pay monies outside will be taxed. I dont really know how long mylot can continue. But it is a temporary phase. Till the US economy recovers, this will go on. We just have to wait and watch if such closing of doors to outsiders really helps the US back on its feet. If it does, then obviously such protectionism will stay. If it does not, then they will be back with a bang. :)

It's a shame that India and the UK haven't created sites to accommodate writers who will be leaving AC. I suspect there is money to be made from a paid writing site- it's only a matter of time until that type of site is made!
