It was a frog, crayfish, kitty weekend...

Friday the crayfish came home (nope, no pictures yet) and we put her in the goldfish tank. The nice people at PetSmart told us to do that and told us what food to buy. Now the crayfish that came home with Cary was not Emilio. Some other kid took Emilio home. Cary brought home a crayfish named zero, so named because one of the other crayfish nipped her claws off. He wasn't too happy with putting her (Naomi says it's a she, don't ask me how she knows) in the fish tank, but he eventually gave in. So now we have a goldfish and a crayfish doing staredowns at each other. The crayfish has tiny little claws - apparently they grow back - so watch out goldfish!
Then I went walking on Saturday. I was hoping to see the beaver again, but no beaver. But while I was watching the beaver lodge for signs of beaver activity, something right in front of me went splash, splash, splash. It was a frog. So I finished my walk, happy that I had at least seen something.
Sunday we went to cat rescue. I lured the girls out with promises of kittens, and sure enough there were kittens. There was one litter of 6 going off with a foster mom, then a man brought in 2 bottle babies that some idiot had abandoned in a box with some dry cat food in the park, 5 kittens that were old enough to be adopted and another four in the back with mama. The 4 didn't have a foster, so the girls started doing the full court press on me. As if they really had to try hard! We ended up bringing mama, babies and Kit Kat. Kit Kat is a gorgeous tortoiseshell, and really sweet, and I can't believe she hasn't been adopted yet. She needed a break from the adoption center. She's already getting along with Tiger and Jason and Oreo and walking around like "I could really get to like this". Mama and babies are in Dearra's room.
So it was a frog, crayfish, kitty weekend for me...

If I am remembering correctly, female crayfish are marked differently on their undersides. I thought they regrew claws. Why did someone else take Emilio? I could not take kitties home and not keep them. I visited Squirrelvania this weekend. I guess I will have to start posting discussions about squirrels and squirrelvania so it makes some kind of sense to someone.

Naomi said she could tell by the white spots, so I guess you're right about the markings. Not sure why somebody else took Emilio, probably Cary just assumed he got to choose, and when somebody else chose Emilio he didn't say anything. It will be hard not to keep any kitties, but I'll try to be tough. Yes, please do post about squirrelvania!

You mean Emilio got home and then Cary had to bring back Emilio at school. And somebody else took Emilio? That's so sad. Is Emilio coming back? Or no one knows who took him? My daughter would be so upset if something like that happened to her. And you can tell that children knows who is who when it comes to fishes in a fish tank. And those kittens are so lucky to have your family take care of them. That's so great.
No kidding. I know a lot of people who won't even care to take a look at lonely kittens. (^^,)

No, there were three crayfish, and three children each taking one home. Cary thought he was bringing Emilio, but he brought Zero instead. I'm not quite sure how that happened.
Those kittens are so adorable. But in about a month, they'll be going in to the adoption center to find homes!

Oh, I understand now.
I hope in one month those kittens will find a home. What if no one is going to adopt them? By the way, we got two kittens in our garage. LOL. We don't know yet if we are going to keep them. My daughter wants to. But my dad is concern with his chickens.LOL..

The gray kitten will get adopted right away, she's so adorable! But the other three are black, and often black kittens take longer to get adopted. We keep them until they are adopted, basically...

OH my sounds like you have your hands busy there. May I ask just how many pets do you have now? I bet it gets interesting when it is time for vaccinations and vet bills eh? On the other hand I bet the job they bring you is priceless, to see your girls happy and to know the animals are in a safe loving home too, right? :)
