I didn't think I would have a cell phone for some time to come. I was going to get a land line for the new apartment but that didn't work out due to Qwest excellent service. So my new cell is in the process of charging. It said it was charged about four hours ago but I am told it needs to charge for about twenty four hours. I am excited. I have a free Samsung Trans. Has anyone any advice for me?

Make sure that if you are limited to a certain amount of minutes that you DO NOT GO OVER the minutes that you have each month. If you do it will cost you a lot. It can run up into the hundreds and I do mean hundreds. Like $800 and $900. SO make sure you keep track of what your minutes are and how many you have used. You can do that online or with your phone. If you have a plan that allows you to put numbers on it that you call most and not be charged put them on there as soon as you can. Change them when you need to.

thank you for the Best Response tag. Having a cell phone is great. I love mine. Just make sure that you read all the fine print and know your plan and keep up with what you do on your phone. Then you should not be hit with any surprises.

Don't charge during electrical storms. Always shut it off before charging. Find someone who understands the features. I like dialing a # and someone answers. This turning it on, waiting, dial a # and hit send. Three steps to do what I do with my home phone with one. I hope it has a cover and you have a way to attach it to your belt or car. People without covers often do "butt dialing." So I got a cover and something to attach it to my belt.

I gave the phone back to Verizon. I didn't like having to count minutes. I like my land line so much better. But I was up with the Jones's for awhile. hehe

Good for you. There are a lot of people that have switched to having a cell phone only. Take care.

Well you really don't have to charge a phone for 24 hours. Yeah, back in the day when the cell phones were as large as say your landline phone, but not now. If it's "fully charged" its fully charged and can be used. Samsung is a good brand, and it's famus for good battery life. Its best not to over-charge phones, because you don't get the best performance. Most recommend, not more then two hours over the 'fully charged' time. But, never a full day. But, like other people said, watch your texts/minutes. You may have a higher-then-expected bill if you aren't careful about that... or if its pre-paid, be disconnected from an important call. Just be careful with the phone itself too. damage can happen anywhere anytime so be careful of that.

Thank you for your information. I let it charge for about 22 hours. I have heard from alot of people even recently that that is a smart thing to do the first time. Now I will just charge it until it says fully charged.
