Did you know that Russia sent us a 9/11 Memorial Statue?

I didn't! I got an email from a friend with a link and I checked it with Snopes, who said it was true. Then I looked for news articles and came up with just this one on Google News: http://www.nj.com/hudson/voices/index.ssf/2010/04/the_bayonne_teardrop_listed_am.html If you would like to see this memorial, which I think is lovely, go here: http://hubpages.com/hub/TEAR-DROP It seems that good news just doesn't make it into the news but this is ridiculous. This should have been highly publicized to warm the hearts of the American people and enhance our relationship with Russia. Sometimes I think that the media is actively trying to make us resent other nations just so they can get new stories of violence and hate. Anyway, I hope your heart is warmed by this. Mine was!

Personally, i think the press starts a minimum of 75% of our problems. They IGNORE good news & EXPLOIT bad news!!! They slant their view to suit their needs. Or is that their desires??? The one angle was not the most attractive sculpture I have ever seen. However, it is depicting one of the LEAST attractive events in our lifetime & should NOT be depicted as beauty!!! Knowing what it represents, I find it a beauty to behold!!!

"If it bleeds, it leads" is the prevailing standard for journalism today. I entered college wanting to be journalism way back in 1972..once I saw what it had become, I dropped out. I kind of wish I hadn't. Sure, it's not the most attractive sculpture but the sentiment is golden. The fact that the American people are largely ignorant of it tells us a lot about the mission of modern journalism. We need hope right now, hope that we are all the same in feeling and ambition to have a good life. American journalism has a mission to divide us and lead us toward a socialist/communist lifestyle where nobody but the rich will be happy. I don't know why but I do recognize the markers--Soviet journalism was the model for our U.S. journalism today. Brainwash, divide, conquer. Stay strong and don't fall for it. There is good news out there, every day people are doing wonderful things for each other. This is still a nation of people that love independence free will. Don't let the "news" convince you otherwise, and vote as if you were one of them!

The harder they try to tell me what I need to be thinking, the LESS I listen. I have enough sense to know what I think!!!

Wow I also had no idea. That is excellent and I can't wait to see it. I am planning a trip to New York this summer. I wonder why we haven't heard more about it. I agree it should have been more publicized.....I guess we only need to hear about the bad news and not the good...?? Well we know now thanks to you. I will definitely pass the information on to all my friends. Thanks for sharing, Mari

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/r/russian-911-memorial.htm This is another article about it. I did post it on Gather, Dragon, and no one has even looked at it yet. I have some friends who will later, I am sure. I will also probably put something in a Side Tick Blog.

I hope you'll take some photos and share them and your experience with us! I emailed the sculptor and thanked him and his country then briefly explained why he had not gotten the thanks that he should. I listed his website in the second reply if you're interested. I'm looking forward to reading about your experience, have a wonderful trip!!

Oh, dragon, I did not know about this. I think it is very touching, both the gesture and the statue and what it means as well. I am finding it pretty sad that it has not been publicized more and also that so many people dislike it. I wish there was a way to let the sculptor know what I think of it.

This is very good news! I remember all the cold war days and I am so glad to hear that maybe we are all on the mend. I am not surprised that it did not make the regular news as we have become like those we used to fight. We use the media to manipulate people rather than inform them. The gov. tells us what they want us to know...

I remember those Cold War days, being told that the Russians were evil and wanted to destroy us. Thank God I had parents that told me it was the governments threatening everyone, not the people, and that Russians were just like us with families and loved ones and lives similar to ours. Yes, our gov't is controlling the media and that's why people like us must spread the word when we hear something uplifting like this! They cannot hide the truth if we don't let them, we must be vigilant and keep spreading news they don't want us to know.
