Have You Ever Puked (Been Sick) In Public?

I got to thinking about this when I learned that a pub I used to go in is now up for sale in Blackpool. It is called the Queen's and has had its ups and downs over the years. I supposed the Smoking Ban was the final straw, not that I smoke but I know plenty of people who do. This isn't the topic of discussion, however.. Anyway, one particular evening I was in this Pub (at Christmas-time many years ago) and I really shouldn't have been because I'd been drinking all afternoon at work. If I remember rightly some homebrew was being served up and, despite it being disgusting we all drank it out of courtesy really. Typical Brits not wanting to offend anyone lol. So, the Pub in question is only round the corner from Mum's house and I went in there with a guy I secretly fancied plus another friend of mine. All 3 of us were stood at the bar as it was packed therefore no seats were available. I then proceeded to lower my head and go "blach" you know, the noise we ALL make when we're being sick...and it went all over my feet and the guy's feet I secretly fancied. It was horrible, lumpy with carrots in it, even though I'm quite sure I hadn't eaten carrots that day! Well, that was a blow. He was quite a natty dresser and I went and ruined his shoes (and my chances) by staining them orange. How embarrassing! Oh, and to serve me right for getting so drunk I "lost" my belt, presumably in the toilets. It was one of those that was worn on one side at an angle, typical rocker's belt at the time. I was gutted when I lost it and vowed never to get that drunk again. Did I keep to this vow? Nah, not aged 18 I didn't hehe lol.

at 18 I vowed to never get drunk again, and I haven't on the other hand, does opening the car door and barfing out it count? does having it happen on a freeway access road in town make a difference? Thanks for reminding me of a discussion I thunked up last night!

Well you can tell me about "barfing" as you call it wherever and whenever it happened, it doesn't have to be drink related. In fact, people can puke at anytime, anywhere. Cats are the same of course. When our Flojo came back to us the first thing she did was eat some tuna and puke up what can only be described as green weeds, bless her heart!

A bus is probably the worsed place you could be if you felt ill before you got on it. I do sympathise as I was sick BEFORE getting on a coach in London to Wembley. However, it didn't really make me feel any better and I couldn't wait to get home, to be honest. Our team lost as well which didn't help!

I am one of those people who almost never pukes. Ever. Not since I grew up and got away from some bad food storage habits. So, the only time I remember doing so in public, I was in Elementary school and it was the day of the Thanksgiving program, if I am not mistaken. I am just a fortunate person about that. It could also be that I do not drink. I used to have a bout of vomiting, etc. every holiday, but that is because we would make tons of food, and then not get it put away. I think I had mild food poisoning on a consistent basis. I feel sorry for the 18 year old you who lost the guy and the belt and her stomach contents all in one evening.

Well, I wasn't sick regularly...but I was usually with a guy whenever I did...and I always puked over shoes. Very strange. The last time I was sick wasn't all that long ago actually...but at least it was in a hotel room over the toilet bowl in London as opposed to throwing up in public, something that is embarrassing just thinking about it!

Hi Janey... I have had a similar experience, but it wasn't that embarrassing... It too happened in a lavish pub... I had gone their alone (after break up with my ex) and was drinking heavily.. Then I met with a few friends from my college and we had a little more of it... Whenever I am about to puke, I get a signal from somewhere (maybe, from my tummy ) and the same happened there... I suddenly got up and ran towards the wash room... and emptied my stomach there.. 2-3 of my friends had followed me, thinking that something was wrong... Now, I found them laughing at me and telling me what to do and not to do... They weren't laughing at me, but at my drunkenness... Then we drank again (I was all empty, you know ) and went home peacefully.... I slept for next 18 hours after that... After that I never drank to the point of puking...

At least you managed to get to the wash room. Now, that would've been embarrassing for you if you had not, especially somewhere posh. I'm glad you don't drink so that you have to puke after that. It was good that your friends were concerned for you as well. The last time I had a major puking session was actually at home. I made the mistake of carrying on drinking after being out all afternoon. Suddenly, I slumped over my keyboard, fell asleep then proceeded to puke IN FRONT of the cat's litter tray. Because I was drunk I didn't really make a very good job of cleaning up the sick and it took weeks for the smell to go away. Needless to say, I don't do that anymore!

Yes, Janey.. I managed to avoid the shame.. Actually, I didn't manage, it is just that that I got the usual signal from my body and I knew something was wrong.. It would have been terrible to puke in that pub, because it is one of the best in this city.. Man your experience at home must have been bad... I can understand it, though I have never been through it. Because I always disliked the idea to sit at home and drink- don't know why! But I don't generally puke too.. The key is to eat a lot while drinking... that keeps the body strong... Also, avoid drinking too much when you are tired... Have fun!

Hey Janey..I've humiliated myself in public too but getting drunk and throwing up not once but twice!!! Guess you can call me shameless lol. The first time, i drank on an empty stomach and had a few cocktails and then tequila, which didn't gel well in my tummy. Luckily, just then my friend told me to go to the washroom with her, guess she sensed it. I got there and all of a sudden I threw up. After that I was a gone case. I couldn't stand up nor open up my eyes. I was so sloshed. Some girls in the washroom actually felt sad for me!! Again I threw up on the elevator. Couldn't help it. That was the first time. The second time was the new year party '09. Again, I drank on an empty stomach ( I'll never learn). I was on the first floor and the washroom was on the ground floor. Before I could reach the washroom, I got sick right into my friends hands and his shoes and in front of everyone at the party!!!!!! That was gross. I don't know why he put his hands out even!!! Anyways, think everyone was too drunk to remember me puking..lol

Fancy that guy holding out his hands ready for your sick. I bet he won't do that again in a hurry. I also wonder if he managed to wash his hands at some stage! I can't stand that wuzzy feeling I get in my head before I'm sick. Then the room spins round (whether I've been drinking or not) then BLACH! Out it comes! We are due to go on a "do" at the Cricket Club at the end of the month and my husband is under strict instructions NOT to buy me this lager I don't normally go for. I did that last year and the consequences were dire. If I do this I am confident I will be OK. Yes, you are quite right, drinking on an empty stomach isn't ideal. Also, I can't understand why some people have to eat like their lives depended on it AFTER they have drank a lot. Luckily, I'm not like that, otherwise I'd be puking a lot more I would think!

LOL..Yea he was half drunk too, so he probably didn't realize what he was doing then but he sure remembers it!!! Hehehe..watch what you drink!! To me puking is the worse thing that could happen you me!!! I hate the feeling of bile rising to you mouth and then the scary sounds that sound inhuman when you begin to puke!!! LOL..its all too gross. And puking really makes me sick for hours after that cause my stomach feels as though it has been in a blender and my chest and throat feel sore later!!
