Have you ever tried to cut your own hair?

Ya, I have tried. I purchased hair clipper and tried to cut my own hair. I have seen many videos of cutting own hair and that's why I thought to do so. It's quite easy. Why would you pay $25 or something to barber if you can cut it your self? I believe in savings. I've cut it and I am happy with it, and I am also savings around $25 a month. What about you? Have you ever tried this?

Years ago I not only cut my own hair but also put permanents in. I kept my hair curly so I figured that if I cut it uneven no one could tell. I also cut my kids hair especially the boys. I also had a friend that we traded doing hair for each other. Now days I can't get my arms in position to cut the sides or back but usually cut my front because I can't stand hair in my face. My grandson now cuts his own hair with the clippers. He keeps it all the same length so that makes it easy. Just buzzes it off.

Unless you can get a lot of practice cutting with standard scissors can give a very uneven hair cut. Buzzing with the clippers is so much easier.

Yeah, cutting hair with hair clippers makes cutting much easier. Now standard hair scissors are now out of date.

I trim my hair all of the time. When I was about twelve or thirteen I went into my mother's room when she wasn't around and cut my hair to three or four inches long. I had seen in a teen mag what I thought was a cute hairstyle and wanted to try it out. I wore it that way for a couple of years until my hair grew out again.

Yes I've cut my hair several times on my own. Why would you pay someone for something that you can do on your own? You will save alot of money.
@keval32 (1096)

That's right. Why we should pay someone if we can do it ourself?

Give a man a fish.... you know the rest. I taught myself to cook, sew, and do other things, because they're easy to learn. I can do them myself, so I don't need to pay others to do them. If you want to save some money, learn how to do things for yourself.

I do cut my hair. I use clippers as I don't like going to barbers because of the cost and the fact that some tend not to listen to what you actually want. I used to trust only one local barber but they closed, for sometime I tried using other ones but I never really took to them and so my mum bought me some clippers. I practiced on my brother and then moved onto mine, it's really not that hard.

Well, I'm certainly no beautician, (I don't even know if that's how you spell it). I've never tried cutting my hair. However, the gent that does cut my hair is a retired hair dresser. He cuts his own hair, his wife's hair and mine. My friend is almost 80 years old and he still does a pretty good job. I'll keep him as long as he can still cut. I usually have to trim a few areas that he missed but it's no big deal. He's not charging me anything so I won't complain since I can't beat the price.

I've cut my own hair before many times, using a scissor. It didn't look bad but it wasn't even. It's hard to cut ones own hair because you have to look in the mirror and you can't see good enough.

Hi Keval, Yes. I already cut my own hair. It’s not perfectly made but at least I had a feel of it. I know how to cut other’s hair. I used to do my younger brothers haircut before but not now. It’s fun and I enjoyed experimenting my hair and other’s too. If they will be confident enough to allow me to do it for them hehehehe!

That's not funny actually, everyone can do it if there's desire. Many people are doing it, that isn't difficult but requires little patience and skill.

Hi, keval32. yeah, i've tried. but i am all thumbs. i looked aweful. i have to look neat because i am a teacher and i meet a lot of people. when my ex did it for me, it was acceptable. since i broke up with her, i need to spend money on my hair once every two months.

I am self-employed. I run my small English school in Japan. Well, because of this downturn, i need to be frugal so i spend only 1000yen, or $10 on my haircut. :)

I always cut my own hair. I have a set of hair-clippers that I bought some time ago because the price of the barber was going up and up. I have two mirrors set up so that I can see the back of my head. I can then get straight into the shower so that I don't have to have the itching hair down my back! _Derek

I haven't tried to cut my own hair because I'm a girl and I have a long hair and I need to go to hairdresser to take care of it. But we do have hair clipper in my house, my husband bought it and I used it to cut my son and husband's hair. I'm also saving money.

I cut my own hair and my husband's. I may not be an expert, but it gives me more experience each time I do it, and it saves us some money. My mother always cut my hair and all of my sisters growing up so it's only natural to me to do it myself.

ohh!! that sounds really nice keval!! but i wonder how you can cut the back of your hair well!!??? i am going to check out a few videos on that! ;) i've cut my hair but only in the front when the bangs near my forehead got too long and it was a complete disaster!!! cause they became just too short!! so after that i never tried it ever again!

Must be Khalida, because at our India it's scarce to find someone who is cutting his own hair. There's nothing to be wonder because with hair clippers it's quite easy to cut back of the hair and I have to mirrors to cut the back of the hair. I have sent you friend request, can we be friends? By the where are you from?

I think it's in our blood, my grandfather, my father, my uncle, my cousin are all barbers. That's the reason maybe that I can cut my own hair. I've experienced not going to the barber in a whole year and it's just me giving haircut for myself.

I cut my hair all the time, and have done since a mobile hairdresser was at my daughters doing hers and she asked if I wanted her to do mine. She persuaded me to have a number 2 all over, and I agreed. Before this I had gone to the Barber for a short back and sides with a bit off the top as they called it. Since then I have bought a set of clippers and give myself a No 1 on the back and sides and a No 2 on top, and it works al-right for me although it is a bit cold in the winter so I don't do it as often.
