This film is inspired by martial arts, which I read from some articles, this film is making use of high cost and long manufacturing time. and it received positive reactions from the film community abroad. about Iko Uwais, he's very handsome, and he wrestle Pencak silat. and deliver it became an actor.

Merantau is an awesome movie. It's been a while since we last watched Indonesian action movie, and to be precise a martial art movie. Nowadays, there are only few Indonesian quality movies, and I can say that this one deserve the praise. The director is a European guy which is interested in Iko's Silat style. Together with other film crews and veteran actors/actresses and new comers alike, they have done great to produce this breath taking movie. I hope to see in the future some local directors to produce their own original Silat movies, with original and unique Indonesian points of views and concepts around Silat. Though Merantau is unique compared to other countries martial arts movies, many are still considered Merantau as another version of Ong Bak. I can't blame who say that though, as master mind of this movie (the director) is still influenced by other Asian movies figthing style. When we have our own Silat movies directed by Indonesians, that's when we'll see original Silat styles. Hope that will comes true in the near future :D

This movie is different with other indonesian action movies i have watch. The best ever, i guess with great visual effects. We can see the broken neck when iko uwais kick the boss's neck in the last film and bloody, .so terrible. Besides the actual style show of martial arts of show, it's all well-shots and gets the adrenaline pumping. This movie like jackie chan's style and definitely similar with ong-bak style.
