How far would you go?

I know, we all need to return some things at some point to the customer service. But some people take it little too far. Yesterday I was at the customer service to buy some quarter. The lady ahead of me in the line was coming with few pieces of egg plant in a zip lock bag. She took it to the customer service girl to return it, and the look of the customer service girl was surprising, like "really?". I was also surprised, can someone really go to return vegetable like that? Personally I would never go to return any vegetable. Do you return things some times? What kind of things you return?

I have never returned food items. I do return or exchange clothing or a gift that I don't need. For example, I have a toaster, if I received a toaster I might exchange for an appliance I need.

The strangest thing I ever saw was in Asda ( a large British supermarket), I was waiting at customer services exchanging a faulty DVD player, a lady came to the desk with an empty meat tray and the wrapping for a piece of rump steak. She was after her money back because 'her husband didn't like the steak' - she didn't have the steak, it wasn't rancid or off, just that her husband didn't like it - nothing to de with her cooking eh!! But she got her money back - how cheeky is that!!

WOW this is really something! I can't think about doing that. You are right, what about her cooking skill? LOL

I have never heard of Vegetables being returned and I am surprised that they even took it back because here they would not have taken it back The Person who brought it back should have checked it before she bought it I have only returned something a couple of times and that was clothes because they did not fit properly

I think most of the people return only clothes or electronics when it does not work well. I have never thought about returning vegetable or fruits.

Hi, sweetlady10. I have never known anyone to return a vegetable. Being that her hands were all over it, I am unsure if they would give her a refund. Maybe an exchange, but not a refund. The only things that I have ever taken back was clothes, makeup and that is all. I hardly ever return things that much.

Yes cream97, they gave her money back. Like you I also don't return things often, unless it is clothes which will not fit or electronics which will not work.

I sometimes return clothing. I would never return food unless it was something absolutely lazy on the store's part.

I never had an experience of returning something to a store, however, I would probably make an effort to return something if it's a bit expensive. Or maybe if it's the size that wouldn't fit, then I can have it changed. If there's a damage, maybe it's another thing. But for inexpensive stuff, I won't waste money for gas or even waste my time to go back to the store or supermarket to return it. To avoid these things to happen, always check what you buy and make sure it's the right kind, size, color, etc...

I agree with the point of wasting money and time. But if stuff like cloth or electronics does not work properly, but they are costly, so it make sense to return that kind of item.

Actually that's not a bad idea. I once ate some chicken that gave me food poisoning and the store asked me to bring a sample of meat for then to test, to see why it made me sick.

We should be always careful checking the date. But there are no ways to know if the meat is contaminated.

I had no idea that you could return vegetables. Unless the vegetables have some type of contamination is kind of dumb to do that, Ha Ha!

I return clothes and shoes that don't fit, but aside from that I only return things if there is something wrong with them for instanse things that are broken, things were something is missing, food that is too old etc. Sometimes I don't even return food or drinks which are too old. My husband and I live in a village in the countryside, and we often do our grocery shopping in one of the big cities on our island. If there is something with the food we usually don't find out till we are already back in our village, and then it would be too expensive to go back to the shop to return the things.

Wow you guys need to drive a lot for groceries. I can't think of driving that long to shop grocery. I think may be that depends on situation, if I don't have choice than I have to drive. And also may be if you are used to it than don't think about it much.

I will return things if there are defects and something not good which is our right. Or else if not yet suit with my cash I mean not yet punch in the cash register. Maybe she has a point with it why she return the vegetables. Might it is rotten or something not pleasant or he forgot the exact vegetables what she wanna buy in her menu. There is no problem with that as long as your reason is valid enough and the salesclerk or company is okay with it. I know that costumer has the right to ask, return and clarify about things she bought.

I understand the fact that as a consumer we have every right to return a thing. But I have never thought about returning vegetables after cutting it. Personally I only return defective things or cloth that would not fit.

Hmmm... Honestly, I'm the type of person who never returns any merchandize even if I am not satisfied with it. I'm not sure why but that's my character. I can't think of any instance where I returned a certain product or merchandize. I think none. I had ask for an exchange for at least twice as I can remember.

i only returned one thing at the grocery: rib eye steak. when i bought it, i noted that there's a portion where it is a little on the black/brown side. they just said that it was dried blood. when i got home i immediately placed it in the freezer. after two days, when i was about to cook it, the black portions turned greenish! so i called the grocery and told them that i will return the meat because of its current state. good thing they changed it even though i no longer had the receipt. i kept the tag though.
