My "vacation" just got cancelled

Every year my husband and I go to this convention in August. The convention is 3 days long, but we take a whole week and add a little fun to our trip. This year, we haven't quite gotten our vacationed planned, so I hadn't officially requested the days off from work. This morning my boss informs me that he is taking that same week off that I had planned on taking so I can't go. It took me a while to figure out why I really couldn't take time off. His daughter is going with him. We have a very small office - 4 people. If both of them are going together that means I have to stay with the receptionist and man the shop so to speak. It's been very frustrating at work since the boss's daughter started "working" there. I know she'd never make it if she weren't working for daddy...

Well, now at least you'll get to do something different from before! And when you do go on vacation, your boss might realize how inept his daughter is and appreciate you more. What kind of a convention is it?

It's a convention for my part-time home business. This was just the "last straw" and made me really realize that I have to make this become my full-time job and quit working for someone else. I'm sure that by this time next year my buss will realize how good he had it with me there.

I am so sorry to hear that you won't be able to take that week off work. It is a shame your boss will be taking that time for his vacation. You will just spend the three days on the convention so I hope that won't be boring for you. I remember when I asked for 5 days vacation from work. My boss said no. Then I got called for jury service. I laughed thinking he would have to let me have that time off work. He said that I couldn't do the jury service because the company was so busy. I got my vacation to Tunisia fitted in when it at last suited the company. I hope that you will be able to plan a different vacation. Good luck.

I wont be able to go to the convention now at all. That's ok because I now have another reason to make my part-time home business my full-time job. I can't wait to give my notice!

It is not what you know, but who you know, right? So you do not get to go to the convention at all, and then you miss the week off as well. What kind of a convention is it? I guess there is really not a lot you can do, except maybe rearrange the files, etc. while they are gone. LOL

The convention is for my part-time business. I guess this was just the "shove" that I needed though to make my part-time home business my full-time job so that I am the boss of myself and can take time off whenever I want.... I sure can't wait to give my notice - although it's probably not going to be until next May. I'm too nice to leave him in a lurch for next tax season.
