i dont mind the storms, but it's this time of the year when the hurricanes start that can be dangerous, since i live in Florida you never get used to them especially when you see your roof blow off and the pool cage go flying through the air, not a good thing.

well, i have never seen a hurricane, and I actually don't want to, but there are storms here in my area that are really "hard blowing" and there are many trees "cutted down" by the heavy winds. I know that it is really scary being on the way of the hurricane!

You know, we often choose to live in areas where conditions are hard. Whether it is a place where storms are, or a place where there is drought. We can choose to move, or just prepare for the worst.

I used to be afraid of storms, of thunders, of floods and rains. Why because it reminds me of what was stated in the Bible when God destroyed the world. I grew up having that picture in my mind. I was thinking, if that would happen again, for sure I'll die and so is my family because we do not have a big boat that would save us. It was a really funny thought of a kid, and remembering it now, makes me laugh even more. But today, when storms some and I hear thunder, I am no longer scared. I am at peace of God's promise that He will not end the world with a flood. But of course when storms and thunders come, I make sure I am inside the house because I do not want to be cut into pieces. My fear is no longer the same with the fear of what I had when I was a kid.

well, that's why I think that kids must only read the BIble forchildren, where that part is actually missing, maybe because people have remembered what we happen with kids' brains if they leave it :) yeah, maybe he wont end the world with a flood maybe he will do it with millions of lightnings i guess that with the age many people vercome this fear!

Hello Phoenix..... Here we rarely had storm. As I remember I thing I never face storm in my life. Usually if rain hard we had thunder and lightning but not storm. I think If I had a storm I will afraid because its the first time I face it and I don't have a clue how to handle it beside go to my room and close my body with blanket .

I was also accustomed in storm since in our country there are only two seasons namely sunny and rainy seasons. Storms usually happen in our place on the months of June-September and even though it's like this I'm still afraid of strong thunders and lightnings and I guess it's because when I'm still in my elementary years that I've seen a lightning that even reached the ground and it was near in front of us. It's just a good thing somehow that nobody was hurt.

hell0 Eil_noz! yeah, maybe people who have experienced it get afraid easily of it, just because they know how scary it is and how deadly too. Are you from some tropical country? The most of the storms that we have here are in spring- April, May, and I really dislike this time of the year, when almost every day there is a new storm and it rains all day long!

Yes I live on a tropical country. It's Philippines. I like raining only when there's no lightning and thunder. It can be traumatic to have a continuous raining though

yeah, I have watched many broadcasts and movies about the rainy season in tropical countries and it is something fantastic, and as you say without the thunders and lightnings i just wanna go out and play in the rain. Is the rain there alway warm? I ask because I guess it should be :)

I have weathered lots of storms and I am alright. I am firmly convinced that there is no place on earth that is perfectly safe, so we have to choose which adversities we care to deal with. I try to be at least moderately prepared for whatever may occur, but you never can be prepared for anything. Fear is helpful to us only if it causes us to prepare and to get ready for the things that we will face.

Hell0 Gerty! yeah, there is really no place on Earth where we can be perfectly safe, but there are some places where can be "perfectly" in danger Yeah, sometimes we just can choose where to live and must conform with the circumstances that we have on that place. well, with the time everything goes better I guess!

Hey phoexix! I happen to love rain storms! I love thunder and lightening! I would prefer to be inside and watch the "show", but I find thunderstorms sort of mysterious and irresistible! Crazy? Maybe! But, I laugh when I'm on the phone and my friends will quickly hang up and my boyfriend makes me turn off the tv and the lights and just lie there! I just lmao at the silliness of it all! I am so not scared! But, the bf sure is! And so is my gf from across the street! Oh, well! I just don't like to mess with the computer being on just in case, but anything else I don't care about!

HEll0 Opal! yeah, sometimes we may have many electronics broken down, because of the storm and the lightnings, that's why he makes you turn everything off, and we must actually pull the plug off :) yep, it is really nice sitting inside and watching that wonder of nature and sometimes it is really very relaxing to me too! when a storm is comming at home looks like that there is no body, because we turn everything off, even the lights and just sitting and waiting for the storm to pass by. but now, when I live alone and independent I don't do that, because all of the power supplied things that I have are actually mine, bought with my money and I can do what i want so that's why there are some advantages in that living alone :)

I am not afraid of storms. I find them to be quite fascinating in fact. Thunder and lightning and rain bursting from the clouds can be a sight to behold.
17 May 10
yeah, lightnings are something really fantastic, and yesterday and several days before, i've tried to photograph some, but without any success. I am a photogarphy fan and like "shooting" but my camera doesn't allow me to take photos of that kind, i need some better one!

I live in an area that the storms are not too severe. If I lived in an area that had hurricanes or tornados or flooding all the time I would be afraid of it. If I were outside at the time of the storm I might be afraid of being hit by lightning but I try not to go out if there is any chance of rain. The worst thing that usually happens here is the power goes out a lot.

hell0 there! yeah, when the lghts go out because of the storm it is really bad, becaues there is actually nothing to do and if it is dark outside and we have no candles I also try to stay indoor when there is a storm comming, because I don't want to be an actor in the movie "Gone with the wind"

I am not really terrified of the rain and the lightning. Well, I am dreading the possibility that the power will be put out at the worst possible time. That is about the only thing that is really a problem around here. Still when those winds kick up high, that could present an entirely different problem around here, given the types of weather around here. High winds always make me cringe, because that means that there is a possibility of a tornado hitting around here. We have dodged the bullet many times of it not hitting but one day, it could very well happen. There has been so much strange weather, that you just never know what might happen around here anymore. The dark weather and the winds are a combination and when that siren goes off indicating a tornado, that can really cause the hairs to stand on the back of the neck.

yeah, actually the weather nowadays is really strange and hard to predect because of the Global warming I think, because of the changes that we have made with all the gases and all the garbage that we throw off. todayit maybe sunny, but tomorrow there will be some heavy storms. I also think that going "out of power" during the storm is something really bad!

why they are afraid of stroms? just the sound?nope what i fear is that maybe the thunder strike me but the currently science and technology solve that problem so i have nothing to worry about^

well, I am really not sure about that, what actually scares the people, because even when people are inside they also get scared, even knowing that there is no chance(almost no chance) the lightning to strike them indoor. well, you are right- there are really new technologies that keep us in safe, but outdoor it is really only in God's hands :)

I am also scared with storms. I guess the best way to deal with it is to be prepared with the necessary things such as first aid kit, enough supply of food and water and evacuation area. I hope it will not turn to be a destructive one.

well, as I have already told to the others, here in my area storms are not that "heavy" and that's why we don't have to supply us with some extra food or first aid kid, we only need to stay indoor :) well, I also hope that it wont be a destructive one and I guess it wont just because as i told you we don't have such a dangerous storms here

I used to love watching thunderstorms from the comfort of being inside. Then in July 1983, our house was struck by lightning. We were away at the time, but it destroyed the loft and the fire brigade had to come round to put out the fire. I still remember the smell & seeing my old toys burnt up. So after that, I became scared of storms as they can be very powerful forces.
17 May 10
yeah, lightnings are really powerful forces, because the voltage of one lghtining can be counted in millions voltes and the temperature that it causes is about 10 000 degree, which I think is very powerful ): yeah, people who have experienced it already know how scary and dangerous it can be!
