Im an addict

I have my own computer at home and we have a good internet connection. Before i spend 4-6 hours using out internet connection everyday but now my maximum use of the internet is cut to 3 making it 1-2 hours of internet use everyday. This is due to my dads strictness because he said i'm becoming an addict. I don't think i'm an addict because the internet is a necessity. The internet is a good way to meet new friends from different sides of the earth. Using it even makes you learn new things in life and see new stuff. I don't use the internet to play games its main purpose for me is to learn and communicate with my friends and the people i love. So you be the judge am i an addict?or am i just living in the computer and internet age?

No, you are not. I am on internet for 12-15 hours. I work for 8 hours a day in office on Internet and coming back to home I use approx 3-4 hours on weekdays. On weekends I spend more hours at home on Internet. Internet is such a rich source of all the information we need so there is no harm unless you are using it right way and not visiting unwanted sites :)

It really is a rich source of information n_n. Thats why im questioning the word addict. I think my dad should call me a genius hahahaha n_n

I also spend 4-6 hours a day in the internet and i think i'm not an addict because i still do my daily chores like cleaning the house, washing the dishes and other stuff..
it's just time management.. while you are in the computer don't forget what you need to do so you still have a balanced lifestyle..

just explain to your parents what you are doing in the computer and make them understand that it's not non-sense thing..

I think you need to look at whether or not you are neglecting other aspects of your life in order to be online. I also think you need to see if you are being secretive about it. These things would let you know if you are an addict.

Well i play basketball once a week and almost talk to my better half all the time. Im just going online to check on my mail and chat with my friends.

I don't think that you are an addict at all. I use the internet and the computer far more than you do and I don't think that I am an addict either. I think that those that are addicts aren't using the computer for any kind of benefit. For me, the main reason that I use the computer throughout the day is because I am trying to make some money. Then, in the evening after the children go to bed that is the time of the day that I use the computer to do something that is more for me and for more fun.
