Facebook did not create that page as far as I know so don't be angry with them. I can understand your discomfort but you have to also understand that a lot of people are tired of the threats of violence and this is their way of expressing themselves. I'm Christian and I would be equally offended at a humorous or insulting depiction of Jesus Christ...but I wouldn't threaten to kill anyone over it.

Hello sabrina, I've never agreed to Facebook's way of doing things. They claim that it's freedom of speech. But surely freedom must have boundaries. Facebook allows anything. Even when one member started an event encouraging users to quit Facebook, it won't close that group. Facebook is so arrogant. It thinks that it's untouchable and no one will leave it. And like they say Pride goes before a fall. We'll see what happens. What goes round comes around. And for everyone's information, Islam is not a religion of violence. Some of the people who claim they are Moslems are the violent ones. Islam does not condone violence; never has and never will.

Hello UmiNoor. Freedom of speech has very limited boundaries in the United States because it is guaranteed in our Constitution. You can't yell "fire!" in a crowded theatre when there is no fire, you can't defame someone's character with lies or threaten to kill them but, otherwise, we are free to speak our minds. You might not agree but those of us who live in the U.S. take our freedoms seriously and even if I strongly disagreed with what someone was saying, I would still support their right to say it. I did not join this facebook group but I will defend the rights of the members who chose to join. This is why facebook will not close a group that encourages people to quit facebook...it violates our law. I, and millions of others around the world, know that Islam is not a religion of violence and that the majority do not condone violence. Those who are violent in the name of Islam are an insult to your religion and they are the arrogant ones who are to blame. Sometimes when people are threatened, many others rise up against them. This is what is happening on facebook.

Hi spalladino, I respect every person's right to speak their mind and to have opinions. No one has the right to dictate what another person can and cannot think but if something has no boundary then what is there to say that it will not lead to anarchy. That is why we have the law. I appreciate the fact that you do understand about Islam not being a violent religion. I am ashamed of those people who resort to violence in the name of Islam. Islam preaches tolerance. Even when our prophet, Mohamed (peace be upon him) was alive, he allowed other people to practice their own religion. He didn't force the people to convert to Islam even after conquering their land. These so-called Moslem people who killed others they deem to be heretics are in fact doing something that is against Islam. I don't condone their behavior. Even if these people they consider heretics are not Moslems, they're are still God's creatures and we have no right to be the punisher. These things should be left to God's judgement.

I really do not understand what really happened in here. The only thing I saw on TV was that Muslims are protesting over something over Facebook about some alleged program that was inserted that regards to Muhammad? Can anyone shed some light over this? Did Facebook initiate this kind of application. From what I know anyone can make an application in Facebook to their liking. I do not know if Facebook is the one who initiated that application.

Now I see it more clearly. The one I watched on TV was a bit vague as to what those Muslim are protesting about Facebook. Oh well I think they should not denounce the whole Facebook because that was initiated by one member of the site. I think they over reacted to it.

"if it has a lot of members then it cant be too bad" If that is your criterion for deciding whether something is good or not, then God help you!

I think there's a few separate issues here. on the one hand it's not right that anyone sets out to deliberately offend another. on the other hand, I think non muslims are fed up of the extreme reaction to someone that doesn't believe in that religion when they aren't following the rules for the followers of that religion. if that makes sense. you never see, for example, Jews getting up in arms about someone eating bacon. there are many religions in the world, and while I do think that it's being deliberately offensive to set up this page, the intention is clearly to cause offense, but muslims really do have to understand that to followers of other religions, there is nothing wrong with the act of portraying mohammed, and they can't expect everyone to follow their rules or to tiptoe through life trying not to do anything they don't agree with. if my religion forbids driving cars, I wouldn't go around complaining that petrol stations are offensive.
