If you let me, I will help you across the street. First stop, look and listen. Stop, don't just walk into the street, look, do you see the green light? Do you see the traffic stopping? Look at your feet, Notice how far you will have to step to get to the street. Now listen, can you hear the traffic, is someone telling you it's ok to go? We are now in the street with others who wish to cross. We'll go with them. Watch the people, the traffic and your feet, look ahead do we have to step up to get to the sidewalk? Now we have made it. Thank you for letting me help. DID I HELP A CHILD, AN ELDER, A DISABLED PERSON? The object is that it doesn't matter, someone could use my help and I gave it. Would you?

Hi there savypat, well I think you should come to my town and help the college kids with your wisdom. They are very smart in many ways but somehow in their learning they forgot to learn how to cross the street. They just pop off the sidewalk without looking. Seriously. In answer to your question...Yes, I would and have helped people in need of a little helping hand.

Hi pat, your advices are very useful. If passersby follow your instructions many sad incidents could be avoided. Yes we shall help a child, an elder and a disabled persons to cross the streets. It's our moral duty. Thanks for this good discussion.

In this case, it sounded like you helped a child, and also helped that child learn more how to do the crossing safely. I do help people, I open doors, stand aside, carry things. I saw someone help an elderly person in a windy WalMart parking lot last night. She had very light weight bags and was using the cart to walk to her car, but was losing them. A lady stepped up, helped her put her bags together, and took the cart back in and helped her walk to her own vehicle. I am always touched when I observe people being considerate.

Hi Savypat, Well if we can't help others in need what does that make us as people? Of course I would help, if either asked or offer if they look like they needed it. Huggles. Ellie :D

I know I would help anybody who needed it. If I was asked I would not hesitate and if I spotted someone is any kind of distress I would ask if they needed assistance. I don’t think I could go on with my day if I ignored a person who needed help, I would feel so guilty and bad, it would ruin my day, whereas if I did the right thing it would feel so good and it would improve my day no end! The more you give the more you receive...

Hi savypat, Yes I've often helped another in that way. Perhaps too there were other times when I could have helped and didn't. There is a lot of criticism about young people today but it often takes time and experience to learn compassion. My heart soars when I see such compassion and more especially when it comes from a young man or woman. I know then that there is hope for the future and things are not as bad as many claim. Blessings.

If they asked, I certainly would. And if I noticed it looked like they might need help, I'd ask.

I would do the same if I was ever asked for help and even if the person do not ask I will offer him my help because it is always good to help others. We are taught how to be a responsible citizen and I would say that it is one of our duty to help those who need it.
