I Hate Instant Messaging!!!

I have tried to cut off IM on my Facebook page, but it has not worked. I can not stand when anyone sends me an instant message. I am in the middle of doing something and all of sudden, this little message block pops up and interrupts me. It annoys me so much that I want to bend steel with my bare hands. Can anyone explain the process of turning this off? I hope that it is possible. What's the use of having a pop-up blocker, if things are going to still pop up?

If you set your Facebook IM to offline People won't be able to IM you. This setting should stay with you each time you are on facebook. It does for me anyway.

Hey Rosie, I don't think you can block the chat on facebook. Sometimes I wish you could be invisible on facebook, I don't think that is available neither. I sign into my yahoo messenger all the time, I just stay invisible-that way I don't hurt anyones feelings or get bothered if someone wants to chat and I am working. BTW, my grandson loves your house-its cool. He is 5 and wants to write you something. Russell Thats his name, he did it by himself. Take care...

That is so sweet. I love children, they are such a joy to have around. Thank you again for sending the message on Facebook.

I am popping in to say Hi on your discussion, because we were just talking about people we miss. I do not have facebook, yet, and I definitely do not have instant messaging, so I hope someone else can help you with this. I would want to break the screen myself.

Hello, Ms. Gerty. It is nice to see that you are still on Mylot. I miss hanging out here like I use to. I keep coming back though. I really like Mylot.

i dont hate instant messangers as i used to sit on it for hours...but now i have left it behind as i am bored of it. i think its a waste of time as we can do many more things on net instead of chatting with some one.

Pop-up blockers in browsers only block a pop-up window and not a flash pop-up that facebook uses on its pages,

Instant messages can be ok at first. But it can start to become a pain. I feel ya on the subject. I don't like it sometimes but I've grow acustom to it. I work around it sometimes. Maybe the only way to go about it. Just don't interact with that part of being online =)

For me the facebook instant mesaging is a convenience, because i don't have to open YM anymore. If it is a bother to you, just make yourself offline to everyone.
