Taking advantage of people.

Why is it some people think they are entitled to help or special treatment when they are actually already very privilidged? Why is it some people are good at wheedling and whining to get what they want even when they don't deserve it?
There was a post on our local Freecycle from a woman along the lines of "does anyone have any vegetable plants because I forgot to sow any seeds this year. I am disabled and find it difficult to garden".
No doubt various folks have helped her out but I didn't because I know who she is. She's in a very well-paid job and so is her husband, they can afford to follow Formula One (and I don't mean on TV) and take various holidays each year.
She is posting elsewhere asking for sponsors because she is doing the "race for life" run (she's THAT disabled). She also goes off with the Ramblers when there's no F1 to attend.
She isn't disabled or needy just lazy and greedy. I feel like posting up to Freecycle but I know they'd just ban me. It bugs me that she is scrounging like this and playing for sympathy when there is nothing wrong with her that could stop her from doing a bit of gardening. She just thinks if she can get people to feel sorry for her they'll do all the work and give her stuff for free.
What really bugs me is that some of the people she will take advantage of are a lot, LOT worse off than she will ever be.
Grrrrrr!!!!

I know exactly how you feel. I have a 36 year old cousin who has never worked a day in her life. She has never even applied for a job. She, like your acquaintance, is not disabled, and yet she gets a $500.00 a month disability cheque. She does have a few medical issues but nothing disabling. There is no reason what so ever for her not to be a productive member of society. What she is is a thief. She is stealing from hard working people who can't afford to support their families and a deadbeat like her. How she managed to flim flam the government into giving her that money is beyond me. I have spoken to her a number of times about getting a job, but it has been a waste of time.

Tell me about it!
One of my cousins borrowed 4 thousand dollars from my Dad. My Dad made $20 thousand dollars that year. He had 4 kids (one with a 60 IQ, one with a hearing impairment and learning disability, both of them plus one more needing speech classes that my Mom was bringing them to 3 times a week). Plus my Mom had cancer treatments and my Dad had a triple bi-pass. Well, my cousin and her husband were supposed to pay my parents back. My cousin made $30 thousand a year and her husband $40 thousand a year. They had 3 kids, none with disabilites. They weren't going to the Dr. or special classes like speech several times a week like my Mom. When it came time for a monthly payment, they cried poor. If they were poor, what were we? They claimed they had bad backs.
Then J. C. Penny (a clothing store in the states) called to find out if they could take the land that was bought with the 4 thousand because my cousin and her husband and kids had bought 4 thousand dollrs in clothes and not paid for them, their credit card company couldn't get the $ from them. No because it was also in my parents' name until it was paid off. Then they tried to go bankrupt and that would have given us only pennies on the dollar back. My Mother was so angry with them, good thing there is a law against killing your husband's relatives. We were wearing 2nd hand clothing, raising our own vegetables, etc. just to make ends meet and they were buying stuff all over town that they couldn't afford and had no intentions of paying off. My cousin's husband had gone bankrupt before.
Then they had the nerve to come to my graduation party and brag about going to someone else's graduation that was on a yaht. Too bad the yaht didn't sink and they didn't drown. Nasty people, absolutely nasty.

Thanks for best response or maybe worst relatives, not sure which. Later on, they lived with my Aunt (her mother) and had her sign over her trailer to them. They threw her out into the street. Can you imagine? Getting your Mother to sign a trailer over to you and then throwing her out? Good thing her other daughter took her in. And we thought what was done to us was bad!

Welcome to the world of munipulation my friend. This lady need some growing up to do or a good slap. I know people who do other things like this that I try to avoid because I need to stop getting stressed out over stupid people such as this. I can't waste my thoughts and time getting upset over nothing.
I don't know what's worse though, that lady or the people enabling her to do it?
Take care

I can not stand people like that. It's a shame u can't let people know her true colors. There is one woman that comes to mind that is on mylot. She is always whining about something. If i was in dire straights i wouldn't get on here & whine & bed. I have too much pride for that.

People just don't care anymore. Lazy and greedy sounds pretty normal now days. Alot of salesman and women in the world now days. Who is this woman? People really dont care about others and just are greedy. Sadly these people brake down doors and walk over anything in their way to get to what they want. But, then there are still some that have scruples and character. I believe in Karma and these people will get theres!! Hang in there!

I can understand why you mad.
I think that lady had to feel shame on herself.
Pretend to handy cap just to gain money which not suppose to be hers.
I personally think people with certain disabilities usually have big dignity and never use it to take other pity on them, they work hard like normal people.
I never respect any one who use their disability as a reason to get others pity to give them something.

ARGH. People that play the disabled card insense me. I was seriously injured in a car accident a couple of years back resulting in me becoming an amputee. So I am by all legal rights "disabled", but you will never convince me of that. LOL. I am proud of you for sticking to your morals and not supporting this type of behavior because it is truely disheartening to know that simply because she is too lazy she thinks she should get her way.
