I just came back from a long trip last week I was accompanied by 2 office mate in which it took us about 5 hours by plane to reached the destinations. When we arrived the place we had a good lunch in a native restaurant and one of my companion left her one carrier luggage in a restaurant in which she puts her travel documents and her money with some camera and a phone together. And she was really get panic as all her necessary things were inside the left luggage. And took general procedures to claim back the bag and it brings a lot of disturbances for us. Myself don't usually put important things in one bag.I used to separate money, from my travel documents and make separate cash or even travelers cheque in two different places. Sometimes we can't avoid some incidents to happened and you may end up nothing for putting them up in one place once you missed a thing all will included.I also make sure that I have a copy of my travel documents with me just in case I will lost them and Its easy for me to recover or even process a replacement for me in foreign countries. I'm encouraging everyone to protect and secure your things in proper before your trip. How about you my fellow mylotters .Do you keep your money and travelers cheque, travel documents in one bags? How do you secure your money and documents yourself during travel. Id love to hear from you and Good day every one!!

That's actually a good idea. I have never done that while travelling, but I guess I'm going to do it starting now. Hehehe. I have an out of the country trip this August, and I would surely remember your trip, cause it's really better to be safe and ready than to be sorry later. I really love the tip. Thanks Cloud!

Its an interesting thought, and knowledge to share. I have to admit since I have not had to do any traveling in ages, I am not sure what I would do. I guess I would end up putting them some in the carry on bag too, but most important items would carry with me, like pass post and money. I think having a debit card would be the best way to handle it with regards to money? I am not sure. What do you think?

Hello climber, In most places especially Asia and most part of Europe they are accepting debit cards but of course in Asia we can't sometimes say that debit card is always useful and sometimes debit card will also a bit confusing since it will be base in the currency which place you are visiting, debit card will be automatically convert in the local currency and that will be cause a bit confusions to you later especially when exchange is not always constant, it goes up and down day by day. So, I prefer to use travelers cheque to manage the exchange rate in that country I'm visiting and its negotiable in Asia when using TC, TC is one of the secured way to carry cash during travel, thief will not have chance to en cash your TC since they will be a lot of procedures and your Passport and genuine signature is a must before anyone encash your TC. Hope it helps a little.Thank you for being here and Good day ahead!

Hi rich, You are right! Its a really some kind of issue copying cards and make it as their own and even signatures, credit cards are most fearful of all, so its not always my way to use debit or credit cards. It has been done many situations like this especially those tourist attraction countries. Thanks for that!

Hi Mrl Trrs: I agree with you. Sometimes we forget that it's possible that we lose our documents, money and things while we're traveling so it's better to take these warnings. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

I think you've made some excellent suggestions. Carrying all of your important documents and money in one place is not a good idea. Copies of the first page of your passposrt should be placed in a seperate bag, your passport should be kept secure at all times. Money can be kept in two or three different places. Another thing I like to do is put some necessities in my carry-on, things like my toothbrush, change of clothes, etc. I can't tell you how many times my checked luggage has not arrived with me at our destination. Nothing like traveling all day to finally arrive at your destination and not have anything clean to change in to. Unless you're up to an immediate shopping trip, you'll spend your first night in the clothes you've been traveling in. Not always pleasant ;)

HI cloud! You have given some very good travelling tips and I loved your idea. I also keep the cash with me, while travelling and I keep a small portion of it in the suitcase. I keep a strict watch on my suitcase, in case, am travelling in a bus or a train and remain alert and agile all the time. I prefer not to indulge too much with suspicious looking strangers/passengers.

cloud I have not b een able to travel for sometime but we always had our important papers in different bags and we all knew what was in each bagso we could help each other if something happened. but we usually traveled in ou r own car but there was stowing luggage in motel rooms and such. one time my husmand and i and our adult son went to Baha californin and I left all my money and travelors checks in my purse.while we were busy in the kitchen of our motel room a mexican thief stole my hand bag, we called the police, and the office found my purse and my bill fold but all my money had been taken of course, but the idiot thief left my travelers checks at least. so morale to that story is when in Mexico lock your doors to cabins at all times as thiefs steal in the daytime.

Hello Ms Hatley, That's was really terrible experienced and so now I can say that incidents just there to happened unexpectedly so we should be aware of those kind of situation, I don't have this kind of terrible experience since I started traveling but I have witnessed a lot of incidents happened before and even now. Its still lucky your TC still there and its merely understood that carrying TC is safer than any others. Thank you for sharing ma'am.Take care and Have a nice day!

Hey cloud! You are obviously one smart woman! And also it is obvious that you travel frequently! I don't travel hardly at all, but do know that I keep my important papers and money close to me and in two places as you suggested that you do! I don't travel with alot of papers or money since I am only usually going to visit my Mom who lives 3000 miles away and less than a 3 hour flight! But, with all the security at the NY Airports I have to be careful what I do and what I take with me! If I travelled like you do I really would be scared! I am not thrilled to travel to begin with! I do hope your friend/office mate found her bag! Did she?
@cloud31 (5809)

Hello Ms Opal, Thank you for that words of compliments, I usually look forward over things might happen to me during travel and I've got no one to asked for help since I usually travels alone its just seldom I can have a company this time. My office mate can't recover her bag anymore and so she had to take general procedures to get a travel documents in the "Consulate" of the place where we were that time, and even she had to report to the police as "Consulate General" has to proved that the documents has been missing or stolen. Its really cause us a big trouble and I prefer to travel alone next time just kidding!! Thank you so much for being with me here today ma'am!Take care!

Hi Cloud, I just came back from a week-long family vacation in Hong Kong, and I think your discussion is very timely, and important too. I always keep the important travel documents along with other important things like my wallet, camera, etc. in my bag, this is the one I carry with me wherever I go, and I always check the contents just to make sure they're there and complete. Then I keep a small amount of money in my pocket, it's supposed to be my emergency money. Fortunately, I didn't encounter any problem similar to your friend's. Guess the key here is to be prepared and informed of the travel policies, and always be aware of your own things.

When traveling, i usually keep the money with me. I don't put it in my bag cuz it might get stolen or i might leave it somewhere. If the money is with me i'm sure i'll be taken care of. I trust myself to not let it get it stolen.

Hello frontvisions, That's perfectly the best way to keep your money in a way that no one could have chance to stole it.No one knows what incidents happen sometimes, so we need to be very careful of our things. Thank you for sharing and Good day!

Whenever I travel I carry all my travel documents, other documents and money on my person. The expensive items such as camera, mobiles and laptop I carry as cabin baggage. Even if my personal effects do not arrive at the destination I ensure that I am not put into inconvenience. If I visit restaurants I am conscious of things I am carrying and make sure that I take them along with when I leave. One ought to be careful with the things so that they are not lost. Losing travel documents and passport is terrible.

Hi there. I too do the same thing. The most important documents are in my hand bag which is always at my hear and whatever money or money related document, I don't accumulate in one bag. I distribute it evenly, so no matter if one bag gets lost I don't have to worry. I can realize the pain when some important documents get lost in some other country and its indeed a hell lot to suffer.

That is a great tip Cloud31, you are very smart and kind to share it with us. I do the same when i got the chance to travel. It is good if you separate important things from other things and those important things are always with you. And you have to separate your money to different parts of your clothing because you will never know if someone is trying to steal it from you.

When I travel, I keep my id on my person at all times because you never know when you are going to need to present them. However, I also make a photocopy of them and keep them with the rest of my luggage in case I lose my documents for some reason. As far as cash money goes, I don't carry a lot of it because if you lose it is gone. I instead prefer to use my credit card or debit card because then you have to sign for your transactions and there is protection against having your money stolen.

Hi cloud: I have to admit that I have never took one of these advices. I have always put all the important documents in one only bag. My only warning is that I keep them safe in the hotel when I arrive and I only take with myself the things that I need when I go to a reunion, etc. Thanks for sharing with us these advices. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

Hi, I normally carry all the travel documents in a pouch since it is easier to reach foir when needed. My money is kept seperately so also cheques etc;. I normally have them all in my hand grip so that it van be easily reached. So far I have not had any misadventure while travelling , except a lost baggae which was the fault of the airline, but they did locate it and sent it to my home after a weeks time !
