Answering to the question, NO. Mostly I try yo consume every fruit along with the skin as the skin contains a lot of vitamins. There is an exception for some like the banana, orange(though the dietitians recommend taking the peels cooked), jack fruit() and like.

Hi billybibps, I know the skin of fruits contain lots of vitamins though I still prefer to take the trouble to peel off them before eating. From many articles I have read it's obvious that skins of most of the fruits contain chemical toxin like pesticide, etc to keep away the harmful injurious insects. Other than that the wax type anti-staling agent do apply on the outer part of the fruits to keep them always look fresh and striking I am afraid that taking too much this awful stuffs might bring harm to our health. As we know from small increments comes abundance for long term for sure. Therefore I prefer to abandon the skins which are rich in vitamins and minerals. I don't want to be the victim of these chemical toxin Take care and happy posting

It's really to know that you could get wild fruits in your place. Wow it's safe to consume such wonderful fruits together with the skin! For they are not contaminated with any chemical stuffs at all. I do live in a modern village as well! Here sometime wild fruits are available in the local morning bazaar too.

I live in a town friend, but my mother goes to our village very often so she gets people(my relatives) give her wild fruits to take home :) Well and the morning bazaar I really love it, especially the early morning bazaar that starts at about 4am, we get so fresh vegetables and fruits... all wild and nothing actually made for long-time use :)

My mother would be so angry when i have those mango stains on my clothes. They never go off easily and so she had to strain a lot to get them removed, while i sit and watch her do it :)

Much like you, I will not eat the peel of citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, lemons and the like and I also don't eat the peel of a banana. However, I will eat the peel of most of the other fruits. They don't taste bad at all, but this is the part of the fruit that has the most nutrients for us in them. I grew up in a home where we ate the peel of the fruits and that is what I am teaching my children now that I have two of my own.

Hi friend, nice to see that you teach your children the same. It is really healthy as you have mentioned, eating fruits with their skin, and i will do the same as well... though.... hm... i am still just a little guy and don't have kids.. anyways i'll spread word among my little friends :) Most of my friends just waste the skin of most fruits like mango, pear, apple...

Because if i am eating it i prefer skin on, but if i make a meal for us he would prefer to have it peeled, sliced and usually sugar on it.

For fruits where you don't normally eat the peel (oranges, bananas, etc.), I don't eat them at all. But if you can eat the peel, I'll eat it. It's a waste of fiber. Besides, they're good sources of empty calories, as my friend says. They're filling and you don't have to worry about gaining pounds. You're right about them having all those vitamins as well. It's all goes down to personal taste I guess.

Yes, it has a lot of fibres and vitamins and all but i have different words now friend, if you just read the comment above yours you will know why. The fruits cultivated in these modern days have a lot of chemical coating as well, so they bring more harm rather than delivering the fibres and vitamins to the body.

Ohh I was about to say about bananas and oranges . But one thing funny i do to apples is that I don't peel it, i want to eat it together with its nutritious skin, but i will just chew it and juice it up but i will still not swallow it all, i would spit on the remaining .

Yes, the last part of the apple is just like pulp... no juice so no taste he he But i swallow it, maybe i'm lazy to spit it out

ear the ski on every fruit, except the banana. I couldn't see my self not peeling it off before eating it. With my luck, I'd accidentally swallow the sticker they often put on it.

Hi friend, swallowing the sticker can be bad... but you gave a hearty laugh for me :)

I try to eat the peel whenever possible, except for bananas, oranges, mangoes, papaya, grapefruit, pineapple . . . all the ones that are just too tough. I just learned that avocado was a fruit - and I don't eat avocado peels either. I have taken off the peel for my daughter when she was little as it was a choking hazard, but she can handle them now - peels are no biggie finally!
