Do you give money to specific charities, if so are they charities in your own country or different countries?
The only charity I give to directly is a childrens charity in my country, but only when there's someone outside the supermarket collecting with a tin.
I also go to quite a few charity shops, but only ones that support causes in my own country.

There are far too many charities now and a lot of the time most of the donations go to administration. I do shop at charity shops sometimes but, like you, only the ones that support the causes in my own country.

Yes, I do give to charities, but I only give to certain charities, mostly I give to ones for my own country, but I do usually put a donation in the Christian Aid envelope when it comes round. I know that certain charities use most of their money on administration and staff wages, instead of putting it to good use, but there are a lot of charities that give almost all the proceeds to their cause instead of admin. The company I used to work for only helped people in our local community, I believe something like 90% of the profits went to the people that needed it, I know they didn't have many paid staff and the staff that did get paid didn't get paid very much. I do get annoyed when I get stopped in the street and asked to help out a charity, especially when they want my bank details, I'm not going to give my bank details out in the middle of the street to a complete stranger. If someone asks me to donate to a certain charity I usually say no and I tell them I only donate to designated charities. I do think there's too much going on here in my own country that needs sorting out to send money to other countries, yes there are starving and homeless people in other countries and abused women and children in other countries, but, that also happens here, we should try to help out people in our own country first, well actually that should really be the governments job, charities shouldn't have to exist, but that's a different matter. In short, yes I give money to charities and yes mostly in my own country.

I have donated to Children In Need. I found out that 100% of donations goes to the charity because ALL the other stuff is volunteered.

I don't often give money to charities but when I do, I will only give to tghose which operate in my own country. I know there are all sorts of problems in different places but there are a lot here. There are people in poverty HERE and there are homeless people HERE and there are children who need help HERE so I don't see why I should put some other country's needs before my own.
