How did your avataar come by???

Dear Buddies... I just updated my avatar and trust me, it is not my real pic 
. It is a pic of Sherlock Holmes- the Legendary Detective, whose stories have amazed the world for one century.. I am one of his millions of fans. So I chose to put his pic in the place of my 'avatar'. You would ask, why didn't I place my real pic... Well, I have never looked better than 'Devil' in any of my pics, so far; 
so I am scared to show my face to myLotters... Also, there are a few private and personal reasons (safety and security!)
As I just updated my avatar, I had this question in my mind: 'Now, they'll ask why did I choose this pic?' And decided to answer the question myself LOL... While answering it, I got curious about so many friends here on myLot... There are so many and with so many avatars.
Let us discuss, how did your Avatar come by? Why did you choose your present avatar? Those who have posted their pics, can let us know a little about when that pic was taken???

It's my picture. :D
My daughter took it a few weeks ago after I got my hair cut.
Oh wait, that's my Yahoo IM picture.
This one was taken in 2007 when I was playing with the camera in front of the mirror.
Maybe I'll change it to the other one and then you'll be really confused. :D

My avatar is a symbol from the movie Twilight and the reason I picked this one is because it represents my favorite interest right now. I just adore the Twilight Saga. I feel that it is a phenominon now and is truely changing people's lives. I know it's changed mine.

Mr_pearl.. oh my you have to see the Twilight Saga! Twilight and New Moon are out now but Eclipse is coming out on June 30th in theatres and I can't wait!! Breaking dawn is the last one and it's not coming out until November 18th 2011. That's a really long time to wait. The books are very well writen and for me I can't stop reading them! If you're going to start the Twilight Saga you should read the Twilight book then watch the movie, then read New Moon, then watch the movie, and so on.

Well when I first joined mylot I would pic an avatar from picture graphics sites that offer avatar pics free, and I'd just pic what I liked.
But after a while I decided to create my own avatar because I thought why use art work that someone else created when I can just create my own avatar, I've been an artist since I was very little so I decided to make my avatar using computer art software completely from scratch.
So what your seeing is one of my creations basically a girl with black hair, and pink dress on light blue back around, not my best work but it will do for now lol, though lately of been considering making another avatar pic a much better version of what you see now.

Hi Apples... Well, I congratulate you... Your art is wonderful... I trust, it is an artistic copy of yourself... It looks great... It feels great too, to read from someone who's created their own avatars... The person who posted above your post- Hatley- is also an artist... Her avatar is also her own creation... I really had no idea that people would be creating their own avatars... Wonderful!!!

I made the mistake of having several avatars. Part of it is what was available on that site, part of it is my mood at the time. I have a smile, a whirling Taz and a Tweety. I also have a cactus for Texas. Some of my traffic sites are requiring me to put my picture...With the security of the internet today I am hesitant to do that however does look more professional.

Hi Texlady... Thanks for sharing... This is my first avatar on myLot and I wouldn't plan to change it for long time (as I am quite lazy)... I agree that with mood one can keep changing, though... I mean, I had no plans about avatar till the evening and later, it just happened...
Internet isn't really secure, when it comes to privacy and safety measures... So we must be careful, I agree with you....

My avatar is my favorite symbols. I can sing and play the Violin, guitar, autoharp , and recorder. So Music Is Very impotant to me so I searched and found this Treble Clef. I am so glad I found it when I did. I looked for it recently to use as a avatar at my friend's site,and I couldn't find it.

Hi Sarah... Thanks for sharing... Wow!! It is a music symbol... Well, to tell you the truth, these music symbols are 'greek and latin' for me... I had always imagined that your avatar was related to something ancient and spiritual... Well, music is ancient and spiritual too, so guess, I was right there... :)
If you want to re-use it, then why don't you copy it from myLot and save it on your desktop... Then you can use it wherever you wish,... Hope it'll work...

Yes. It is musical symbol. It is symbolizes the music keys that violins and guitars and higher notes on the piano play in. That's the best way to explain.Thanks for the tip. I'll try it.

h mr pearl I too love Sherlock Holmes and A Conan Doyle, so can understand your avatar. Mine is one of my graphic which I love to make, and since I have so many I do change it occasionally.

Hi,
I have changed my avatar since I firt came here. I decided to put a picture that had something to do with my last vacations, as I have vacations only thanks to my online earnings. My first avatar was a picture of me taken aboard a sailboat. Some friends invited me for a 3 week sailing trip to the Caribbean if I paid for my airfare. Mylot and others helped with the payment and I was part of the sailboat´s crew.(I´ll put a picture of it here).
My last vacations were about a month ago. I went to the south of Chile (my country) where there are hotsprings. I needed that because I had shoulder surgery a little over 2 months ago and I need therapy for at least 6 months. This time I did not find a good picture of myself but I put something that is even better: our national flower that grows in the native forests as vines.
I don´t think anything will happen to me if I post a picture of myslf so I never think of security reasons.

Hi marguicha... Thanks for sharing... Seems as if, you really love to travel a lot... Wonderful!!! Your pic seems great too... Your present avatar really looks great... I mean, the flowers are really beautiful. It is good thing that you don't have to worry about security over the internet... I am not that fortunate, though... :(

It is pleasure to read your post, as there are many things common between us... I wasn't worried about security till last year. But the things are going on dangerous tracks now... I can smell it!!! I am least worried about hackers...
The things is I write a lot about my personal life here.. And I don't want some people to know that it is 'I'... My personal safety will be in danger, if my identity is known... This avatar of mine (Sherlock Holmes!) will keep them away .... Have a happy week end!!!

The security part might be due to ignorance! I don´t know anything about hackers, except for the name.
But in general, I´m not worried about security. I sleep alone with my house wide open. Im more worried about earthquakes than of thieves. I have beed robbed a couple of times in my life, but the thieves were as ignorants as I am in technology. They stole some loose money and clothes and a radio and a TV set. But did not touch good paintings on my wall nor persian rugs that cost much more money. The other thieves are my closest friends and family: they are permanently taking away my books and not returning them

I have the rose avatar, because that is my favorite flower. I have never changed it, although I could change it to something else, but I really don't think I iwll do that. I just hope that others aren't getting tired of looking at it, as it expresses the way I feel about roses. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

My avatar is actually a manga of my image. I did this a few years ago. Until now, I kept this to use for my other online accounts. I am not really afraid to show who I am. But I am much comfortable with this image on the web. Since we will be facing a lot of different persons who doesn't use their own images as well. Right? By the way, you really have a nice discussion here. I could have made it myself! ^_^

Hi! nice question! i came across my avatar a few years ago, and it depicted this "savvy" mom and her child. i thought it kind of represented me and my baby daughter. ever since i've been using it!
