My daughter she is very fussy in eating food. She need variety and taste in food as we all are vegetarian. One day We went to some party ,there my friend give her a piece of chicken and she ate that and she wants more after that whenever we go out we take chicken soup for her and she likes to have that very much. This is strange as we all are vegetarian while she loves chicken. Is this kind of situation comes to you also?

She is just a kid and doesn't know anything about 'vegetarian'. If parents a vegetarian, it doesn't really mean that their kids will be vegetarian also. Wait until your daughter reaches the age where she can make her own choices. Now teach her and educate her about being a vegetarian but don't really push her into being one.

Hi. rastogisw. I believe that your daughter just loves chicken. She may not be a vegetarian like you all are. I think that at seven months old she should not eat chicken at this age. Not unless it is chicken that has been processed, as being baby food. I know that they make white meat chicken for toddlers and all. I think that this is okay for your daughter to eat chicken then.

oh, really... just try to limit the chicken intake, chickens can really cause skin and asthma problems when eaten too much... you do not want her to develop poor skin do you?

We are not vegetarians. My kids all like to eat meat and so do we. I think it is good to be a vegetarian and we tried it for a while but we just could not continue to do it the pull for meat was just to big for us. I guess it is like cigerettes we are addicted to it or something. I think it is good that you let your daughter make her own decisions on what she likes to eat.

Well chicken is good. At 7 months old she does not really understand what it is to be a vegetarian and that the rest of you do not eat meat. She only knows what she was given and that she likes it. I am glad to hear that you are allowing her to make her own decisions and her own choices about what she likes to eat.

I raised both our daughters as vegetarians, but they see and are around meat all the time as my husband eats meat and often cooks it. Now my eldest is 10, she eats meat sometimes, if Dad cooks some chicken or bacon, or if we go to a restaurant. My 5 yr old has never tasted meat and is 100% vegetarian (apart from a brief run in with a dab of taramasolata that she thought was going to be sweet as it was pink!) I don't like seeing my eldest tucking in to a bacon sandwich, as I don't believe it is optimal nutritionally, ethically or environmentally. But I accept that she is growing up and making her own decisions, and needs to try stuff out - and I know nothing makes a food more desirable than it's being 'forbidden fruit' either! Our girls are growing up seeing Mum eats one way, Dad a different way, and they will find their own way in time. Your daughter will surely do the same. What you cook for her is up to you, I would never cook meat for anyone! But I know plenty of vegetarians who do prepare meat for family and friends.

I think that's fine! Sure some meat isn't the healthiest but there are essential vitamins we get from eating meat. Like you said, she's a year old, she doesn't have to be vegaterian. Though I do warn, try not to force / preach to her about becoming one, as it may end up driving her in a rebelious phase quite early.

I think most kids like chicken. Also, just because parents or other relatives are vegetarians, it doesn't mean that their kid would be a vegetarian as well. And most of all, she's just a year old. I guess there's nothing to worry about.
