Help swollen ankles

United States
June 8, 2010 3:34pm CST
So I am now 9 months pregnant and I was fine when it came to the swelling but since the heat hit, my poor ankles are suffering. I have been drinking lots of water and taking extra fiber and vitamin c but still it does not help. Any ideas, tips or anything.

I guess putting ice on them doesn't help? Of course that is inconvenient. This recommendation won't help your ankles, but how about screaming at your man? It might make you feel better.

LMAO, it may help a little... actually the temps here dropped today to abnormally cold and the swelling went down now I am hoping the cool weather sticks around for a little bit. I just need a week or two until the induce me.

Hiya Lady, Well let´s hope the cool Weather stays and hangs in on there for a while till you can have your Baby Girl. Wow that is your fourth pregnancy. I have been pregnant five times too. Once was a double one which I did not know about till they arrived. Wishing you all the luck Lady.

Restrict your intake of sodium(salt). Try to keep off your feet as much as you can and put your feet up. You and my grand daughter are about the same amount of months along. She is due in early August.

I get them up when I can. It was a little surprising yesterday I went in for the usual appointment and since it was so cool I was barley swollen (yeah!), I had lost 6 lb.s of water since Friday! That was a shock I knew my ankles where big but not that bad. Id this your first great grandbaby? We have lots of kids in our family... for my husbands grandparents this makes great grand baby 18! That's from two kids who gave them 5 grandkids now a house full of great grand babies. As of this baby my Gram will have 6 great granddaughters. She only had granddaughters to begin with, she is a little curious as to see if she will ever have a grandson...lol

hi opinionatedLady oh my dear go to your ob gyn as thats serious and could be about to cause high blood pressure, he needs to check you out to be sure kidneys a nd all are working okay. He will probably put you on a durietic like lasix to get rid of the excess fluid in your legs. I have swollen legs caused by sitting too long here on the computer so am given lasix with potassium for five days to get rid to get rid of the fluid. That fluid cannot be good for heart or kidneys. please see your gynecologist.

hi I am glad its just part of being pregnant, you know its been awhile for me, my son is 51 and I am 83 my lord thats a really long time. I remember thinking I would never see my ankles again. Now I get swollen legs from sitting here too long mylotting. My doctor checked my heart and kidneys and all is well. thank goodness for that but having to take lasix is no fun as you get to talking to someone and all of a sudden you have to dash to the restroom.

Hiya Lady, Best thing would be to see your Doctor about the swollen ankles seeing as you are ready to give birth anytime now. Swollen ankles are a bother. You can also try drawing a figure of eight with each foot or simply keeping your feet a bit higher that yourself. Wear as much loose clothing too and no restrictive shoes or socks that will only make it worse. But I personally would be going to see my Doctor with this one and check to see everything is okay. Good luck Lady are you having a Boy or Girl? Either way hope you have an easy Birth and a happy time with your aby when he or she is born.

I see my doctor twice a week now and they know and say it's just being pregnant. There is no issue with my blood pressure and I keep my sugars better then they ever believed I could so it's just something I have to deal with, blah. We are having our 4th girl and no my hubby is not getting another chance at having a biological son. He wants one that bad we're adopting after this..lol, actually that was the plan before this one but surprise not all contraceptives work! I don't mind really just been a long hard pregnancy is all.
