Mosquito so many here

India

It rained last fortnight and last week too, mosquitoes bred so fast. It is difficult to sleep at night, even in day time they are there in less numbers. The so called mosquito coils, sprays, vaporizer are no more effective, they contain the same basic poison chemical; ‘d-trans Alledrin’ in low concentration, 0.1% W/W, with some perfume added. DDT is also no more effective. I remember the old days. In 1959 the persons from Health Dept used to spray DDT in our homes. When they sprayed in neighbors homes, the mosquitoes, house lizards and cockroaches in our homes died instantly. I usually didn’t allow DDT spray in my home, as the walls look disfigured. But today you dip them in DDT solution, they don’t die. So for driving mosquitoes and rodents I am using ‘electronic’ mosquito repellent, it produces high frequency sound waves, that irritates them. It seems it is useful, better than those having chemicals. The chemicals can harm our health, particularly the baby’s. What is your view on this? Do you have mosquitoes in your home, how you drive them or kill them? Please share. Professor

Hi Professor, I don't know how you can keep them out of the room but to stop them attacking you and bitting you try eating a diet which has a lot of garlic and chili in it and drinking tonic water. Since I started eating raw garlic once a day the mosquitoes seem to leave me alone.

Hi richnai, Most of my friends eat loads of garlic so it was a case of joining them and reaping the benefits from being left alone by the mozies.

Hello Professor. There flew in a mosquito a few days ago. It is because my screen door was taken off for repairing. Today it is installed again. With the screen door and my screen windows, it is difficult for mosquitoes to fly in unless one flies in at the same time I get into my apartment. Mosquitoes are a nuisance that carry diseases. I have never liked them. Sometimes I use mosquito coils to drive them away if they come into the house. Take care.

I usually put a mosquito web around my bed to prevent them from coming inside, however what I noticed is very strange as when I was sleeping I heard them just very near to my ears,I hate them because they bite and can leaves bacteria too. I have an electric repellent at home and often use it to drive them out or simply to kill them.

It is the rapid vibration of the wings that we hear, they don't produce any sound, mosquito net/web around bed is good, but i can't sleep inside, feel suffocated.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

dear professor, mosquitoes are really very annoying. mosquitoes seems to be magnetized by me (friends say i have sweet blood and i always get a bite everyday in my life). while i was young mom always uses mosquito nets when we sleep. but now i feel i could not breath well when it is over me. so i do rely on mosquito repellent, the cream. have a nice day. ann

Thankfully they aren't inside our house. However, outside the house is a whole different story. I was outside with my son today for a little over an hour while he was playing in the yard with some toys and then with some friends. In that period of time I know that I got at least twenty mosquito bites that I didn't have prior to being outside. Typically the way that I'm able to deal with this is that I simply avoid being outside in the evening hours because there are far more out during that timeframe.

Hi there professor. I am sorry to hear that your locality has lots of mosquitoes. I hate to get bitten by mosquitoes and some of them can carry malaria. When I went to Kenya I was worried about the possibility of getting malaria. I used arm and leg bands with deet on them. I put trousers and socks on before the sunset. I visited the Maldives and the house keeping team lit a mosquito coil every evening. I don't enjoy using chemicals. I think that electronic mosquito repellent sounds great. If there are sand flies I put baby oil on my legs when I go to a beach that suffers from them. In my home country we have some biting bugs. We don't have mosquitoes but I have seen them when I have been traveling overseas.

Dear friend, We usually use a viberator which makes a certain type of sound and this is very cheaply available in market. Moreover there is no smell or the air is not polluted. Only sound polution for thsoe who do not like that sound. I get a better result from this than any other things I had used. Moreover I hope this electric sound do not do much harm to humans.

awh yeah the mosquitoes are literally driving us insane these days..why don't you call the agent that is responsible for spreading the medicine that would keep all types of insects away for 3months in max!! it does help very much..or else try to close the windows before late afternoon or you could even cover the windows with a fixed nets..

WE used to get so many mosquitos and other bugs that would fly into our place during the day time and night time. But once we added some mesh netting screen to the windows there have been fewer bugs. But I do get the occasional mosquito coming in and then biting me. They are the trained ninja of the bug world because they come in and then bite and take your blood without you knowing until you scratch the area. lol. There are many different kinds of mosquito repellent products sold here in my country.

Even I remember government people with DDT spray machine but seem that the government has stopped this practice. I was in school when I saw this happening last. DDT is harmful but it was most effective for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes attack mostly in the rainy season and in Pune it always rain only after mid june. I am not in Pune so cannot really say that what is the mosquitoes days there but there were not much in the last season. You can use net to protect from mosquitoes. That is a good way to be safe from such insects.

Bhuwan, You have to get rid of those pests as they carry diseases with them. Buy natural organic repellant. Yes I believe that mosquitoes have now mutated. That is why it is better to use organic and natural means. We have this certain fruit in the Philippines but it is seasonal it's called Lanzons. My dad used to gather the skin of this fruit and then placed it over a small metal container over hot coals and smoke it all over the house. It was effective so far. But then we only have this fruit during the summer season. Also check your house's window screens if there is any hole. If you have not placed screen in your windows put on. Also may I suggest Mosquito nets when you sleep and also get rid of any stagnant water in the house. If you stock water in containers make sure they are well covered. Do not place flowers in flower vases as the water in the vase can become a breeding place for the mosquito. Hope this helps. Candy

Well, I am from India, and special when there's rain number of Mosquito increases. Really it's irritating situation when you are about to sleep, and a single mosquito would come and sit on your cheek and about to take its dinner with your blood. I use All Out, it works well, electronic mosquito repellent? Well, I am not familiar with that? Does it work? How it looks like? Do we have to plug in it into electric socket?

First thing first, you better gotta check the places where they can actually breed on. Then the next thing to do is to eradicate their reservoir. Afterward, all you gotta do is to do primary precautions by wearing long sleeves, pajamas, and mosquito repellents... I think that would be all i guess...
