This is pretty funny - HuffPo readers make embarrassing mistake

The Huffington Post has a post up about the "over the top" lines used in the trailer for Glenn Beck's new book, The Overton Window. There are 22 pages of comments from the well-educated liberals who wouldn't dream of deciding what kind of latte to order at Starbucks without first reading the HuffPo. They are all poking fun at the poem featured in the trailer. They find the poem to be laughable and poorly written. One commenter even calls Beck the "Satanic Dr Seuss". The only problem is that Beck didn't write the poem. The winner of the 1907 Nobel Prize for Literature, Rudyard Kipling, wrote it. It's pretty funny to read these comments making fun of the poem under their false assumption that Beck is the author. Of course, eventually some kind conservatives (you know, the unwashed rednecks who are still clinging to their guns and their bibles and aren't smart enough to understand the Obama health care plan or they'd be all for it) and explain to the liberal commenters that Kipling is the author of the poem. The liberals stop commenting and laughing so much after that. If you just need a good laugh, go and read the post. It's pretty embarrassing for the HuffPo and its readers, so it might disappear soon. I'd recommend reading it right away before they delete it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/09/glenn-beck-book_n_606750.html

I see that they put up a blurb about Beck not writing the poem! It's very disturbing to see, in the past couple of years, how people believe everything the hear. You can tell them fantastic, unbelievable things or promise them hope and change without specifying what your plans are and they'll believe it. They don't bother to research anything and take everything at face value. It's scary how dumb this nation has become.

The "UPDATE" was added after I wrote this post. I love the "ummm, we didn't mean to say we thought Beck wrote it" attitude of the update but reading the article, you can see the author making fun of the poem BECAUSE they think Beck wrote it. Not fooling anyone.

Rollo: I've seen this sort of dodge frequently with the Left, when they get caught with their pants in a puddle around their ankles. They're such cowards. OH, OH! I need a laugh! ME, ME! This is uberelite, I'm-better-than-you horsecrap at its finest. Everybody saying that we'd be for healthcare if only we could understand it would be deadset against it if it was a Bush WH creation. They're not fooling anyone. I need to go read those comments! I'm itchin' in anticipation. I love it when the maroons pat each other on the back in a long train without knowing what it's about beyond seeing that their buddy just patted the last guy.

First page read. My favorite line: "This is why Democrats never join debate clubs."

Since the time I wrote this post, they've added a disclaimer "UPDATE" saying they didn't mean to imply Beck wrote the poem. Hardly believable considering the amount of ridicule heaped upon it in the article and definitely not something the readers knew based on the amount of ridicule heaped on it in the comments. So sad that people won't think for themselves.

Yes. It's painfully obvious that readers thought it was Beck's poem and that the disclaimer came later. Or else, comments woulda been more like, "Of course he didn't write the stupid poem. He doesn't write his books either. He can't write!" Instead, it's just more of the "idiot," "chalkboard" and "faux news" crap that one writes because the previous one wrote it, and they wrote it because the previous one wrote it, and they wrote it because the article writer wrote it. On and on and on... I found a new favorite line, where some commenter was going on about how it's a false perception and bad stereotype that liberals are elite and well educated, and the guy said, "If someone referred to liberals as elite or educated, they were mistaken. Thank you for clearing that up!"

That is very good. Thanks for pointing it out. The liberals are generally so stuck on themselves that they have no need for facts. They just start attacking and are certain they are right.
