Hi Friends I have been gone because someone hacked my account and deleted it and I have been unable to do anything this week. I have no idea how it got reinstated as MyLot still has not contacted me so if you are there Alice, Thank you..And Gaby if you were responsible for my reinstatement, than Thank you to ,,I'll email you..I use Norton security and I don't know if any of you use them but I'm about to get rid of them. I pay good money to have my computer secured and 2 weeks ago, someone hakced my email account and started using my account to send out all kinds of garbage to everyone I know..Then someone got into my account at ChaCha where I work everyday and tried to mess with over 100.00 of my earnings on my debit card, then this week it was MyLot..I have written to Norton and am waiting on a response from them. It wasn't my choice to switch to them, I use Comcast and we always had McAfee where I never had a single problem. For whatever reason, Comcast dropped McAfee and signed with Norton and gave us no option but to switch with them..Now, I'm going to have to pay extra to get McAfee back..Has anyone else had problems with Norton and if so how did you resolve them?

Oh dear, that's not good my friend. I have had both Norton and McAfee in the past and preferred the latter as Norton slowed my machine up badly. I now have Avira as recommended by some XP geek and it's been very good. In fact, I have had the upgraded version for nothing during the last 30 days but I will have to go back to the free version as I don't have money to buy it. I can't understand why we have to pay extra for all this, anyway. One would've thought that it would be all built-in...it used to in the "old days."

Hi Janey..I know, it should all be built in, I agree..I'm going back to a free service, either AGV or Microsofts as everyone that is using these is very pleased with no reports of misuse..I hate Norton and plan to uninstall it tomorrow just as soon as I speak to them about getting some money back..I do not feel I should have to pay them when I have been hacked 3 times since I got them just a couple of months ago..I'm sure that will be a battle..I'm not familiar with Avira but will check it out..Thanks J

Oh no sulsisles, that's terrible..We had norton the first two years we had a computer..Did you just download norton or did you buy the 70 plus dollar Cd you get every year to hook up to the parent company? That is what we had, but couldn't afford it anymore, so we started using road runners CA because my neighbor said she had no problems with it and she had kids downloading limewire and stuff..but eventually our computer crashed, whether it was something we did or that CA didn't catch, I don't know. Now we have AVG and so far we are doing well and it sometimes does catch a trojan virus and took care of it for us..

Hey Carm..I was freaking out cause I didn't know how to reach you..Send me your email in a PM one of these days..I had no idea if my account would be reinstated or not and I was really concerned cause I haven't taken any pay from MyLot in almost a year and have some money built up..Its a horribe feeling to be hacked. Its such a personal invasion..what is wrong with people..Have they nothing better to do than to make problems for people they don't even know?? The world is full of sick people. I am paying for the CD just like you did. I'm going to try to get a refund and opt out of their security all together. I also used AVG before when I was broke and should have stayed with them. Never had a problem, ever..I have every intention of getting them again once Norton is out of here..What a hassel this week has been..on top of everything else, I told Jim that I'm leaving in August so you can imagine what the tension is like around here..You could cut it with a knife..I don't need any of this...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Oh I'm sorry sulsisels, I wish I can give this to you in person, seeing how you can't really feel pictures, but here's a hug anyways.. So you made your decision? Good, if that is the last resort, I would say go for it and don't look back..

Hi sulsisels! I didn't know you before, but I am a very close friend of Gabs and she told me your predicament and I told her to keep at mylot admin until she got through to them and I am so glad it worked! I haved both McAfee and Norton only and am now listening to the other Lotters and when my "computer guy" gets back from his vacation will ask him about this other one that everyone is recommending! I know nothing about computers so I am at their mercy! I am just glad that you are back and so sorry for what has happened to you! I am always so afraid when I shop online that this is going to happen to me sooner or later too! I am sending you a friend request so don't get scared! Gabs can vouch for me!

Hello sulsisels and welcome back, Sad to read all your problems. You may have a key logger in your computer and an antivirus is not enough. Try to download and install a firewall -- the free one from CIS will work here : http://www.comodo.com/ -- to detect it ; you will have to remove the trojan key logger by hand though.

Great advice Top. I use Nortons 360. It comes with a superb firewall. I swear by Nortons as I've used it many years and yet to have issues such as hackers, trojans, worms etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

It is a trojan that you have installed accidentally in your computer. It is not a virus, so an antivirus is often useless here. When you type a password the key logger catch it and send it somewhere in the net to your hacker. A firewall tracks all the activity between your computer and the network. Put the security to the maximum level : each time a software will want to send an information from your computer to the net, it will need your authorization to do it. Allow the trusted one -- your browser, email, software updates, etc. -- to work definitely and look at the others : you will find soon or later the culprit. Until you have solved this problem, it would be good to log in your e-currencies and bank accounts only by using a Live CD -- by example Dpup : www.dpup.org/ --, to limit the risks.

Herro sulsisels Let's see, where to start. I'm an experienced surfer, been working surf to earn for about 10years. I've experienced a lot of virus programs. from free ones to Norton. I didn't have any real problems with Norton, except reports from my friends. I had used Panda in the past and loved it. I get it through an organization I belong to. It updates automatically and so far, has stopped any threats. I've used it for approx 3yrs. There are some trojans that will come in and do the kinds of things you describe. If you had Norton and had these problems I would change programs. I had another option when my Norton expired and had a program I liked so switched. Prosperous mylotting

Norton use to be the best one for detecting viruses. But it has lost it's ratings and lets things come through all the time. I use to count on them as they were the best, not anymore. I now use AVG which is much better.

First I'd like to say welcome back. Now getting to Norton. You said your email was hacked. Hackers are after a lot bigger things. They don't mess around with sending junk email. You were phished which means that some how your login information was stolen. This usually happens when someone is tricked into putting their login information into a false login form that looks like it comes from a legitimate site. Norton does have anti phishing protection. As long as you have it turned on and keep it updated it should work. They can't always catch every thing though and its up to us to look at the address bar to make sure that what we are logging into is the official login page for whatever site we are using. Norton has been alright for me so far. Its blocked a lot of attack attempts on my computer. Downside is its a damned memory hog. You couldn't pay me to use McAfee again. We had so much trouble with that one I felt like it was more of a virus than antivirus.

HI and soooo glad you have this problem fixed ! I hate Norton. I used AVG for a long long time and then an ice storm took out that computer. This new one is a DEll and I don't like it. I tried AVG and it was probably me but Mcaffee just kept popping up and it was free for the first few days and I just thought, ok, we'll try it ! I like it ! no troubles so far. It does tell me when a site is a bad one or a suspected bad one. I know that some personal emails I get McAfee says it is not safe............I wonder if they use an anti virus program or not but guess I am afraid to ask.... Still you are back and going strong. Congrats! Many hugs, quita

Hi quita,,You and me both..I have uninstalled it this morning and gone back to AVG..I used them before for quite a while and NEVER had a single problem. The only reason I swithced to Norton is because that is what Comcast uses (they swithced from McAfee to Norton a few months back)and they are my ISP..This whole thing has been such a hassel for me, I guess I should be grateful that my whole computer wasn't ruined..That must have been terrible for you..Thanks so much for your response..Have a great, computer safe (lol) weekend!! Well, now we know what all the suspense was about with Gabs..she's so funny! Glad to see you're up and running again. It's just horrible when stuff like this happens because you feel so helpless while the perpetrator sits back and laughs. It's disgusting to me and I wish some day that we could reverse the situation and send those virus's back to them. I used Norton for many years up until about 2 years ago. I had nothing but trouble with my computer and couldn't figure out what to do and Norton didn't find anything. Then finally, after doing much research, I ended up finding "Malwarebytes" which controls Malware and Spyware on your computer. It was a free download, and within seconds found the Vundo H Trojan right smack inside my registry, and quarantined it. That is a nasty trojan and very hard to get rid of. Norton found absolutely nothing during this time. So, I dumped Norton and took the loss on money, kept the Malwarebytes, and have had no problems since. You can also buy Malwarebytes and it will scan all day long for you just like any virus or spyware program. The free download (can't afford to pay for it right now as I'm out of work, but would in a second if I could) that I have right now I have to manually scan myself because it's free, but I love it! It can ALSO work besides a virus control such as McAfee as double protection with no effects on the computer. Glad your back and safe and sound!!
