I hate family blogs!

I have a blog on blogspot, and I like to browse/leave comments on other people's blogs every so often. Whenever I browse using the "next" button, I always inevitably end up in a string of family blogs. I cannot stand them! I swear every single one of them has a professionally taken family portrait as the headline image. I am so sickof seeing all those goodie-two-shoes, celluloid smiling faces. On top of that, a number of them have some cheesy country song on autoplay. I really don't understand why or how people would want to make all that family info and photos public, for anyone on earth to see. I could understand making a such blogs for your friends and extended family, but I do think it would be a much better idea to make them private or password only or something like that for the good of everyone- I don't want to see them and creepy serial killer-stalker types could see them and cause a threat to them. Anyways, that's just my rant on family blogs. What do you think of them, if you are a blogger as well?

Well I will put my two cents in. LOL. Blogs now-a-days are social sites also. Since most families don't live around close like back in the days that is there only way to allow other family members, friends, etc. to communicate for less. There are quite a few of them out there and you will see more and more. I have one that is personal but mostly it was started because I am relocating to Oregon from Oklahoma and a friend of mine suggested that I blog the places I see, suggestions, pictures, etc. But I will continue this personal blog so my friends and pen pals have an inexpensive way to see what I am up to. But I have two other blogs as well. What kind of blogs are you looking for?

But if you're intending it for friends and family, shouldn't it have private settings? The blogs I like to read are more about stuff like music, art, fashion, travels, and societal commentary.

I blog about everything, including but not limited to my family. It can range from my son, to my pets, to my job, to my art, to whatever interesting I've found on the internet lately. I don't have auto playing music, but chances are good taht you'd hate my blog anyway. lol

Well, not necessarily. I guess I mean I hate the blogs that sound like overly obesessed parents- people who'd post thing like (only ONLY such things): "Baby Amelia ate her first pea today! It was so exciting!....Our little princes(bla bla bla)...She caught a bug and called it a 'weener'..." etc. w

"she caught a bug and called it a weener" made me laugh out loud and my husband looked at me funny. I get what you mean about the "too" perfect or "too" cute family blogs.

I still don't get what a blog is for. I understand it's a type of diary but why would you want to read anyone else's diary...let alone a whole bunch of 'em? It baffles me. If I want to look something up I will go to the source, not search for a blog from someone who also has an interest in the subject I am researching. Like you, I think family doings should be private. I'm blown away by some of the stuff I read about on Facebook (I find the site a total time-waste but I know others spend days at a time there or so it seems). Even here, some folk put down total nitty gritty about their daily activities and that of other family and I'm embarrassed frankly. I'm sure if the family saw what was being written about them they would cringe with humiliation. I can sympathise when someone is ill sure but when every embarrassing behaviour is written down in detail I can't handle it.

That was blogging is about. A diary online. I have seen and read so many blogs like that, honestly I enjoyed reading them. Some blogs are over in the sense that telling/writing private things should be avoided. Like you, I also hate blogs with their family portrait as banners/headers is it too much for me.

Well, we can't blame them. Maybe you should take it easy and focus on the blogspot in what you do. Take it in a positive way.

I know, those mom blogs right? I think the only way to enjoy those is to have a family, being a mom or something or being related and actually knowing the person. I mean I love to talk about the pets I've adopted but who else would be that interested? :D
