My wife wants everything big

India

Yes it is her habit, if I buy anything for her or for home, she wants a bigger one. Last night I bought one tricycle for my youngest granddaughter Subhee, but today I had to get another, bigger. When I bought the 1.5 ton air conditioner, she wanted bigger. When I bought desert coolers, ceiling fans, TV, computer, even toys, dolls her choice was always for the big ones. I don’t blame her, it is just her habit. We have been married since 1968, we are a happy couple. What about you, do you go for bigger things or just the normal, share your views. PLEASE KEEP RESPONSES CLEAN Professor

Hello professors..... I think your wife is a lucky woman because you can understand her habit and taking care your marriage and happy. I think that alright as long you financially can afford it. I like every thing in medium size because my house not to big and large electronic will look silly and to show off there also taking to much space. The only thing I wanna bigger is the heart of every member of the family so we can understand and forgive more easily.

Hi Professor, after reading the content of your topic, it calls to the remembrance of my mother in law. she had the similar habit of liking all the stuffs with big sizes, if could she would pick the biggest one lol.... After I knew her unique habbit I always tried to please her to purchase the stuffs she asked in as bigger sizes I could get for her. Of course certain things like clothes, shoes I usually purchased the ones which were a bit bigger than her size. I still remember she did blame my husband didn't buy the big milk feeding bottle for my baby son. she didn't know that there were only feeders with two different sizes were available in the market and the one my husband bought was the big one with standard size. No other choice we had to purchase the large size of rice cooker though we had only four family members at that time. It's a waste of power consumption preparing less rice in bigger cooker. She would feel satisfied and pleasant if having all the stuffs in huge sizes. I like to have things in their appropriate sizes respectively. Everything would look decent and comfortable if its size is suiting or mathching nicely with what it should be. Just like the appearance would look really ridiculious if one wearing a hat which is too big for him. Happy posting

dear professor, the house surely is big too because those things would have no place if the former is smaller.guess after all those years, you know her that much then you should buy big always. subhee is very lucky because her grandfather is very generous. my house is small but i prefer the medium sized things. have a great day. ann

Well, I'm going to keep my response clean, but that definitely isn't what my initial thought was when I read your title. For me, I actually don't desire to have the biggest and best of everything in life. I'm happy with the fact that we are able to have what we do have in life. We have a house of our own (even though it isn't in a neighborhood that everyone desires). We have two cars that we own free and clear and we also have a lot of "toys" in our collection of electronics. Both my husband and myself were brought up in families that didn't have a lot and though we are in better situations than our parents were growing up, we still carry a lot of their behaviors with us.

hi professor well since I am not petite but am round and short a small handbag would look ludicrous on me,I prefer a larger over the shoulder bag. Also I had a small monitor and it was hell on things as they would run off the sides, I have a large led monitor SAmsung and i love it, I can see things clearer and get all of a page on my screen, whats not to like.So to me size varies depending on what it is, bigger is not always better,it just depends.

Well, for me, it depends on what the item is!! I don't need to have the biggest everything . . . I need to take the price of the item and the storage space available here into consideration . . . bigger isn't necessarily best. My inlaws seem to like to buy "big" toys for my daughter - I wish they wouldn't. We have a small space and their huge toys (like stuffed animals or ride on car) just take up space to the point it is bothersome. Wow - you got married the year I was born - hee hee!!

For a woman is a great topic No joke now,I do not buy big things, just have a collection of miniatures I think your wife has a feeling of suffocation when he sees small things(like claustrophobia) you must make one thing ...love her "BIG"

that sounds like a situation that some married men i know are going through well, maybe it's because some ladies think that bigger is actually better..better savings, more space, etc..

Hello my friend. I find that when I buy something I do tend to think after a few weeks, that I could have bought something bigger. We bought a 32 inch TV set a couple of years back and it seemed huge at the time. But since we have moved house I am looking at the TV and it looks much smaller in our current living room. There is an impulse to think about buying something bigger, but I will resist the urge to do so because we have managed with much smaller TVs and in bigger rooms before. The TV we had before this one was just 26 inch. I like my computer to be more powerful because I like to edit home video movies and it takes a lot of processing power to do this. With my old computer it would take most of the day to render just one 45 minute movie, but now it's just over an hour. _Derek

Hi Professor2010. How I wish I could share some my piece about what you said of your relationship with your wife. I am not married myself but I would just like to share what I think of it based on what I read. I applaud you for having a strong marriage. Since you have been married since 1968, there is something about the two of you that made you last this long. My take is that in any relationship, it should involve the two of you and not solely just on one person. This should be a two-way street, a give and take. As for someone wanting bigger, it would totally depend on the person. Perhaps it has something to do with one's upbringing. Age has made me more mature. Age has made me want simpler things in life than I used to when I was still young. If I were in that situation, as long as the husband does not neglect his duty as a husband, I will not wish for anything more or of anything bigger as far as material things are concerned.

Hi Prof. When i buy things for home - in kitchen, i always wanted to bring in set. Large, Medium, and Small. Likewise in the living room, sala sets, miniatures, wall decors, lamp shades, urns, twigs, are all bought in sets. When I was in Europe, I bought 5 sets of suncatchers with different colors and flower designs. Appliances for home, normal size is enough. Lastly, when it comes to assets, like my handtractor, tricycle, rice thresher, corn sheller and van, bigger ones are just more productive and convenient to use. Thanks

You want the responses clean, but your topic does not call for clean responses I don't necessarily like big things, depends on what it is. If it is TV, of course, the bigger the better, but we can't always afford one. And also, bigger does not necessarily means better. When it comes to mobile phones, I like the smaller ones, though I don't really want too small, if you know what I mean. Like I said, it depends on what it is.

I always cut down on my expences.I always go for cheaper things coz my husband has no sense of savings at all.He doesnt think how will we survive tomorrow and lives on today so one has to keep count on money.I do that.
