Italy, not the giants they appear to be?

Watching Italy vs Paraguay is convincing me more that this world cup will be cruel some of the favorites and throw them out from the tournament early on. I am not saying Italy will be one but it seems they are playing badly in South Africa. First Confederations Cup and now at half time in their opener.
I hope they shape up as this is not the Italy that could challenge for the final. What are your thoughts? Going down 1-0 at half time is shocking but I feel they will bounce back and win it 2-1.

Well, Italy is still in. They are playing good but will need to score a bit more and win the games. I guess, I'm a bit partial since I'm Italian. But as you know anything can happen and it's not always the best team that wins.

What is worse for Italy is Gianlugi Buffon might be out for the next match and not sure after that. They are already without Pirlo, so it looks like bad news for the defending champions. But Italy has never won their first match as a defending Champion, so I think we need to see how Italy fares in the next couple of matches. But, you are right we might see some of the giants heading out. I am thinking of Portugal after their draw against Ivory Coast.

I was basing my comments also on how they played in the Conderations Cup in South Africa. It seems they just don't have passion on African soil. I really hope Portugal and France are out and that South Africa can make it to the next round. They are lucky to play against Uruguay when they have that suspension. Lets hope the hosts can show them true African fighting spirit.

Not the best goalkeeping effort. When you come out to punch you have to make sure you punch the ball, you miss they will score.

I think the way Italian team played was not convincing. They were 1 - 0 behind at halftime. I am afraid they are not going to do much in this tournament. However, I hope they can improve their performance in the next matches.

I do not think that it would be bad for the tournament if Italy did get knocked out at the group stages. Do play a very defensive game and i would much rather watch Brazil or Spain.

It was not an expected perfomance from Italy,but they managed to draw the match .
They should have won the match.
As you said some favourite teams will go out of the tournament in the first round.

I agree with you.Italy won the World Cup last time as well, in spite of a very mediocre performance.This time they do not seem to have the skill or the temperament to last the whole distance.On the other hand some new teams have really impressed, especially Korea and South Africa with their fighting attitude. They may not have the talent to match the top sides but are trying pretty hard.

I think Italy play badly. They don't have a good cooperation. Until now I have not seen the exciting game from the world cup and also a good team, except German. I'm still waiting the match between Portugal VS Cote d'ivoire and North Korea VS Brazil. I hope Portugal and Brazil playing all out like German.

so this match was a very balanced match between Italy and Paraguay and believe they will not go away just by luck rather lucky just that i think the rest is dust. However Italy has played pretty well last night but the minute you have given goals, Danielle de Rossi scored the second and only then started to play Italy.
