females: you wear underwired bras?

My sister wears one because she is a DD cup size. She needs the support. She has been in the airport before and the metal detector went off. She quietly explained to the security guy what the deal was. He used the hand held metal detector. waved it next to her torso, and went it went off only near where her bra was, he let her through. My explanation was longer than it took for the whole thing. She wasn't embarrassed. I once worked at a children's mental health hospital. All the visitors had to go through a metal detector. Many women ended up having to explain the underwire bra thing. One woman offered to take her bra off! She said she could just slip it off through her t-shirt, so the security guy could see it was the underwire in her bra that made the detector go off. The security officer blushed and was like, no, no, please don't do that, maam.

Hi None in my family wear the 'wired' bra, the metallic grid spuned in the cups are said to be uncomfortable. Besides this the electromagnetic waves from a metal detector can induce magnetic fields in the grids this causes the beeps.. NO! I hate, and let me stress this, I HATE under wire bras! Why? They can leave marks. They are uncomfortable. I have never liked wearing those bras.

I have worned unwire bras forever. I have been through many a metal detectors especially at different airports and I have never been beeps because of a underwire bra. I think if this was really true the females would be beeping all the time at metal detectors.

hi ritchelle, I also wear it before but I eventually stopped using my under-wired bras and stick with my regular ones. LOL. Haha! Yeah, metal detectors can detect it...LOL! But my main reason is, I am not comfortable using it.
