dear all mylotters, just wondering, what public transportation do you use when travelling in a country? I really like if the country has public Mass rapid Transit subway. First, because my country don't have subway so it's always a nice experience to try each country subway because they have different style on operationing their subway. Second, it's cheaper and (sometimes) faster than taking a cab, and much faster than the bus, although if you want to view the city, bus may be the best way to look around and enjoy the scenery. So, what transportion you take? Have any good or bad experience while travelling around a city?

I like to use an airplane when travelling. It makes me arrive so fast. I dont like to travel so I want to arrive as soon as possible. But I do want to try other ways of travelling, like on a cruise chip and a train. We dont have a train in my city so I was not really able to ride a train.

Oh if it is a long trip, I always try to make it by plane. I cannot stand travelling for too long, the agony on just sitting in a train or the bus just excruciating, no matter how great the facility the transportation has. But I also want to take cruise ship, maybe someday when I rich enough to afford lavish trip like that!

Last year I flew out to Cape Town. When I was there I went on a local train out to Simon's Town. I walked from there to Boulder's Beach where I saw the penguins. I found the blue route and the red route on an open top bus. It went to many of the interesting places. I took a local mini bus to Sea Point. In Singapore I used the mass rapid transport. When I was in Venice I used the water bus. I loved riding on the tram when I was in Budapest. I like to go by train or subway most of all. I enjoy going by water bus for it is less unusual than transport in my daily life. Later this week I will be flying off to Vancouver. There I will take a ride on the sky train. I will go by water bus over to North Vancouver from the center. I will travel on the city buses. For sightseeing a city bus is suitable. The subway is faster if I am in a hurry.

since you are the ultimate traveler maximax, I am sure you tried many many public transaportation in various spots over the world. I also tried water transportation in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, it's fefinitely a different experience, but I don't like it that much cause it was so slow hehe...Thanks for the response!

When traveling, I usually use the subway. It is more convenient and easier. I don't like taking bus or taxi. These have longer traveling time. To add, as you said, they are more expensive. I usually just research or ask around what station to go and exit.

Although I don't personally have a lot of experience with public transportation, the limited amount of it that I do have tells me that I would choose this option if I weren't to have a rental car when I was travelling. Now, if there isn't decent mass transit in an area, then I would look into hiring a private driver if the distance that I was travelling was great. When it comes to short distances I'm completely not opposed to walking or using a bike.

To be honest I rarely use public transport as where I live is in a small village and our local bus only runs every two hours. Sometimes my son will go and visit his sister and we have to drive him into the city where he catches a train .

hi oldchem, I actually asking about the transportation you use when you are on travel destination :) In my parents hometown, which is also a small village there's not even a bus to go around, usually they use small four wheeled open cars that can pick maximum 5 persons. Thanks for the response
