I really don't have the answer for it while my friend asked according to my opinion, what is the best brand name in choosing a laptop computer. I just don't really know how to determine at what criteria to be qualify the best laptop products. The only popular sale I saw is Apple computers; Sony; and Dell; also HP was mentioned in some review sites. For myself, I really won't consider about the brand name. The functionality included in the laptop, and the price of it are my primary consideration. So, what if my friend ask you the same question, what would it be?

I'm with you on that score. My sister makes brand name judgments and I have to laugh because if she buys even one product that she has trouble with, she writes off the entire brand. Every brand has good and bad. I look for the best specs I can get for my budget. :)

Well, computer is computer. The operating system is the same. So, It would make no much difference for me to either have a super great brand name or a so - so brand name computer. Whatever it is, computer is computer.

I heard so many horror stories about Hp, that I would not be doing your friend a favor by recommending one. The same with Dell, there are some that are quite good, but a lot are not. I have no idea about Sony or Gateway. I think the best thing to do is to research and find out what brands have the least trouble including the house brands. I like Macs myself because I have always had trouble with the windows ones. So what you need to do is to go on the internet and look at the review sites and not just the ones owned by that company, but the ones where actual users give their opinion, especially those who do a lot of heavy handed computer work.

Hi! My best brand name laptop to have are Apple Mac. For price wise actually on the long run of use, Apple Mac are cost less. There are lots of less expensive and free applications can have that are so very useful and lots of sense. The least specifications or model of Apple Macs for portability or laptop is the 13 inch Apple MacBook. Or look for refurbished or second hand Apple Macs at the Apple Store or other stores selling Apple Macs.

I think Apples and Window are the best. But windos lag alot when there are too much data but Apples cant store much data. I like windows the best because it is easy to use. I think apples is hard to use for me

There are severaal good laptop choices out there. In my experience, Dell tops the list. I have always had excellent performance with their products. Good luck in the search.

i think here in my country the best brands are HP AND DELL because we can easily find the engineers of them other then them we dont see any good laptop worker around us. so they both are very good and they are very heavy in prices too

It depends on what you want - Mac or PC. Macs are only Apple of course and they have the best, fastest and most stable operating system - Mac OS. But on the other hand they can't provide using so many programs and games like we do on PC's. Every brand has good and bad products. It depends ot the specifications, but I can say that one of the best brands in PC's is HP - they have cheap and also expensive notebooks. Better look what suits you and then buy - everyone uses a notebooks for different things - work, browsing, games, watching movies - or all of that like me.

Just based on my own personal experience, I would always say Samsung. They have never failed with me, in fact here in my house we all have our own samsung laptop, and all 3 of them work perfect, the oldest is 4 maybe 5 years old, and we never had a problem with it. We have just bought a samsung notebook computer for my son, for his school work, and it is brilliant. Obviously this is just a personal view, but I have also had a sony viao, and a cheap brand laptop, and both failed after a couple of years.

that is right there are a lot of brand and the best thing that your friend can do is that what the one he wants is the must, for example some use laptop for storing the documents and others will use it for the easy for creating program and other for the use of the carry and to transfer data, and there will be the better choice that you friend wants and then go for the company what he wants and there will be vary of all the size and the structure and with all the difference.. so the choice is in his hands to choose the best thing..have fun..

I think the price is not the only considerations that we must think. We must also consider the quality, because we will lose money if you buy goods with low quality even though it's cheap. I have experience using a laptop TOSHIBA brand for six years and during the six years it has never been a problem on my laptop, therefore I suggest to buy the Toshiba brand laptops.

As a Chinese, I'll choose lenovo/ThinkPad first, but I should admit that Dell, Hp, BENQ and ASUS is also prefect products. The only advice from me is don't choose brand name from South Korea, my previous laptop is LG, previous cell phone is Samsung, and they annoyed me very, very much.

Personally, I have switched over to a Mac and will NEVER go back to a PC. However, Macs are much more expensive... but worth the extra money in my opinion. If you are set on getting a PC, dont get a Dell... they are cheap because they are cheaply made (this comes from personal experience with 4 different Dell laptops). Defiantly Mac if you have the money, otherwise I'd say HP.

Hai there ! If your friend is comfortable with a Mac OS, then recommend him to buy a MacBook. If he is found of Microsoft Windows, Then the choices are, 1)HP 2)Dell these are pretty good brands. Recommend him the following minimal configuration based on his budget. Intel i3 processor,320 GB HDD, 4 GB RAM , 512 MB Graphics Card, 4 hours Battery backup, Windows 7 Professional, WiFi, Bluetooth, Webcam, stereo speakers (in-built). Make sure it has a comfortable weight. This should cost him around 35000 - 40000 INR. depending upon his ability he can increase the configuration. Regards, Ash

It definitely depends on speed and price. My experience with HP lead me to HP. I knew Dell was not the way to go because they are cheaply made. When they fix it out of the warantee it's expensive to fix because they replace more than what needs to be replaced. Dell is good for offices where they have desk top support on site. Acer has come on the scene of late but I only purchased a flat screen monitor to find out more about customer service if necessary. Good luck!

Personally I find Dells to be are really good brand I have had both the XPS (Top of Dells Brand) and the Inspiron (Cheaper) and found no problems with either ones. I have heard good things about HP and Sony. I can't really say anything good about Acer even though I have a friend who says he has had no problems with it. Oh when it comes to buying a Desktop or laptop the biggest question is what is it going to be used for. If your friend is a gamer. Then XPS or a high level laptop would be able to do the trick. If not and maybe flash games or Youtube. Then a medium to low end would be able to do it. If its movies then RAM and a Graphics card would be the important thing. Oh and if it is juts word docs and other simple stuff then a low end would do it I am talking like $399 type. The range for dells would be around $399-$1,000+ as dell own Alienware computers. I would say go to best buy and juts look at the Processor speed it should be in GHz and RAM (Random Access Memory). In this area if you want speed you want more Ram than GHZ but not two low on the GHz 1.6 GHz would be low unless it is a Core 2 Duo, i7 a dual or quad core. Then a good size hard drive 250GB+ if your friend is into downloading movies and working with large media files otherwise it is a waste of money. As far as Apple goes if your friend is a Digital Movie maker or musician then this is the brand for him/her it will cost the big money but will be completely fitting of him/her! Otherwise any other brand will work perfectly for them

I don't care with the brands. But i always compare the performance and the prize. I have sony vaio notebook using win7 OS. So far i have so satisfied with the performance. I guess the prize is commensurate with the performance. Vaio laptop always made no hard heartedly. So try to note that. Good luck and have a nice day

I always look at the specs and my budget. I find sony amusing if you are into turning videos with best quality. Though viao is very expensive, it may give you the satisfaction you need. Dell and HP on the other hand has good quality and user friendly. If you are techy, Apple Imac would be best for you. Expensive as well but it would be the best for people who are maniac with technolgy. On the other hand, I have ACER 2gb memory. It suits my budget, sleek on the bag, good quality, long battery life and I have an HD display.

Choosing a laptop is not by brand names but based on specs and performance you want to get. Now I am using a MSI laptop because #1 its very cheap having dual core cpu and 4gb max ram; #2 its lighter; #3 not too small and not too big (12") which I can bring anywhere; #4 i can play games with it; #5 hdmi ready. This laptop has all I wanted, so for me this is the best laptop. But if I have more than enough money maybe I would choose apple because I never had an apple in my entire life (lol) and toshiba and sony vaio because of their durability.
