Have you ever been to a place of worship, other than your own? When I was in college, I took a religions of the world class. I was lucky enough to be able to experience many different religions. We studied Native American religions, Buddhism, and Judaism. This was one of my all-time favorite classes, because I got to gain a better understanding of the way other people worship.

I've been to churches (protestant, catholic and Russian orthodox), Shinto temples in Japan, and the synagoge where I live. The last one I visited when I was in primary school, my school was is in close proximity to the synagoge, the protestant chathedral, the catholic church and 3 or 4 different Christian "sect" (not sure what else to call them) and the local Salvation army so we visited all of them.

I was in some temples when I visited Bangkok too, but both me and Australian friend agreed that the temples we visited there were too packed with tourists to give a proper temple feeling. It was tourist everywhere and we weren't there in the tourist season. Or maybe Bangkok don't have a tourist season, maybe it's just packed all year.

Hi hmkoct5, Yes I have been to several different places of worship but sadly all were within the Christian tradition. I would love to have the opportunity to attend services with those of other world religions. There is so much that we can learn from each other and after all we are all one although very few people realize that. I have attended services with the Christian Scientists, with whom I was very much impressed, also with the Mormons and a few other larger denominations such as the Pentecostals,Baptists, Roman Catholic, etc. Blessings.

Yes, I have. Mostly because some of my relatives and friends are different religions but they were still Christian religions so they are pretty similiar to the Catholic services that I am accustomed to. Our grandmother was Methodist and I used to go to church with here sometimes and I went to Bible school at her church as well. I also had a friend who was a Jahova's Witness and I went to a service at her Kingdom Hall with her once. Suprisingly it was not so different either.

I have studied about many religions and have been to some different places of worship in my life. I also have had some discussions with people of different religions. I believe in freedom of religion and everyone should have the freedom to choose their religion or not to choose any religion. I have considered many different religions and have chosen my path. I try to respect everyone and show love to all.

Hello hmkoct, I have never been to other church besides in my religion in my entire life, not because that am not intrigue but i guess "am not allowed" which is common to believers. i mean, if you know very well, that isn't your church then why go there, most specially if you're not into their religion. i think believers are sensitive to that. except at one time where there was this marriage and my mom's partner isn't around, she got team up with a Muslim woman, i swear it happened and it was weird

Hi Letran Knight: I'm a catholic too and I feel sure about my beleifs and I think I will never change my religion but at the same time, it's good, in an Academic point of view, to study what other people beleive in and how are their religions, simply to understand that we are not alone and that there are some other point of views. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO

bmkoct5 yes it is a really great class as we learn to understand better each others ways of worshipping our Saviour. I also enjoyed this class as I have not known of some of the various religions at all. That was a zillion years back too but it has still been of help to me here as I remember some of the religions I have studied. This helps me to be more tolerant of religions so different from my own.

There is a temple right inside my building and since childhood i used to attend the worship rituals everyday but when i was 14 years old all of a sudden i stopped going there. There is no particular reason why i stopped going but now i know the real reason why i took that step during my childhood.God is everywhere in his Creation but he is the closest to us in our own hearts. All we have to do is to look within because we are the living embodiments of God.Jesus has said that'Man is made in the image of God'.This means that all the qualities of Godliness lie within our own being and it is not neccessary for us to look anywhere else or go anywhere.Once we realize this we will always have God with us.

Hi hmkoct: When I was in my highschool we had a class where we study what other religions beleive so this help me to understand the way other people worship but I have to admit that we don't have enough time to study them so deeply and that's a shame. I think that, the more you study other cultures beleifs the more you are respectful to the things about them, that you consider strange to you. Thanks for starting this discussion. Have a nice day. i'm a pentecostal protestant who went to an all-girl catholic school. among protestants there are different kinds to and i've been to a baptist church one time too many while vacationing in california. i still like our kind because it's more interactive and not really about rituals, but that's just my preference.
