I leave in the eastern part of Laguna, and in this place we are not covered by Meralco. We have a local Electric Company here named, FLECO, that is supplying us with electricity. But this company has the worst service that I'd ever seen. Almost everyday there is a brownout here. They use to fluctuate our electric supply, specially at night. My one TV set at home was already broken due to this sudden electric supply interruptions. But still the people here have done nothing about this. Well just maybe they all accept the fact that this kind of electric service is already usual part of their lives. Well I just hope the local government here do some action regarding this matter. Unless they do something this small place in Laguna would never progress.

Has anyone gotten together and gone to your government or whoever to voice their demands on this? If they're doing this most at night you should take care of everything that needs to be done before night fall and then shut it all off at night and just use a flashlight or candle if you need to get around. They are treating you this way because they feel that you need them. Show them you know how to get by. Maybe that will scare them back into reality and they will start treating their customers more respectfully. They need to be taught a lesson.

I understand how you feel. In my area we have the geothermal plant but compared to those that are outsourcing electricity from us we are the ones suffering from routine brown outs! Aggghhh and we are charged more! I noticed this because I lived in Cebu for a long time and Cebu electric charges are not as high as ours! Here when we are suppose to pay lower because we own the geothermal plant we are the ones paying a lot. There are all sorts of charges I do not understand where they come from. We also pay for the power losses incurred by the power corporation!

Well I really think this FLECO is the worst of all the local electric company here in the Philippines. Just imagine yesterday, we had 10 brownouts, from 1am-12am. The barangay here already have their own electric generator, to power the street lights in case of brownout.

You are not alone my friend. I live in Manila, u-belt area and we are covered by MERALCO. At first, I am not affected with the high cost bill because I stay in a studio type apartment and my bill would usually in the hundred something. That was when I work full time. Then it doubled when I started having some online works and writing jobs. Not yet affected with that because it is still fair. However, my last bill had reached double from my last and previous electric bills. It was shocking because that was just one month. It may be true and have anticipated that electric bill will go high this summer, but it surpasses my expectation. Besides, there had been rotational brownouts during April and May, so I thought it might not go high like that. Worst, rotational brownouts should take 30 minutes during March and April, then it became 2 hours brownout during late April and May. More so, there had been more than 2 hours brownout too. With that, I assume I have saved. Unfortunately, I was more than surprised finding out my current bill.
I just hope it will go down this next bill. It is really a pain in the wallet.

Well they said the brownout last summer where due to the La NiƱa or dry season. Because those hydro-electric power plant don't have enough water to produce enough electricity and this causes the power interruptions in some major cities and provinces. Well in FLECO rainy season and dry season, it is always the same. There is always a brownout.

I already received the lates bill and as i compared it to the previous it differs about 500 pesos and still we have the same consumption.. just could not understand the electric bill..

Well, that is how greedy the Electric Companies are. They give you brown outs or black outs then charge you for their services still.

Hello jamed,
I thought it was National Power Corporation and Meralco are the ones incharge of electricity? i guess i was wrong and ignorant on this one, maybe i should research on this. if there using coal then it's hopeless you will get black outs for sure. that's why i never trusted noynoy when it comes to power crisis, where not supposed to have black outs in the 12st century

Well besides the problem with NPC, still this local electric company that we have in our place, have a lot of problems. Almost weekly they are announcing that they are repairing their facilities, we should be glad about this, but instead people got used to it, since this repairs that they are doing never seems to stop. Well I know defects are always there, but not to the extend that it always happen weekly and on that the same place. Well if 21st century is no blackout, our place is still in the 80's.
