Hi friends, I met a tattoo/ body piercing artist recently. She has been working under someone for sometime and now she wants to start a shop of her own. She is quite talented as i have seen some of the pics of her work. But as i was going through her album something makes me wonder about human psychology. I saw a lot of people getting tattoo or piercing in places which are always covered. I mean if u want to make a style statement or its a form of art then u want to show it rather than hide it under your clothes. Also some of the places where people get pierced are extremmely sensitive and god forbid there is every chance of getting infected. I dont understand y would u risk that? I know as this is a site where people are from all over the world they will be able to explain it more better. In my opinion i wont risk my body for the sake of making a style statement or looking cool , lol. Lets hear from you guys! Cheers, Tutul

yakuza girl - full body tattoo
The only place visible would be the face. But honnestly, i am not sure if someone would want to make it on the face. I am going to work in an office later one and there is a sort of dress code. Then if a tattoo gets visible, it would be even more difficult to work with clients. At the bank for example, I've never seen an employee with a tattoo unless it is under the clothes. You would probably know the yakuzas as well. They are japanese mafia and it's an obligation for them to get a full body tattoo. It's a big tattoo that takes years to finish and certainly not in a few hours of appointment. Those big tattoos can be easily covered with normal clothes. i am sure that there are other culture who make tattoos for different ppurposes than just being stylish.

Oh yea, don't Hawaiians tattoo themselves too. I think New Zealanders ( specific tribes) do that as well right? They tattoo their faces!! I'm sure that must be very painful!

yes it must be very painful. I think New Zealanders do tattoo on the face. i saw it on a show... lol i am not sure. Indians also like to make design on their body. And their design is really visible like on the hands and feet but it's temporary called henna. I might do henna for a try. Always wanted to have a tattoo but I want minus pain and permanent stuff on my skin.

Yea . As a kid I liked putting henna on my hand. Mehandi is the Hindi word for it. I like the Arabic design, that goes along the length of your first finger till the end of your palm. That stays on for a week. Maybe you can get a tattoo done with henna

I like tattoos and body piercings. Have two tattoos and four ear piercings on either side. I think the body is a canvas and would encourage tattooing provided it is tastefully done. I've seen people get a tattoo just cause they think it's cool to get one. It would be badly done from an artist you is new/inexperienced and charges a low sum to get it done!! I mean this is something permanent, not something that you can erase after a few days. People need to think through it before getting one done. Also I like a few small, well done tattoos on girls. Guys can go for the bigger ones. For instance this girl at my office, got a huge tattoo on her arm of an angel. Sure it looks nice now, but what about 10-15 yrs down the line. What will she think of her tattoo then? In that ways getting a tattoo in a place which you can cover at times,is a wise decision. Yea if your a punk or goth (no offense meant) , they are covered with tattoos and piercings but that how they'll stay for the rest of their lives so people accept them that way. But that's not true for everyone, especailly in the case of this girl, I would say. Also I do not like people with tongue piercings. I like the subtle way of tattoos and piercings that look beautiful long with making a style statement. Not tacky tacky tattoos or piercings that make you look gross like a walking torture device!! Use your body as a canvas as a work of art, not to gross out people and abuse your body!!

Hey Tanger, I agree with u completely. Its something permanent and that's what bothers me even more. I mean what u like today u may not like in the future and thus u need to be very sure before u get one. I see a small and nice tat in your pro pic and looks like a snake :) Well personally i never look for tattoo or piercing on my body but if some one has one i can appreciate. Also you have hit the head of the nail by saying u should not look like a walking torture device. Actually the album which my friend has some of such examples where they have made tats and pierced everywhere they can. That's not cool at all in my opinion. Cheers, Tutul

Hey, I had a good look of yr tat and I'm sorry yes its not a snake, lol. Though I love reptiles :) They r wonderful creatures. Anyway it look good & u don't have to modify it. Its more clear and visible when we actually go to yr profile and see it. Thats the differance. Yes i also like small and simple tats but u wrote u have two. Where is the other one and what it is actually? U can upload a pic of that as well Cheers, Tutul

well, i wouldn't say that body piercing/tattoo are absolute foolishness because it is really very subjective... it really depends on individuals... just like a painting/piece of art... i can never understand why somebody would be willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions for a piece of painting/art... i will never willing to spend that much even though i have the money... but people who appreciate painting/art will be willing to spend that much money because they love it... it is the same with body piercing/tattoo... for some people (like me) who don't like it, we might see it as an absolute foolishness... but for other people who love it, it is a beauty and art... take care and have a nice day...

Hi, I agree with you 100 %. I asked the same question to my friend the tattoo artist and she said that she has met many weird person who comes to their shop. So to read their mind on what actually they are looking for is a difficult task. But u have said it right that it depends on what u like and what u don't. I also appreciate the art but on others body. I don;t like it on my own. Cheers, Tutul

Well I personally have my tattoo on my back and unless I am wearing a belly shirt or a two piece bathing suit, you can't see it. I know that the reason that I got mine in that area is because the place I was working at the time, didn't allow it's employees to have piercings or body art in areas that were visible to customers. I also know a lot of people that have done the same because of work. I think that just because it is hidden doesn't mean that it is a waste. I know that my tattoo is there and that is all that I care about. I personally think that it is all a matter of personal choice.

Hi, That's cool to know . When u r happy and satisfied then nothing matching. I had other thoughts abt tats and piercings. I wont like people in my office showing plenty of tats and piercings but slowly things are changing. People are more getting accustomed to it. Cheers, Tutul

Hi, friend. Neither body art nor body piercing art is not wrong in the modern society. The difference is what view you hold. Personally, I am not against body art because after all it is one type of the arts.Since it exsists in society,it is reasonable. Although sometimes body art or body piercing art seem to be disgusted or uncomfortable to someone,at present most of youth can accept it and it is becoming more and more popular among them. Of course tattooes or body piercing were put on sensitive areas on the body. But if you dislike it, you don;t get it.Otherwise you can. That is good. For most young people who like tattoo or body piercing all love showing their own personalities as well as being cool for themselves. That is their tastes. But for me, I won't risk doing that, though I am not against it. I just like appreciating not doing that. That is my views. tks!

I have a few tattoos, and they are all covered when I wear "normal" clothing. When I decided that I wanted "a" tattoo I also decided to get it in a place where it would be covered while I was at work. Many people look down on people who have body art, and I didn't want to "brand" myself as some sort of degenerate to the general public that I would be interacting with on a daily basis. Why then, would I get a tattoo at all? I think I wanted some sort of "dirty little secret" some sort of rebellion against the norm. (Of course nowadays EVERYONE has tattoos!). I know that on warm summer days, when I wear a tank top and my tattoos are visible it gives me a mental boost. Makes me feel tough, beautiful and sexy. In regards to the piercings in "delicate areas"... NO WAY. I have an ear piercing or two more than the normal person... but I could never pierce a more sensitive part of my body! That wouldn't make me feel sexy... it would probably make me walk funny! OUCH!

Hey, Tattoos give u mental boost. That's something new i learned. I had this concept that its made for showing attitude or u r a very cool person. Something of that sort. In his discussion I also got to know that some people get tattoo to get their scars or birth marks covered which is a very modern and smart idea i would say. I agree with u on piercing thing. The album which i was going through had some pics where people had piercings in some unmentionable areas. Thats insane in my opinion and there is every chance of getting infected. Every human is different and so is there thinking, i can only say that. Thanks for yr valuable input. Cheers, Tutul

I think body arts or tattoo or piercing is really a foolish decision. That's only my point of view and I don't meant to insult anybody or offense anybody with my remark...and if you were offended by it please forgive me. I just can really bear to have those in my body because my body is not a canvass or something. There were times that I will see some women had tattoo and body piercing and I kind of having that whats is she thinking attitude. Especially the piercing in the tongue or nose which I really find ridiculous. Just a waste of time.

Hi reckon, Nothing wrong as the saying goes " different strokes for different folks" lol. There are many things in you and me which are disliked by others and vice versa. I wont say its ridiculous or something as its quite a talent and they look beautiful on many. Its a form of art and i would appreciate it. Cheers, Tutul

Tatoos or body piercing , is not only for style but it also gives a boost to ones attitude. It might be hidden under some clothes but your inner self feels good about having a design that one believes in or want to resemble to. There are many people who do expose it also ratio is quite high to the people who don't like to show it.. i love body art its beautiful and very expressive..

I'm into body piercing, and have many friends into body mods, so I can understand pretty well why some people decide to get their bodies modified. You don't get pierced or tattooed to show off, but because you want your body to become like that. Most of us do it for ourselves, to like our bodies even more, so that's why many people get tattoos or piercings in places that usually they don't show. Unfortunately many people don't understand that concept and will do it just because of being fashionable, and go to places without hygiene at all and get infections. I wish people would take more care before getting into body mods, as it's something that will turn into part of your body

Hey mad, Hmm.. look i don't have a fair idea of the places where tats and piercings are done. But whatever i have seen it's a place where a lot of people go to look cool. I started the discussion to get the opinion of people from worldwide and the response like yrs make it so very interesting. I think its cool if u feel good that u got a tat and thats the most important thing. Cheers, Tutul

I wouldn't get a tattoo only because I don't think I'd be able to stand the pain of it all. But there are a lot of people I know who've gotten tattoos and some did choose to get them in pretty obsure places, but I think they mostly did it for themselves and not because they wanted to make some kind of statement. I do know some people who got it in a pretty visible place, though, and they said they only got one because a lot of people they knew had one! I personally don't think they make a statement as such, but to each their own right? :)
