Do you cook during the week or on the weekends

Okay, recently, I have noticed that since my husband and I work really long hours, it is more difficult to actually plan out meals during the week because of the late hours in which we come home. So, on the weekends, we actually try and plan out meals. Do you cook during the week? Or do you typically have small light meals like sandwiches and such? Do you cook on the weekends? Or not at all?

I would love not to cook at all! I cook very simple meals during the week and on weekends we make do with my husband’s barbeques or less often take away food. I don’t enjoy cooking and on the week nights my daughter has dancing we just have TV dinners. I don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen unlike my mother who starts cooking dinner every day at 2 p.m.!

Sorry to hear that you don't enjoy cooking. I know how that can be. There are times, when it seems like such a chore to do and impossible to get anyone else in the house to help out.

when the schedule's really toxic, i try not to cook much because there seems to be more important things to take care of. however, over the weekends i try to make healthier stuff to make up for all the junk i tend to eat when i'm too lazy to whip something up in the kitchen.

Wow, you know how I feel, lately, it seems I am always on the go and never can stop, when the cooking needs to be done, I'm either still at work, or to tired to even try. We are the same way, try to avoid the junk and eat healthier.

I must admit, the past couple of days, we have slacked a bit and ordered pizza. First time in quite a while, then while at the grocery, I picked up ready made fried chicken. But, during this time of year, we typically go for sandwiches and salads, it is just to hot to cook inside. We do utilize our grill as much as we can, I only wish we had more time to use it more often.

I cook Sunday-Friday and we at out on Saturday nights. It is sometimes hard to plan meals, but I manage. I usually cook easy things like Tacos, Spaghetti, and I have a recipe for ham and cheese crescent rolls. I also make hotdogs. On Sunday I cook larger meals. On really hot days I make salads and then when it cools off I cook simple meals. I have some great recipes for easy meals. PM me and I will send you some recipes.

That is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. Do you do something else besides going out for dinner, movie or something?

That is great. It is nice to know that so many people do enjoy cooking. I am so happy to see this. I actually had wondered and thought that more people actually spent time and money away from their homes.

Yes, that would be nice. lol. But, I'm not counting any chickens. Now that our children are all teenagers, they are now showing an interest in cooking, which makes it nice. I only hope that they will pick up the slack so to speak and start to cook during the week when they are home.

Maybe one of these days you will be able to do the same. There was a time, when my 5 children were little and we also worked there was no time for anything. Therefore, I understand what you are saying. Hang in there it will get better. Thanks for responding back to me. Take care Snow

Hi Chulce, I work full time from Monday to Friday, so I only get to cook during weekends. Hence for my family, there is always something to look forward too when weekend approaches, and I take this opportunity to experiment on new dishes. This also becomes the family's bonding moment.

While it sometimes becomes a quandry of sorts, generally, I cook meals during the week and go out one or two times during a weekend. If I'm working, all bets are off. I'll do smaller, quicker, easier meals on work days (which could be on a weekend) and larger, more elaborate meals on days off, cause there's time and it's fun. Breakfast is also more elaborate on days off.

You have the right idea. Well, hopefully, now, my kids will help out more often when it comes to the cooking. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Do you like cooking by yourself? Yes, I do. I work from Monday to Friday and live in my work unit by myself. So I almost cook everyday in my single dorm which lies on campus. In effect,I like cooking at most of time because cooking is very interesting sometimes. What's more,I can practice my cooking skills and may show off my skills in the presence of my friends or classmates. That's fun. In addition,at weekends I often cook for the whole family because my wife is always busy in doing her housework or keeping our son company. But I feel good and happy all the time. What I do is for my family. Certainly, sometimes we go and eat out because my wife and I are all busy and have no time to cook. But we don't have sandwiches or fastfood because we dislike that. That's all.

Glad to hear that you like to cook, that is great. Wow, it amazes me the changes that have occurred over the years with campus life, I can remember the dorm that I lived in, we didn't have a kitchen available, actually brought in a little 2 burner hot plate, which we had to keep hidden. It is great to hear that you get to cook for the whole family when you are home, that is always nice and you get a chance to build special memories. Well done!

I cook every day - unless one of the older kids offer to cook. We cook meals from scratch too, things like cottage pie, potato pie, vegetable curry, pasta or rice dishes, stir fry, soups, etc.

Dear Chulce, Everyday I cook but a simple meal only. On weekends I will cook more dishes and meal for 2 person. This is the time I will cook new recipe for us. Quite interesting because from there I will get an idea for our menu. It's cheaper to cook & eat in a home compare to eating outside. Besides that,we can plan what to eat for a balance diet daily. Only for special occasion, we will go eating outside. Regards, fadyhalim7050

That's a good idea, cooking simple meals. Especially those that you can have made in about 30 minutes. Of course then there is the clean up.

I cook every day. Since I am always at home. So I can cook every day. Sometimes I do not cook when I'm lazy or because I was busy with other work. I sometimes make a snack if I'm not lazy.

I think the worst part about cooking is all the clean up. I clean as I go, but, when it comes to the aftermath, it is hard getting the family to chip in and help. Good example, last night one of my kids cooked and well, there are dishes piled everywhere. Gotta love coming home at 10pm to messes like that. Looks like that will be my morning project.

I cook off and on, no matter whether it's during the week or not. When I cook, I try to cook enough to last a few meals, but sometimes I'll just have sandwiches or open a can of soup or something. Today I had salami and cheese on a tortilla. It wasn't the best, but it filled my tummy! :) Tomorrow I have to plan a good meal and don't have a clue what to cook yet.

That's nice. We are attempting to get back to cooking in some aspect, but with the heat that has been going on around here. It has been horrible. So we have chosen to do salads and such.

I usually plan my meals ahead of time. I also am able to get two or three meals out of one dinner. So that leaves me to only have to heat up food which is so much easier especially during the summer months. What I use to do when I worked was on Sunday make a few meals and freeze them so all I had to do was defrost and heat up. Every night when I got home I didn't have to prepare and cook all I had to do was heat up and set the table. So much less stress after a long day at the office.

When my kids were little, I used to plan out our meals. I would also make extra of each meal to create tv dinners that we could use during the sports seasons. It really helped when we were running crazy, we could grab the items toss them in the microwave and still get a decent dinner for the kids.

I cook everyday, since our maid left, I am the one left to cook meals. I dont plan out the meals, I just cook what is in the refrigerator and just experiment. AS long as it can be eaten, its okay.

I can see how that would simplify things. But, then again, how many do you have to prepare for? If it is only you and a spouse ordering out isn't as expensive as it is for 5. And around here, the only ones that deliver food are pizza, which grows old quick. Gotta have some variety.
