Are There TOO Many Colors

United States

I had a lot of left-over yarn and it was stored in two containers taking up space so I decided to knit me a winter blanket. I didn't plan the colors and WOW it is ended up to be more than lovely. Colors that I thought would not go together are working. I think that I am going to keep this blanket for me because I am always giving away the items I knit. How you ever just started to knit without planning it and it came out breathtaking? Take care Snow

Yes I crochet and sell most of what I make. It is surprising to find that colors you don't think looks good together look great. I have made multi color purses and as I go around and around I forms it's own pattern and looks good. I love left over yarn. If it's long enough you can make some great stuff with it.

hi snow oh yes I once made a granny quilt with a lot of colors and my mom said that will look awful, but after I had it all done, each granny square crocheted and stitched them all together she had to admit it reqally was so so pretty. It was not knitted as I did not know how to knit but I did crochet really well. now that is in storage. lol

Hatley,That is awesome About five years ago, I tought myself how to crochet and my first project was a granny square quilt and it came out awful. I will try it again one of the days, and maybe this time it will come out better. I have been knitting since I was 12 and I love it. Thanks for stopping by and I enjoyed reading your reply. Take care

i dont knit but my wife wants to learn how to do it. she is in crafts too but more on cross stitch. she has a lot of colored threads and a lot of patters that she puts inside a big traveling bag , dont forget the clothes that goes with it. since she stopped working when she gave birth this is what she does on her free time and like you she gives it away to friends. splash of colors are really nice to look at. good job i can say.

No, I have never knitted anything in my entire life. But I sure would love to learn how to. I know that your blanket turned out to be very beautiful and creative. My mom was great at crocheting. I could never understand how she could crochete like she could. She made some beautiful blankets and pillows.

Cream97, I have been knitting since I was 12. Furthermore, about 5 years ago, I taught myself how to crochet. I made a granny quilt, and it was awful. I have been thinking about givving it a try, again. Maybe, you could get a book on knitting or crocheting. You could also go too youtub and see what they have in knitting instructions, and You might surprise yourself. Just a suggestion. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful evening Snow

Isn't it wonderful when that happens. I will also do that with my crazy quilt blocks and they usually turn out way better if i just do them than if i try to match things up.

Sallyj that is simply wonderful that you can do quilts. That is something I have always wanted to do. However, I don't like to admit this, but (here it goes) I don't know how to use a sewing machine or sew by hand. Thanks for stopping by and I know your quilts are simply breathtaking Take care Snow

whatever is made with left overs, it turns out to be unique thing. Many colors of yarns when knitted together became a beautiful blanket, if many colors of humans come together, this earth will become beautiful planet.

Sounds like a great idea and nice it came out so nicely! I am in the process now of doing that with fabric and making a scrappy quilt out of it...it remains to be seen if it works out like they show on tv shows! I just did on that didn't work out..got it all cut and very carefully and all...and of course... nothing matched! So much for piece quilting for me!

I'm not a knitter but have crocheted some things I wasn't sure if they came out and they were just fine. And with scraps it doesn't always have to be perfectly organized or anything.

Unique to say the least. I have to say I feel you are one trendy and unique lady; wink... I use to knit in my early twenties and it was so much fun. I had very little money so I would due with what I had or what was on sale. I was so proud of what I created and the uniqueness of the items were so eye catching. I use to knit things like; baby girl dresses, doilies, toilet seat and tank covers. Lots of kitchen product covers. Boy those were fun days. I just realized I missed that. Thanks for reminiscing...

Well as far as I am concerned I have knit for a school project when I was a student. Didn't turn out the way I planned for my first try. The next time I was tasked to knit I did'nt care much about it and I just knit away as if it was nothing, then I realized I was done and what I made was awesome. I guess I had a similar experience.

i do think that there are an aweful lot of colors in the world but i do not think that it is a bad thing or that there are too many colors i think colors are what gives the world life i also have alot of left over yarn from other knitting and crafting projects but mine is stored in one big basket sitting in my floor i have not made anything with it yet but that is just because i have been so side tracked lately with other things i think some of the pretties things are the things that are not planned
