I know there can be many variables to Tuna Mac'n Cheese... sometimes I add peas or a cup of shredded cheese. What other ingredients do you like to add to your Tuna Mac?

I haven't had that for ages, it's so yummy!! I always added peas and sometimes mixed vegetables. Asparagus is good, too, when it's on sale. Cheese, of course, I can never get enough cheese!

I bet my hubby would like it w/ Asparagus though I'm not much of a fan of it myself. See now I reminded you of an old favorite that's inexpensive to make. And walgreens has tuna on sale this week too!

absolutly add more cheese! YUM! My picky eater won't eat peas either so I make her bowl before I add the peas... I just have to be thankful she eats.

We do not do mac or other pasta, Hubby does not like it, it kind of makes him sick. I have used mixed frozen carrots and peas, extra cheese of various sorts, some Ranch Dressing, some chopped onions or bacon bits to name a few things.

Ranch dressing is a hit in our house with most foods so I imagine a dash of that would help. Bacon is devine w/ Mac'n Cheese! But I dunno bout Tuna Mac' N Cheese. Bummer hubby doesn't like pasta. I do hope that if you like it that you'd make yourself some even if he won't eat it.

I have never made Tuna Mac and Cheese before. My kids love mac and cheese, but until recently my son would not eat tuna. I made tuna noodle casserole once and he would not touch it. I might try that again sometime since he will eat tuna now.

Isn't it funny how picky people and kids can be when it comes to trying new thing? Like I'm trying to get them to try new veggies and half the time they spit stuff out. Though to my surprise my oldest tried some snow pea pods after asking what I was munching on.

oh I make a tuna mac andcheese into tuna casserole by adding peas cheese, a ton, then crumble lays potato chips in a layer over the top as a topping with grated sharp cheddar. often I make it with a can of mushroom soup or just some chopped mushrooms instaed.

I'm sure diced mushrooms would be a hit in my house! My kids including the dh love about anything with mushrooms in it. Too bad most mushrooms are imported unless they are fresh. *sigh*

Lobster?!?! I would of never thought of that one. But you know I've seen them make something at the local chinese buffet that's immatation crab w/ cheese and something else that's ok. True Mac'n Cheese is not elegant, but reasonable and kids will eat it!

Hi, 3SnuggleBunnies. I would like to add diced celery bits. I think that this would taste really good. Since the macaroni is cooked, I will make sure that the celery is cooked. I don't think that I have had this dish before. But, I have tasted, a tuna casserole before.

That wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'd probably leave it raw or slightly cooked. Really it's not too far off from tuna salad or tuna casserole.

What is tuna mac and cheese? Is it actual macaroni and cheese with tuna in it? Sounds rather gross. I occasionally make tuna noodle casserole using noodles, cream of mushroom soup, and tuna. I add peas like my mom did. She also would crumble potato chips over the top before baking, to give the top a nice crunch. I suppose that would work for your tuna mac n cheese as well.

Yep it's basically the same thing except you just add tuna to your plain mac'n cheese plus whatever else and you just make it in a pot as you normally would. My mom never made tuna casserole, she never made casseroles period.

broccoli - Broccoli is a member of the cabbage family and high in vitamins C, K, A as well as being a dietary fiber.
I like to add green vegetables. Sometimes I add broccoli or Italian cut green beans. Also when using a cream soup add a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce for added zing. When using the green beans top with bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese toasted in butter, yummy!

That sounds good. Though I'd have to make it w/o the greenbeans for the family cause the kids are especially picky when it comes to what veggies they'll eat or not eat.

Mixed vegetables are always good in it. And you simply can't eat this dish without some green onions in my opinion. I've never been a fan of Mac 'n Cheese, but when I experiement with making a complete meal out of it, I've come up with some things that I wouldn't mind to eat again in the future. Imitation crab meat is really good with mac n' cheese with veggies added to it. Some shredded cheese melted on top really makes the dish in my opinion.

I'm not a big fan of tuna mac but the few times I have had it was with peas and carrots. I tried making it for my kids before but they didn't like it either.

Mac and cheese can be boring. So forget cholesterol and add a carton of real heavy cream and then to appease your conscience over this high level of fat - then add some plain yoghurt - this makes you feel virtuous and a good mother. Make it alL into a heavy CREAM CHEESY SAUSE AND THEN FLING IN A TIN OF PEAS OR CORN. YOU CAN THEN FOOL YOURSELF INTO THNKING THAT IT IS VERY NUTRITIOUS. ENJOY
