A student who needs an advice...

I am in my last year of my college life, but when I am almost there at the peak suddenly a lot problems came in. My father doesn't have a job, and I don't want to ask money from my aunt because she has her own family to assist on. My mother's salary goes to paying the debts of the people she owes. So basically, we don't have much. I want to work, but most of the jobs fitted for me are call center jobs. I want to apply but the rule there is that at least I am not currently enrolled. I am still in the looking for at least a night shift account jobs so that I could just work at night. Some lied to get into that kind of job, but I am not the type of person who lies in interviews, for me it is like lying to the company itself. I don't want to give up my education just because we don't have enough money to pay the tuition fee. I still have 2 siblings who are still currently in high school. As much as possible, I want to work and pay my own tuition fee. I rather be working student than stop schooling. Do you got any advice? I am almost at my limit point where I don't know what to do anymore. If you can know anyone who offers jobs for students like me, I would like to know too...

Well, your problem is a hard one. You could always do part time stuff. There are numerous things you can work for. Just look for that job, and never give up. Finishing your educations is always a top priority.

well, try to apply for student assistant in your school, atleast it will provide some financial assistance to you. it may not be much but, it will help. Do alot of saving up. For example, take food along with you in going to school rather than buy.Just don't give up on looking for a job that can sooth your schedule.have a buy and sell biz or you can also use your talent in having a money. Like for my sister, she's good in her art skills and photography, that she earns from it. Again it may be not much, but it will help you along the way, in filling up your needs

Hi,friend.I am sorry to hear that you are at trouble just now. As a college student,I can see what your desire for knowledge is and what your aim is. But at present you come across the difficulty that you are seriously short of money for your tuition fee. This is a seirous and important problem which you are trying your best do solve. You don't want to burden your parents. From this point, you are mature and want to be independent in life. YOU ARE SO GREAT! But faced with this hard problem, you should think it over and find some solutions to resolve it. Personally, first, you can consult your teachers or classmates and see if they can give some good advice to help you out. Second, you can look for a part time job which you could do or finish after class. Please don't occupy your study time. After all your study is of great importance for you. Doing part-time job can help you to earn some extra money. Third,if you don't want to go out of the campus, you can be a working student. That is very good. When I studied in university, I was a working student. That is,at every weekend,I help the school to play the vcd for students. After that, I cleaned the room and lock it. At the end of every month, I could get some extra money to make up for my expense in the school. That was of great heip to my life. Fourth, you can apply the student's loan. That is what I did in university. After graduation, I paid it off. By loan, you should burben the debt. But it can relieve your finance stress. Meanwhile, this will force you to work much harder after graduation to earn money to pay back. Last but not least, you work hard to get high grades in subjects to obtain the scholarship to aid yourself in tuition fee. Of course, it is very rough because not only you but also many other students all want it. Do you know? Ok, the suggestions above will be helpful and useful to you,I think. Good luck to you!! I do hope you will be out of the trouble soon!

well, im also a merried man and i have a 3 year old daughter and still jobless at the time. I have worked for a call center and left the job that lasted only for 1 month because the schedule was way to complicated. now, through loans and with the help of my friends, i successfully opened a general merchandising business. what i mean here is its never to late for you my friend, a lot of opportunity is out there. as for you, you are still young and there's a lot of jobs waiting for you. don't rush things, even if it means for you to stop you studies for a while, then start again when you got enough cash to begin with again. Determination is the key, my friend! dont loose hope.

You are very brave! You may find a part-time job from which you can earn some money. It was referred in your article that you are not the type of person who lies in interviews. I agree with you. To be an honest person is very important. I wish that you have the ability to take care of your siblings and you will have a good future throught your effort.

First thing you should do perhaps is ask your parent for their opinion of course. I think your idea is really good as well. Trying to be a working student may be one of the hardest thing to do right now to balance your life as a student and a worker as well. But that is really a very noble act on your side to unburden your parents from your last year in schooling. As for me stopping is the last resort for you right now but you can consider this as an opportunity to get the funds you need to finish your last year. It would be a hard pill to swallow but is an option for you. What I see in this kind of problem is that many find it lazy to finish their courses when they earned a lot in these call centers and stay there for good since I know their salaries are really good.

Hold on my friend.. When all seems lost, something will come through. I would like to tell you that you shouldn't give up your education. Even if you don't get a job, try to finish up with your studies as soon as possible so that you can get a job as soon as you are done. If you do not have enough offers with your right now, concentrate on studies. I know a job might be appealing to pay for self reliance, but I think that you should concentrate more on your studies and education rather than finding a job. Just make sure that you have enough to pay for your tution fees and other necessities of the schooling life and are done with it as soon as possible. Since you are saying that you are int he final year, it shouldn't be so hard cos one year will pass by without any notice and before you know you will be done with your education and then you can get that job or a better job since you have completed with your studies. bourne

You can ask one of your teachers if there is program available at school that helps students like you. Schools have scholarship programs or paid-to-work opportunities for less fortunate but deserving students. You can also try working as a tutor or a service crew in fast food chains. Fast food chains welcomes part time workers like students. Just don't loose hope. There is always a way if you look hard enough.

Try talking to you guidance counselor. Tell her your problem and she'll help you apply for scholarships in school. Schools have scholarships for students who can't afford to pay the full tuition. If from what I understand of your situation, it is sort of similar. These scholarships will make you a working student. You'll work for the school, usually at the library, or do some clerical jobs. You won't be paid for your work, what you'll get is a tuition fee slash (though some schools do pay their scholars). What's great about working in school is that the would assign you jobs that wouldn't interfere with your classes. You have to maintain an average grade per semester too. Just talk to your guidance counselor. You could also go directly to your Student Affairs office but I think talking to your guidance counselor would be easier God Bless

Hello Taki_takaishi! Your name sounds like you are a Japanese. Well, if you can't make it to school this year, don't be disappointed. Never give up. Why don't you just accept the fact that you can't afford to attend school this year. So be it. If I were you, I'd start looking for a temporary job instead. I heard that compared with other jobs being offered to young articulate people nowadays, call centers offer the highest compensation to their employees. Skip a year and accept the call center's deal. Once you're there, save whatever amount you can to pay for your tuition fees when you come back to school next year. Although I know your disappointment, please also remember that the world will not end just because your parents cannot afford to send you to school at the moment. You are still very young and I believe there is still so much of life ahead- waiting for you just around the corner. Sometimes things happen for a reason. REMEMBER?

That sounds like an issue that the guidance office might be able to help out in. When I was a high school student, we always had this notion that students who would go to the guidance office were those who did something very bad and that going there would also require the student to bring a guardian if not one of the parents. Anyway, by the time I got into our University, my notion about the guidance office really changed since in that place, student can just stay there, use the computer or ask for information or as the office would have its name, guidance. Perhaps you can go to your school's guidance office and the school might provide some program that you can take advantage of. I could recall that some students would be working in the library or just doing clerical work. I guess they would have certain privileges like discounts in tuitions or versatility of schedules. Just consider that option, I suppose..

Have you considered doing online freelance jobs (ie, writing, or programming if you have a technical background)? There are a lot of discussions on the topic here on MyLot. Writing jobs go for $1 to $15 per 500 words at bidding sites like Odesk and Freelancer, you can also try looking at Craigslist. Programming jobs (setting up websites, databases, etc) pay more. What are your skills exactly and what can you do? You can devote 3 to 5 hours per day doing these things, and still stick to your schoolwork. Of course you will need a steady internet connection (or at least be able to / afford going to the internet shop at least 3 hours a day). I've only explored doing online freelance writing jobs just this year. One of my regrets was that I didn't know about this when I was still a student, at a time when an extra $200 a month could really go a long way. I've written about something on the subject in more detail in my personal blog, you can read about it here: www.everyday-experiments.blogspot.com/2010/05/life-experiments-freelance-writing-on.html. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles. In the United States, kids that can't afford to pay out of pocket for college get help through financial aid, do you know if your country offers anything like that? It consists of filling out information and then the service finds grants and government money and gives it to you to help pay for college. I use financial aid to help pay for my college. I also have student loans where I'm given money, but after college I will have to pay it back. But I'd rather pay loans than not have a college education. There should be people that work at your school who know about financial aid or things you can do to get money. Another way is scholarships. But yeah, find someone to talk to at your school and they should be able to point you in the right direction of how to pay for your college education. Good luck!
