Watching old movies

A few days ago I went to library and I borrowed a book about the history of Danish films. The oldest films that were mentioned in the book were more than 100 years old and a lot of things have changed since that time. When I was reading the book I started thinking about the films that I have watched. Most of them have been relatively new, but I do watch some of the old black and white movies every once in a while. I find it interesting to watch the old movies, because the language is different from today and many other things are also different. The oldest movie I have watched was from the 30's. Do you ever watch old movies? From what decade? Or do you prefer to stick to new movies?

In a strange way I prefer watching older movies because they always seemed to have stronger storylines than today's movies. For me my favourite decade for movies is the 80s, but then I enjoy movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s just as much and there is nothing like a feel good Doris Day rom com from the 60s to perk up a dull day. I would say the earliest movie I've seen would be Charlie Chaplins "The Kid" which if memory serves me right was made back in 1921, but having watched many of Chaplins movies as a child there's a good chance I have seen some of his movies from before that.

I like watching new movies more than old movies. Sure there are just a few classics i would love to watch but i still prefer the new ones. I like the action, thriller and great action of new movies but as you know what they say old is gold.
