What's the Big Deal with Twilight?

Is anyone here not a Twilight fan? I had never seen the two previous Twilight movie before I went and saw Eclipse. I have to first start off by saying that I did not go because I wanted to. I had to take my brother to see it. I did not pay for the ticket and the only reason I agreed to go was for the popcorn (it was good). After seeing Eclipse I have to say that I do not understand what the big deal about Twilight is. It's just vampires and werewolves running around all over the place killing people. Is it too much to ask that Jacob put on a shirt? I mean come on. He's not even that good looking (sorry). Just wanted to know if anybody dislikes Twilight as much as I do.

I read the twilight books to ensure they were suitable for my 11 year old daughter - now they are my books and not hers. I forgive anyone who watches the films and thinks they do not live up to the hype. To truely get it you need to have read the books and fallen in love with the characters. I don't mean to sound pathetic I don't truely mean fall in love, it is just that I find when reading a book you gain insight into the minds of the characters if they are well written and you begin to relate to them. Anyway I'll stop boring you and say my advice is instead of picking up the films half way through (and I've got to admit Rob Pat appears better looking because you think of him as Edward and in the book he is gorgeous) get the first twilight book and read it with an open mind.

I don't dislike it but I'm not so sucked into the story that I've lost touch with reality. The movies are alright. I think Eclipse is the better one so far. I couldn't get into the books. I did really like The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner which is told from the point of view of one of the new born vampires in Eclipse. I'm not saying it will make you like that series any better but you might want to actually pay attention because the story is not just about werewolves and vampires killing people. You should start from the beginning so you have a better understanding of whats going on.

Before I watched the movie, I was introduced to this book by one of my friends who was fascinated with it. At first, I thought she might be a little exaggerated, but as soon as I started reading it, I became obsessed with it. I kept imagining what would happen and what would be the results. My curiosity urged to read on. Among the four series, twilight was my favorite. I love to read about the love between Bella and Edward. It's not just a movie about vampires and werewolves, it's a romantic love story that needs people to enjoy.

I read the books, and I liked them...but I have not seen Eclipse yet. I'm not much of a fun of the Twilight saga movies but I do not hate them either. Maybe the reason why there's so much talk about it are the actors in it not to mention the book behind it.

Well, you can say that as you have not watched the first two movies. It's like reading a book by starting at the middle of it, so how can you understand the story? Twilight is a series so I suggest that you watch the first two movies and then get back here and tell me you still dislike it. :-P

Alright, I think that you are just jealous of all of the Twilight fans out there. I don't think that you have ever been loved and frankly, I could never love someone who hates Twilight as much as you. Clearly your mother never loved you, it's okay to be jealous about the Twilight Saga, because we have something worth loving. lol Also, I wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE TWILIGHT. It just makes me all tingly inside when I even think about it. And that Jacob guy! Woah, he is pretty beasting it without that shirt. I think I need to get into better shape myself, this movie inspired me to start working out. And Bella, little Bella, she is funny, and quite provocative. She is the best part about Twilight, her and Edward make the bestest couple I have ever seen in my entire LIFE!!!! Clearly they are made for one another. I LOVE TWILIGHT I LOVE TWILIGHT I LOVE TWILIGHT I LOVE TWILIGHT I LOVE TWILIGHT I LOVE TWILIGHT DON'T BE A HATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TEAM EDWARD TEAM JACOB TEAM BELLA!!!!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Personally, I love Twilight because I love the story. I love the books, and I really like the movies. But I think it's absurd that you need to ask if anyone dislikes Twilight. All I need to do is walk into a room with a Twilight T-shirt and I get pelted by rotten tomatoes. Twilight has LOADS of haters. Every popular series does. If everyone loved the same things, there wouldn't be so many books in Barns and Noble. To the fans it's not just "vampires and werewolves running around all over the place killing people". It's a love story. But if vampires and werewolves running around killing each other is all you see then that's all you're going to get.

I think we're on the same page here. I am not a twilight fan. I don't know why people like it. I wonder if the story gained popularity because the actors in its movies are good looking. As for the plot, I find it really very plain and simple. It's just a generic story for me. Although the twist there is that a human is not in love with another being of her kind but a vampire.

I guess you didn't notice, but the books were popular before the movies even came out. Plus most of the actors weren't even famous before they made these movies.

Before you go and be a hater, you need to watch the first two movies to get the third one, and maybe pick up a book every now and then. First of all it's not just about vampires and werewolfs fighting each other and killing people. It's about love, which obviously you don't know about. It's about a boring girl who needs love, and so she finds it from a boy who just so happens to be a vampire. Then he breaks her heart, and so she falls in love with a boy who just so happens to be a werewolf, even though she can't get over her true love, Edward. I hope this gives you a little insight, if you want to know the rest of the story I suggest you start by watching Twilight and then New Moon.

I am a complete 'late starter' I have only just watched the first film and loved it, I am a reader so having the books was an itch that needed to be scratched. I have the first 2 and have yet to read them as I already have 2 books on the go, one beside my bed and one downstairs (a whole new topic for discussion lol) I have watched Twilight a number of times now and love it more. Am rather unsure as to watch the second one yet though, or read the books first, I haven't made my mind up. I will definately be getting them on bluray, but for now I have to make to with having Twilight recorded to my Sky box.

You should really read the books first, and then watch the movies. It makes watching them ten times better, because you get a good visual of the book in your head, on parts that the movie missed.

Maybe your just not interested or open for a love story like this. But if you actually read tha books, or watched tha movies from the start (and payed attention) then maybe you would understand where everyone who loves twilight is coming from. Its just a love story, stephanie meyers just approached tha story differently then every other love story. she just used fiction characters instead of making the story seem so much like reality. Everyone can still relate to the feelings of the characters and to tha story itself.. if you have a heart and actually have feelings.

I'm not a Twilight fan because I feel that they have abused the traditional qualities and traits of mythical beings. Vampires in the Twilight series merely glow rather than die in sunlight and werewolves turn into wolves rather than hybrids. The series has this strangely overly-emotional feel to it, very uncomfortable.
