How is Homosexuality a Sin?

I know it's written in the Bible that man shall not lay with man. Also, in the Bible, it states that we are to love each other and not hate each other. If we hate our brethren, we are liars and murderers. I somewhat know the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. If it's no trouble, it'd be nice if someone could explain that story to me. Anyway, if love is love, and God is love, and love is God, and TO LOVE is God... why is it just a sin for two men or two women to love each other? I mean... a man can't control whom he loves - certainly he's not a creation of Satan. Satan can't create life anyway, can he? I just don't understand how God can say "We are equal. I love you all. I frown upon homosexual love." I understand He doesn't HATE Gay people... just saying it doesn't make sense to me. Is it because man today thinks "That's creepy ew"? Here's the thing for today's men: If you don't like it... don't do it. I need some explaining; something other than "because the Bible says." I know it says homosexuality is a sin, because I don't understand why... someone please explain this to me... and no gay bashing, no saying "because they are -enter swear here-" ... be nice and just explain to me... please. I used to be bi, but then I stopped because I became a Christian. For my own sake... why is homosexuality a sin?

It isn't!! Certain people will choose odd sayings from the bible to throw at people, as a previous poster said there are many things that are just plain impossible (and insane) to follow today. Homosexuality isn't something that people choose to be, it is in their nature, so how can it be a sin to be something that God has made you. There are members of the clergy (Anglican) who are homosexual, so are they sinners too?

Well I wouldn't say they are necessarily born. I think everyone is asexual (or nonsexual for a better word) at the start of their life. The gay/straight thing doesn't come into development until after puberty and hormones and all that jazz.

Do you actually believe that? That its genetic? There shouldn't be any straight people then eh?

It's a shame you stopped being bi due to religion...You shouldn't have to deny your feelings because of religion. Do you personally think that an all-loving god would want that? The important thing to remember is that both religion and the bible were created by people and not god himself. People are inherently scared of the unknown and the different! Also, as other people mentioned, people pick and choose what they want to follow in the bible. There are laws in the bible about stoning people but nobody does that. With time, things change. In the past, slavery was accepted but that changed as people realized it was wrong. Hopefully sooner than later, homosexuality will be considered normal. Besides, what someone does with their life is their business, nobody else's!

Well I didn't stop ENTIRELY for religion. I'm with a man, who is now my fiancé, and we just know... we were born for each other. So why be bi when I know that I'm going to be with him and no one else. :) ALSO...sooooommee of the reason was God-fearing... but MOSTLY because... I don't want anyone else but my lover... that's really all. :)

Its amazing to me really that people pick and choose which laws in the bible to follow. The "man shall not lay with man law is listed with a whole bunch of other old school laws which no one is following today. We eat pork, women on their period talking to other people..shoot I don't remember the last time I washed myself in sheeps blood to kill the sin germs away...

Yep. Well basically they were considered unclean and anyone who touched her was unclean. There are some cultures that still practice this apparently.

To be able to ask that question you must first understand what a sin is exactly. What is a sin?

Sin is anything against God's ruling according to the bible. Opinion: Sin is anything that is seen as "wrong" by society... but what is WRONG but that which is not "RIGHT" ... no one knows what right even is... but by what we are taught. Hmmmm. That's a good thinker. Strangely makes me feel better about this subject, too... because... homosexuality/the acts OF homosexuality is only wrong because people SAY it is... when we don't even know what sin, wrong, or right IS. :) Hm! Thanks! Haha. :D

And do you think that a Wise God, with infinite years of knowledge and understanding, would have a reason for not wanting people to do certain things? Or would you think its just a power trip? Do it cause I say so! I myself believe there is a reason behind it. What it is exactly I can only guess. I'm not God.
