How many channels are available to you?

In my country India, there are about 150-200 channels available on air. We get generally only 100 channels on cable-tv. In DTH we can chose here different packages according to our budget. More costly package contain more channels.
How is about you? How many channels can you see? Is DTH (Direct to home - in which private dish and satelite receiver alloted) available ? Please state your country name also.

Hello wahsher!! I have Dish Network. There are over 500 channels available to me here in America. I do not spend the money to receive all of them, I would have no money for anything else. But it is like the old Bruce Springsteen song. He laments, "57 channels and there's nothing on."

Dish Network is one of two satellite servces in the US. It is the smaller of the two with Direct TV being larger. You used to be able to have private dishes and subscribe to differrent packages but those days are gone. The old analog dishes were very large (6 foot diameter) and you had to turn them to the satellite you wanted to receive. The new dishes are small and the satellite companies have a series of satellites lined up so that you don't have to adjust the sall dish for pickup unless you want a special channel which might require a second dish. I have cable TV because my trees block satellite signals but then I also get more local, over the air broadcst channels. (New York, Philadelphia, Allentown, and Scranton.

Wow Ezra !! That are a lot many channels. Is this your private Dish network? Do you get all channels free? Can you please tell us what is needed? I mean what equipment, permissions.... in short how do you do it? Please share with us Friend. Thank you for response.

Hi wahsher! I misstated exactly what I receive in my Dish Network satellite subscription. I have the ability to receive 500 channels. But I have to ask for them and then I get billed. Like I said I would go broke if I asked for all the channels. I do not watch television very often. I have a very basic package and I only actually receive maybe 80 channels. If I ordered everything that was available and bought an HD television I would get all the channels and one very large bill. You must pay for all the channels.

well for premium cable we got 70-80 channels out of it which is not that good. But its the only one in our area.

Hi washer, i am from india lol
My service provider has dish receivers in his home roof, about 100 meters from my home, from there cable runs to houses of his costumers, i pay him 200 rupees every month, from others he takes 300 rupees..
We can view about 120 channels, it includes sports, news, national geography, discovery..
On sudays he transmits hindi movie in one channel..

maybe around 1000 - 1800 channels , but I don`t realy watch all of them I only watch 10 channels !

my dad use cabel and he have more than 3000 channels .

i almost get 150 channels and its gud but i dont have enough tyme to mach tv.but i like hannah montaina very much i spend sum tym wachin her crials its gud i like jackson he is realy very comedy

hmmm... well I have sky plus HD, (satelite) and it has hundreds of different channels... there are over 1000 to choose from, if you pay for the full package... but I don't have everything, but even so, that still gives me well over 500 to choose from. I am in the UK.
