Ever since I was young, I am already an avid fan of anime and manga. When I was still 3 yrs old, I already watch anime shows on TV, and believe it or not, I don't like watching Tom and Jerry or any American Cartoons. Until now, I am still addicted in watching anime and reading anime manga (Japanese comics). My parents always tell me that I should stop this hobby of mine because its too childish and pointless. Whatever they say, I don't care. Not all anime and manga are for 'children only', mostly have violence, and adult contents and I learn many things by just watching or reading anime stuffs! That's why I'll never give up this hobby. How about you? DO you watch or read anime stuffs? :D

Nope, not really. I never really understood it to be honest. I don't understand Naruto either. There are way to many flashbacks, and the idea is put together very loosely. It is hard to comprehend, or for me at least, what is going on. And also, I really am not into Japanese and Chinese to English episodes because they are pretty corny.

Yeah, there are too many flashbacks [fillers] in Naruto but, if you'll read the manga, its a lot cooler than the animated version. Well, I appreciate your opinion, because I know that people have different preferences and likes :D

Yes I still do watch animes or read manga. Anime is more fun than other cartoons. Here in Japan anime is just like a trade mark of all japs here, you'll see them reading manga comic a lot and even if you go to some book store youll see tons of manga comics.

Wow! I wish I could also go to Japan and experience buying manga in a book store! Unfortunately, here in my place there are only few bookstores who sell manga, and its pretty sad for me. I really want to collect manga. But i have no choice, I just have to read manga online :(

Cartoons and anime these days are aimed towards older teens and adults. People just assume that since its fun and colorful characters it must be for little children. That's when you get people complaining about the "hidden" messages and innuendos because they're too dumb to realize that the creators are trying to target a specific audience and that does not include children 12 and under. I've been watching animes since I was a short person, I still watch them and I'll do so until I die. I don't read a lot of Manga but my daughters have become interested in them.

But children watch them all the same... Some TV channels put those animes on favorable timeslots, sad to say.

Yeah, there are hidden messages in these anime and manga. But... the moral lessons, I believe, is more profound.

Hi zel, I'm sorry but I just am not a fan. Sometimes there's too much violence, indifference, and even rage. There are cute characters too, in fairness. I remember getting hooked with Sakura cardcaptor. Loved her for her innocence. I am more into Walt Disney cartoons, as I just love the animation. Scooby Doo's not that bad either.

I understand your opinion. Not everyone are anime fans. Now I understand everyone. We have different cultures and that is really acceptable for me.

Hi there zel2zel. Just like you, when I was younger I was hooked to anime. I think the very first anime I loved was Dragonball Z. I hope you still remember this. And here in our country, there was a time, anime was all the rave when one local tv station had all days of the week have different anime shows. Escaflowne, Trigun were a few of them. Also, i followed the series Samurai X and Fushigiyugi!! There were so many who were so inlove with Miaka and Tamahome! Anyway, those were my favorites when it came to animes. For mangas, maybe just read 2 or 3 comic books were Naruto and Ah! my Goddess! It's nice reading them but I just don't have the time to sit and hold a book. You are correct that we do learn things from animes but there will come a time, you will grow out of it. I understand that you're into it now and maybe your parents don't. Anyway, that is what I can share about anime and manga!

I like watching anime and reading manga too. My mom says the exact same thing-- to give anime up because it's childish and pointless... It's sad to think that she never understands how I feel when it comes to anime. But you know it's my life, this is where I find happiness and sadness at the same time. I like myself this way... Crazy isn't it? But who cares! lol XD

When I was a kid I only watched non-asian shows like popeye and stuff but when I turned 10 I was introduced to anime and mangas and ever since I never looked back. The storylines in these kinds of animes and mangas are much better to look forward too that something like scooby doo. Even the children's anime is quite entertaining to watch as an adult. Now, I am still an avid fan of Naruto, Fairy Tail, and One Piece.

That was my perspective before... that watching the animated version is cooler than the manga. But now, I've realized that manga is waaaay cooler than the animated version! Because in the anime version everything is not according to how the story was presented in the manga. I hope that the animators will not change the story of these anime anymore, like what's happening in Naruto. It contains too much filler, and I hate it. That;s why I chose reading manga than the animated version.

I'm an avid fan of anime, one of my favorite is NARUTO. Even though I'm a mother of two and husband keep asking me why I'm so addicted of those shows, but still I still watching because it's given me a relaxing mood every time I watch it. It's give me a feeling that I'm still young at heart. For those anime fanatic are you agree with me? I hope so!!! God Bless!!!

Well, an anime cheers me up. Almost all the time you can see the sad ME. In other words :entertaining. I couldn't give up anime right now. I know it takes a lot of time (lost time) to watch anime and i wish i could do something about it. I want to watch anime but i m busy at school and i have to do a lot of other things. So i guess someday i wouldn't have time to watch anime like i watch now. Animes are another hobby like reading or practicing a sport of something. It's just a method to spend your free times. The japanese learning it's a good reason, but u can't learn just from animes. I understand some of the words the characters are saying but it's not enough. I like to watch anime for a reason aside the entertainment thingy. In animes some beautiful words are showed and lots of cute characters that you don't see often in real life Animes haven't changed my life so much. I m a little more happy than i used to be, for some reason i wish that some characters from animes to exist in real life. hahahaha

I love to watch anime and read manga, but I reading is most beautiful things for me. Because I know that anime shows was made by manga. I don't like anime or manga like a beautiful things or pretty enaough for girl, I'd love an action ones, and the truth is not for children. By the way, watching anime shows or read manga is not too childish and pointless for me.
