...the USA is credited with having the biggest attendances of ANY World Cup so far.
I must say, I'm impressed.
The question is though; did most of the people go out of curiousity? At least it kick-started interest in the USA soccer team and I actually think they gave our England team a run for their money this time round...as I knew they would. A definite improvement. Is it true that the College system churns out lots of great goalkeepers? A few of them play over here!
Has David Beckham ignited even more of an interest in soccer over there, I'd love to know.

could be regional clusters of people too.
my area is pre-dominantly irish settled and soccer is still a big thing here, especially when people fly over for work in summer.

Excellent! Glad to hear their "traditions" are still going strong in another land!

It is indeed on of the fastes growing sports in the USA, the reason for this can be attributed to the fact that the Usa has improved after the 1994 World Cup because the federation set out to build on the success of the World Cup by setting up enough academies. I think that help because in America every occassion is treated as family time, thats why the popularity grew so quickly not to mention that it is the Greatest Game in the World. Big Up US!!!

Thanks for that explanation as to why the US team is so good now..very interesting! I reckon in the next 4 years England will go backwards (again) and the USA will probably win the World Cup!

I think we have a lot of younger people coming up that are interested in soccer. Both my son and daughter played it twenty five years ago. I went to a small college that did not have a "football" program, as in American football, but they did have a soccer program--that was close to forty years ago. It is a coming thing.
