Butterfly or Flutterby ???????..Who Put The Butter In Butterfly????

Was it originally flutter-by..which makes some sense..
how come they changed the name to butterfly a meaningless word..or does it have a meaning..??
Some tell its actually coined from "buttorfleoge", but can you tell buttorfleoge's etymology??
Do you know any such words ??

Well, I don't know, but maybe entomologists here can help a lot to enlighten you about it. Maybe that fly loved butter that's why! (joke).

I like the term Flutterby too. I think it is more appropriate.
I am not sure from where it originated though..
But I even made some items with the term Flutterby on it. I think it sounds cuter..
