If you do and would like to get some lovely old vintage patterns free I have just found this website http://www.vintagepurls.net.nz/kidspatterns.html with loads of old patterns on it, including one that I've been looking for for a pram blanket I've knit for all my other grandchildren but lost the pattern - I'm so pleased my new grandchild will still be able to have this blanket now!!

That blanket is gorgeous, oldchem! Please post a photo of it when you've finished, pretty please? I LOVE seeing things like this that people have made. Yes, I knit from way back. I was taught when I was around 12 years old by a neighbor because my mother never did learn. My mother could crochet, but only in the "granny stitch" pattern. She never bothered to learn any other stitches, which is a shame. I knitted sweaters for everyone in my immediate family one year, a loooooooooong time ago, before kids and too many other responsibilities got in the way. I've always loved knitting and crocheting both, especially when I'm watching TV. I simply cannot sit still and just watch TV; I have to have busy hands and knitting or crocheting is perfect. I have one problem, though. I tend to start more projects than I finish. Now, I could use the excuse that I'm an Aries gal. Aries people are supposedly not into details, just ideas and supervising others who do the detail work. But, I won't use that. I just get tired after awhile of doing the same thing, so I start something else. Oh, I'll get around to finishing all those unfinished projects eventually (I hope... lol). I'm sure that, if I had grandchildren, I'd finish any project I started for them. They grow so fast! Thank you so much for sharing that link, too! I'm going to look through all the patterns. I'll most definitely save the pattern for that blanket. It is so pretty and unique! Thanks again!

I will, I guess somewhere in my photo's I'll have some of the others I have made - I was really pleased to find this as I have lost my original, can't wait to get my wool and start knitting!!!

Wow, I would love to learn knitting but unfortunately, I don't have the talent for it. It would have been so nice to make my own blankets or jackets but then again, these are all available in the market so I buy those ready-made items.

Pram cover - A lovely vintage pram cover
I enjoy knitting as a hobby as much as anything. This is a picture of the pram cover I knit, it looks much nicer in the 'flesh', the pattern is around 40 years old but the cover still looks beautiful when it is made up

yes like knitting a lot... have hoards of yarn as worked in a haberdashery for awhile and like old books, one of my freiends found some old recipe books, with real cakes in them using butter oh yum... i am a creative person so engage in different mediums, but find knitting relaxes my over tiered brain, and stops me biting my nails too., a double bonus., so appreciate that you have shared this information with us., so a warm crafting hug of thanks happy knitting best wishes x

Wow, what a find! I love that site. I love to knit and enjoy vintage things, too. I found a spiral sock pattern that I used to have and lost it! There are a few other things I want to make, too. Thanks for posting!
