Hi there, Today, traveling is very popular and people enjoy traveling for multipurpose such as for business or vacation. There are lots of things to do to prepare a trip, reservations, hotels, buying tickets ( plane, train, etc). One of the most interesting way to travel is by air. Today, this industry is on demand throughout the planet. People boards airplanes from many reasons, either for business or vacation. However, sometimes we do have some bad experiences between the Origin and the destination. Sometimes, we must wait hours at the airport due to some delays such as bad weather or for other reasons. The last time I took the plane it was from Montreal, Canada to Paris, France. It was my first time crossing the Atlantic ocean. I had a minor bad experience. At the take off from Montreal, the plane had problems with the breaks and there was terrible noise. Some technicians came inside the plane to fix the problem and it took like 50 minutes. So, our plane took off about 1hr later than the scheduled time. Everyone was very nervous. It was on June 8th 2009, one week after the Air France plane crash off Brazil coast, so we were so nervous. I remember that everybody was quiet and no one was talking while the technicians were repairing the breaks. The atmosphere was so weird. During the 7-8 hours of the flight, the passengers were calm though. This flight was fine though, at Paris, everyone was relieve to land safely and no problems occurred there. Well, I am wondering what are the best solutions or how to remain calm in a stressful situation. I was so stressed out and I wanted to get out of the plane. From Paris to Montreal, 2 weeks later, the flight went fine and I was better and people were normal. Anyone here had any bad flight? snowstorms, delays, turbulence?

The most dramatic experience I had in flying was 25 years ago when I flew from Salt Lake to Rome. I was going to Italy to get married. I was taking as many bags as I could since I was planning on living in Italy for the rest of my life. My mother was going with me to see me get married. Naturally, there is no such thing as a direct flight between Salt Lake and Rome, and there was more than one change of plane. The first stop was in St. Louis, then the next flight was St. Louis to New York, then New York to Fiumicino. No problems between Salt Lake and St. Louis, but our plane took off about an hour late from St. Louis. When we landed in New York, we literally had to run to catch the next flight. We barely made it. The plane took off, and we had been in the air for little over an hour when the flight attendants began asking if there was a doctor on the plane. Evidently one of the passengers had had a heart attack. Our plane had to land somewhere in Greenland I think. We spent a lot of time on the ground there while the passenger was taken off the plane and to a hospital. Then there was another long wait to have permission to take off again. We arrived in Rome hours after we were due. There was no way to inform my fiancé of what was happening. I arrived in Rome and saw him waiting for me together with my future mother in law. We went to get my luggage, but it had not arrived. It was all lost. The only clothes I had with me was the dress I wore on the plane and my wedding dress that I had with me on the plane. If I were the supersticious type, I would probably have thought my marriage was presaged by bad omens.

Hi, Whoa, that is one big and stressful adventure you went through. I hope that after all that, your wedding went well. It is sad that someone had a heart attack and had to land in Greenland. I guess that we all go through an adventure with air travel and that we must be patient when something happens. I remember another event I went through like 10 years ago aboard a plane. We were taking off from Manzanillo, Mexico and we were heading towards Montreal. About an hour, we had to land somewhere in Texas, because there was a crazy passenger aboard that was threatening the crew members and the passengers. He was saying terrible things and everyone else on board started to panic. So, we landed in Texas and there was some special unit agents or swat team, I don't know who they were exactly, climbed aboard and arrest that crazy guy. We couldn't believe whats was happening that day and we had to wait like an hour or so before taking off and fly to Montreal. Arriving in Montreal, we were so relived and so tired. Today, I don't really to fly, but I guess I don't have a choice if I want to discover the world.

Now that is scary. While my experience was stressful, at least I have never been afraid for my life flying. My greatest fears have been missing connections. Hope that never happens to you again. Hope it doesn't happen to anyone. That sounds like the plot for a movie.

11 years ago when I was travelling from Denmark to Estonia there was a hurricane and my flight was delayed for many, many hours. I was nervous, because I had to fly from Denmark to Finland and from Finland to Estonia, and I was worried that I was going to miss the second plane. But the second was also delayed and I had to spend many hours waiting for the plane from Finland and Estonia. I arrived in Estonia in the middle of the night. 5 years ago I was travelling from London to Denmark, and the plane couldn't land at the right airport, because there were too much snow. We had to go to another airport, and when we arrived where we were stuck, there were no taxis or buses because of the snow. We had to spend the night at the airport. My worst experience was a time when there was something from with the plane. We weren't able to land and we kept on flying around for a long, long time. We were told that there were some problems and we were all very nervous. We couldn't land the usual way, but fortuneately we managed to get back to the ground safely.

Hi, Well your worst experience must of been very scary, the fact the plane wasn't able to land. I suppose that any event aboard a plane is very scary and the fact that the passengers don't know what is happening. I guest you must of stayed calm as much as possible? It is good to know that you guys managed to land. I imagine the passengers who were aboard the plane that landed on the Hudson river in NYC due to birds crashing in the engines, they must of been extremely nervous. I don't like to fly, if there is an accident there is no chance or a very slight chance of survival and that makes me afraid. But, If I want to travel, I must take the plane, we don't have a choice.

nothing extra ordinary.. but we only had a delayed flight and well it was really such a mess. our flight was delayed because this person onboard in the plane did not even notice his companion, or friend was not sitting with him yet! how stupid can that be!

Last year I had a long wait for a heavily delayed plane. My flight from London to Cape Town was delayed for 5 hours due to fog. I was 18 weeks pregnant with my baby daughter and had my disabled son with me. When I was 19 years old I flew from London to Sfax via Tunis. There was way too much turbulence for a comfortable trip. I had coffee spilled all over me. On that flight I was sick and got severe ear pain. Getting on a plane everyone was handed a newspaper. On the front page was news and a photo of a concord crash. Now that was frightening. I am thankful it was a smooth and safe flight. On my latest flight which was Vancouver to London the plane arrived but they couldn't find a staircase. We had to stay seated for twenty minutes until anyone could get off the plane. Due to my son needing assistance we had to wait until last to get off.

eagle271, I am sure you are familiar with the term one thing leads to another, so will our infinite minds where if we do not get a grip of ourselves and control the chain of thoughts, hysteria will be around the corner. I have had engine dropping before take off, fortunately on the ground and still manage to fly without sparing another thought if the plane which I am on will be dropping its engine midair. It can be harrowing if I had just let everything run its course without self censorship here. I simply tell myself that if my time is up then let it be and I have nothing to hold me because I have done everything that has to be done already. It would also be comforting to know that the captain of the flight would not be a lunatic to risk his own life when his aircraft is not fit for the flight. So, enjoy the inflight service and entertainment available or if you are unique then bring something to occupy yourself from unhealthy wild thoughts which might just ruin your day and trip. Take care.

Hi, TRavelling is fun and I love travelling especially by air. However, taking a long flight can be nervous and tiring too. So far, I never encounter any problem with the plane throughout my whole flight. I have been travelling at least once a year back to my hometown. It is quite tiring flight as I have to transit at Kuala Lumpur before taking the next flight back to Indonesia. But seeing my family members back at my hometown will definitely slip out my tiredness. The longest flight I ever experienced is from Singapore to Brisbane.it took about 7 hours flight and I was on night flight to Brisbane. It was my first experience to have a night sleep on board ,pretty tired but getting excited too as I was on my holiday trip to Australia with my friend. I am glad that I never encounter any problem in my flights so far,and I wish everything will go smoothly ever after.
