There was an article I happened to read written about the judiciary which was showing the entire Indian legal system in a poor light.I felt that the article was one sided and written with a certain amount of bias towards the judiciary.I feel that no system is 100% perfect, one has to realise that there are bound to be some shortcomings in every system. I have not had any reason to complain where the legal system is concerned.i have got help as and when required without me having to to do anything that was not acceptable . So as far as I am concerned Indian legal system is alright, though it needs a lot of upgradation and changes as regards the rules some of which are out dated and ancient.. How about you all friends? What do you think of your country's legal system? are you happy with it ?

I agree that nothing is ever 100 percent perfect anywhere in the world. But as long as it works we should be happy with it and I doubt if even God ( or whatever it is) can be perfect since there are always loop holes in in systems and in human beings , created by him...

I am never worried and most of the time very positive in my ooutlook , not even when I have faced the worst of situations left all alone to fight my battle with life...But I like to debate about things and hear other people's views about it so that I get more ideas about the subject - all the best

Yes yugasini, Thats exactly my point, there is a lot to be changed in all our governmental policies and rules regarding the law of the land. But who is to bell the cat? The politicians are quite happy to let things continue the way it is instead of making changes that may affect them and their luxurious existence ...

hi kiran madam, thanks for the response, now you have catch the point, the entire system means Government was in sleepy mood or just like a free Choultry, people are comming and going no supervision on any things neither on the politicians nor Govt officers, every where you are finding scams and other loopholes, though the people know every thing still they are supporting those people in Elections, only god can save us,have a nice day

Yes , but after the election and once they get elected , I very much doubt if people can have free access to them..After that it is only about how to make their wealth and try their best to see that they do not get caught doing it...

I think there is a bias in this country against people of color, so to speak, but I do think it is more fair than in some countries.

Hi dawnald, I suppose this is a fact, but I would like to make an interesting point here - A few years ago One of India's high profile celebrities had a case filed against him which involved his wealth made in UK and India as well...He preferred to have his case heard in London because he felt that he would get better justice there and he was able to win his case ..

Hi kiran, I'm not a legal expert. I think Indian judicial system is more or less perfect. But I feel the court's function should be more quick. There is a saying :Justice delayed, justice denied. The hearing process should be more prompt.

I agree bhanu, I too feel with the kind of political system we have and all that they do to upturn justice, it is still a good system which one can turn to and expect fair justice. But what is frustrating, as you rightly point out is the unnecessary delay and round about processes that have become part and parcel of our system..

My counrty flag. - This is my country flag. Do you like It?
I can't say that I ma happy for my country legal system, but I can live there. Always I was think about my country system what need to change, improve. I think here we need to start with streets. Actually I do not remember last time when in my town was corrected road. My town looks nice, because In one place I can seen new road, but in other places there are many holes. Second what need to change at my town is mayor he only say what he will do in our advantage, but he do not do anything only talk. There are houses which need repair roofs, but mayor only say If you do something we will help you, but they do not do anything before you. It means I need to pay all costs. It is briefly for my town. Country too have problems I believe that we need to change our politicians, but the next would be the same I think. There are financial problems, but It have many countries. It would be nice If our government would open closed factory's, because export isn't happen like old days. All rich people had invested their money in one bank who was in bankrupt, but now It is the richest and cruelly. I know there always be people who will do not like their country system. It is only normally, but I hope all be well. At this moment my country need to think about financial problems and free job places. But, the most painful thing is that they borrow many from that fund who will help If you have financial problems, but the painful thing is that we will need to pay back all the money. And this money isn't some dollars, but milliards. By the way I live in Latvia. Take care, Have a nice day!

Hi ET, In most developing countries the major problems are good efficient system of government and more importantly implementation of policies that help the people and country as a whole.because of various problems the politicians can get away with anything .There is no accountability and it makes it easier for them to shirk and do as little as possible . For changes to come into any system people have to rise and there should be a mass movement, which is again not easy..

hi kiran.... as far as my opinion counts i strongly feel that the INDIAN legal system is very fair, even the assassin of a prime minister gets a fair trial here. the only hitch that we have to suffer in the INDIAN legal system stands that it is very time consuming, which requires to be reformed. personally i feel that the capital punishment should be removed, but then i do not hold the authority to make such reforms.

The assassin of the prime minister will definitely get a fair trial, because it is very much in the public eye.As you right;y point out the time factor is frustrating and requires major reforms...I am not too sure about the capital punishment though- how does one send across a message to other criminals?

Noooooo I am not. Well some are good but still are not carried out well. Only the rich and powerful know their way around. Twisting the laws in their favor. Innocent people get convicted while the guilty ones roam free.

Yes thats true, there are enough loopholes in the law to make it easy for the criminal minded to twist it and turn it as they wish.It is the law of the nature that the fittest survive and it is happening every where now...

well i dont have any problems with the laws but the way they are enforcing it is a one thing. The laws are are not that enforced and when they are it will drag into years before they will release a ruling in particular case.

Yes delay in the process of justice is very frustrating to anyone, and in India it can take decades for anything to really happen.By then the people involved may have lost all their enthusiasm and have become bitter about the whole system..

Actually the problem is that there are rules and regulations in every country. But the success is there when you implement those rules. Unfortunately, in countries like India and Pakistan, rules are limited to books only. So what I believe is that you should make the rules, but implement them at the same rate and time so that the situation gets better.

Yes that is half the problem , but again our laws and regulations have been loosely crafted and there are many loop holes which is taken advantage of by the unscruplous and the criminal minded. It is a vicious circle and one has to clean up the entire system...

I think that in the UK our issue is sentencing. Successive governments have tried to avoid spending on the prison system. So there is a lot of pressure on the judiciary not to imprison many that perhaps should be. Wile our prisons are not home from home, I do feel that too much is spent on their comforts.

I personally have always thought that UK has a very fair system of governance and so is the judiciary...In any system there is always a need to improve and make it as perfect as one can, though it may not always be possible...In India we have too many loop holes and a lack of concern by the concerned authorites to improve the legal system...

Hi Kiran, I am also a fellow Indian :D , and looking at the larger picture I don't find it that encouraging Few Points are 1)Is too sluggish cases pending with 20 years or more(even Kasab verdict took more than 2 years) 2)Corruption is rampant (especially at lower levels) 3)Too many loopholes in the law allowing unscrupulous elements to manipulate it at will.(Refer Ruchika Girhotra case) 4)In practice not entirely free from influences from politics. (Afzal Guru case) 5)Often justice is denied to poor people especially against some influential elements . You are indeed lucky if in your case it was good , but it's not same with everybody. But all said and done I still respect Supreme Court there verdict most of the time are rational.

I agree that there are too many negativities in our system and it may not change any time in the near future. But at the same time, I feel that we as a people have to keep at it and try to do whatever we can by not bribing and making our voices heard. One need not always have money to do it ...Just being concerned and straight does help..
