How funny, wanting 200 dollars for his birthday. Did he say what he intended to buy with the 200 big ones. When it comes to birthdays and Christmas, little ones can go over board. My youngest is 8 and my oldest is 14, I am very lucky that the biggest request from mine was a puppy for Christmas. That took a lot of working around since we already had 3. I just explained that since PETA sued Santa over him giving pets for Christmas, he can't do it anymore. Now my nephew had a big order for his birthday one year, he wanted a 52 inch flat screen tv for his bedroom. I was like uh, no, but we will send you a gift card to buy whatever you wanted with it. I do hope your grandson had a wonderful birthday, with lots of gifts. Minus the 200 from his grandmother, lol.

I see, he did want something. Now that the money is in hand, it's like a woman in a shoe store. Just to cute, my oldest got about 90 so far for her birthday. She actually spent her money wisely. With my youngest, her mind changes like the weather. Hopefully, your grandson will not change his mind again. You have to be on your toes, or they will walk all over you. Got to remember all they have to do is give you the puppy dog eyes and your hooked.

He's a mess & thinks his bobo has a money tree in the back yard, lol. He ended up getting $215 for his birthday but it didn't all come from me. Yesterday he was going to buy him a baskerball goal, when they went to wal-mart he changed his mind & wanted a battery run car. The only one that they had was a display one & it was missing a part. They are going to go to aanother store out of town & he may change his mind again, lol. U got around the puppy request real good. U have to be on your toes w/kids all the time but they are precious. Thanks for responding.

Hi Jo, It does seem you´ll have to go and get a good job in a hurry. Serves you for asking though!. I wouldn´t dare ask them that: I´m sure I would not like the answers. I have brainwashed my grandchildren telling them that I´m extremelly poor. My only problem is that it doesn´t show: my house is big and beautiful and I´m younger and better looking than the other granmas they have I suggest you tell him that you don´t like to give money so what present would he want. I hope he doesn´t want an airplane. I´m sure you´ll end up giving him something he likes. Happy bithday to Ryan.

For his next birthday I´ll check how much a boy´s chilean soccer team shirt costs here and how much does it cost to send it. Boys like that. He can boast in front of his friends. All my grandsons have wanted that at a certain moment of their lives.

Hey, what are you doing on here? Get a job already. Cary wanted to get his friend a gift for his birthday, some Harry Potter thing and a Nintendo DS. Well last I looked, a DS was $129. It was nice of him, but no. That's a little out of budget. A LOT out of budget. lol

I know that's right. Afraid there is no demand for an old worn out hairdresser, lol. Cary's heart was in a good place, bless his heart. It would have been over my budget to. Thanks for responding.

In our money that S200 is equivalent to a one month salary of an ordinary worker here. lol, don't you think you made the mistake of asking him what he wanted? Well, for sure your grandchild was not serious with his request...but what about if he was serious? You really need to get a job immediately.

i guess yours knows about what money can buy. no, the "child" here right now doesnt "request" things. he just does what he wants till you tell him stop or else. anyway, my grandson just follows me around when hes here. hes pretty quiet but i know hes just waiting for me to give him a toy or something because i usually have something on hand as i always ask for a kids meal when i go to a fast food cause usually thats enough for me, then save the toy for any kid that comes by. I saved a lot over the years and am just recently running out. but still have stickers... i usually just buy them some new toy for an occassion like birthdays, xmas, or else i give them some money.

Hi ANTIQUELADY!I wonder who is teaching him what to say! It's cute because he's only six and doesn't realize what he's saying, but when you think about it he is hearing this stuff about money probably from his parents who may or may not be kidding and I don't think that is a great thing to be teaching a six year old to ask people for money. Sorry if I'm taking it wrong, like I said he's six and it's cute, but I am looking at it from a "where is this coming from"?

That’s funny! What a smart boy, he doesn’t want to mess around with small amounts does he? He may have seen something in the stores or in a catalogue that he likes which costs $200. Wouldn’t want to have too many grandchildren that want at least two hundred bucks for their birthday! My daughter asked for a new sippy cup when she was about to turn three! At least what she wanted would have only cost a couple of dollars!

Your grandson do know how to ask that much and have you asked him where would he spend that money?... Me personally haven't asked my mom amounting $200 for my birthday and I'm 22 this year, your son is really incredibly smart enough to ask you that amount, and I guess you would really give him that, right?.... Reading your post makes me wanna be your grandaughter... :)

Happy birthday to your grandson. I think maybe he's got his own plans so that he requested $200 to you... Children... there's always a funny behavior that make us smile and laugh. My son, since he was 5 years old is very fond of pizza. I can always guess correctly what he asked for a gift at every birthday, which is of course the pizza. He's still doing that even on his 12th birthday last May. A very simple request. Of course I not only bought him a pizza on his birthday, in addition sometimes I bought him shoes, or school bag, or other useful items. Children...

WOW! 6 years old asking $200 for his birthday present. when I was 6, the only amount I got, the highest is $10. Kids nowadays, sure are know what they want. but I don't blame them, since somehow I realize kids nowadays know the value of merchandise or anything they want are on those amount of money. anyway, Happy Birthday wishes to your grandson, AntiqueLady!
