No-shampoo?

I wonder if anyone else has tried going no-shampoo? I haven't shampooed my hair for about 3 months now, instead I wash the roots with a paste of baking soda and then a vinegar rinse to give it some shine. My hair seems to stay clean for longer, seems thicker and softer, and is in better condition than it's ever been. Has anyone else tried quitting the shampoo habit? How did it work out for you?

Hi AbigailsCrafts, I did try to clean my hair without using shampoo for several months before. I used fresh lemon juice massage my scalp evenly and rub my hair softly for a short while. I then rinse my hair thoroughly with clean water. The clean hair smelled with the aroma of fresh lemon after it's dry It's rather disappointed that once there was no more fresh lemon left in the fridge when I wanted to wash my hair badly. I then wash with the shampoo again for no other choice. Since then I never wash my hair with lemon juice anymore. I haven't tried the method you have been using. I believe it's healthy and safety to wash our hair free from shampoo which might contain harmful chemical content that might damage the health of our scalp as well as hair Happy posting

Ooh, lemon sounds like a nice alternative to the vinegar! I do worry that I might smell like a chip shop sometimes :p

Hi, AbigailsCrafts. Welcome to myLot! Last year, I went without washing my hair ever since May. I have not washed my hair in 9 months. I did not use anything, no natural product shampoo at all. My hair was very dirty too. I don't think that I could use a no-shampoo on my hair. I need to wash my hair with some kind of shampoo. I don't think that my hair will make it without using a regular shampoo. If the no-shampoo works for you, then great. I hope that your hair will be healthy using it.

Yes, I have tried going without shampoo for a time. Instead, I used diluted light conditioner. It was good for my hair because shampoo is very strong. Sometimes, I rinsed it with vinegar, too. It is a good clarifying rinse - washing out the residue left by the light conditioner. Sadly, I've been busy lately so I went back to shampooing almost everyday.

I can't afford going outside without shampoo, it lessens my self confidence and i think my hair will have a bad result without applying shampoo everyday.

I haven't actually tried it, but my cousin has, and she says it's going great for her!
